To be fair, he does say they 'haven't really spoken' which to me means they might have exchanged normal pleasantries, but not had any kind of long chat. Dimi's in for training and beetling off sharpish at the end.

I'm not reading much more than that into it, based on what Nobes said, rather than interpret it to mean that Dimi has been refusing to speak to anyone and cutting them dead.

Yes but that comment is also just context for him appearing to say their bromance is over. It's not just an off-the-cuff remark about training conditions.
  • It's very kind of Marseille to say we can keep our player until the summer, maybe they will subsidise his salary.
Also we should say to that is he will be £10m more expensive come July.
  • Herb - do you have a link to an actual quote from someone at Marseille saying that? Or was it some journo quoting unattributed "sources"?
  • The Sun article quotes the Sunday Times. ;lol
  • Well this is new from the sun today....

Marseille will suggest West Ham can keep their star midfielder for the rest of the season, before allowing him to leave in the summer.

  • Herb - exactly, no actual quote from any of the Marseille people, just the Sun quoting the Sunday Times which are both Murdoch papers.

Jonathan Northcroft and Andrew Richardson probably share a desk.....
  • Perhaps the loan option is due to the fact they're close to any kind of FFP maximum for this season and would need to offload before paying his wages?

Slaven - good point but they did make an offer and allegedly agreed terms with Payet before it was turned down
  • It was widely reported that we turned down a "recent" bid of £20m plus £2.5m if they made the CL, the assumption being that is what triggered Payet's "strike".

And yes, I do realise the irony of my using unattributable sources on this.
  • ;ok

Yeah forgot about that snippet, wonder if Payet thought that's all it would take and the club would sell him?
  • I don't think the lad is thinking straight about anything, just wants to get back with the wife and sprogs (and having seen the Mrs I can't blame him)
  • Yep, I have no doubt that one of the bigger factors is the family business but I wouldn't be surprised if there is other stuff as well
  • Wasn't Mrs P allegedly playing away from home ?
  • At least she was playing ;whistle
  • Didn't lgh always warn us of the sulky French ;wink

Wasn't Mrs P allegedly playing away from home ?

I think it was Claret & High had a rumour that he was being a bad lad and then someone else said it was her. Who knows?

The only thing everyone seems to agree on is that she's taken the kids back to France and he's been going back there on his days off. And then turning up late for training or going AWOL.
  • If the latest reports are true, a bid of only 1 million more than their last bid has been rejected after their big wig flew in
  • At least the DD's should recognise their negotiating ploy...
  • So, contradictory reports in the media.
  • No, shut up!
  • There is part of me that wonders if we are being played like a well tuned violin.
It is possible Dimi asked for a move and the Daves felt that the money available would be welcome but said to him that they would be slaughtered if they sold him so agreed that he had to be a villain to get the move. Dimi gets his move, Club gets the cash and us fans rally behind the club, everyone's a winner.

I am not saying this is what has happened or even the most likely scenario but I am just mindful of the fact that all fans are saying sell now, which would have been unthinkable before Slavs press conference last week.
  • I don't believe that for one moment.
  • Has he gone yet? And have we got a van load of cash?

    £19m?

    No

    £20m?

    ;lol

Not sure there are enough days left if we're gonna go with this transfer negotiation bidding strategy.

    15 days left.

Although, even if this is 'the strategy', (not that I think it is), it's theirs not ours. Our only option is to keep saying non until we like the price.

They should feel free to come in at £35m straight off, thus allowing a fortnight for negotiation over add-ons and sell-on fees. (But not appearance fees, as he could easily pull the same trick again.)
  • For every extra £1M they come in for him we add an extra £1000 to our bid for Hogan.
  • Has he gone yet? And have we got a van load of cash?

How do you feel about a van load of cakes and biscuits?
