  • Payet too lazy to get into a Mourinho team though.
  • He also says:
If Carroll's post-match interview is anything to go by Payet would be wise to keep a low profile at the training ground next week. It would appear players like Carroll don't take kindly to team-mates who take the money and then run
Now, I wasn't sure after the interview whether to think the same as above, or whether Carroll (and the rest of the team) had been forewarned to say something like that and he was saying it through gritted teeth. Hard to tell. Thoughts?
  • It looked genuine to me.
  • Problem is we've all been led to believe that Payet is quite popular. Interesting if during his whole time here it's actually been the opposite. ;hmm

Must be only so much Dimi Payet FC other players can take before they get tired of it.
  • Nobes has had his heart broken no wonder he did n't play against Man City the bromance was dead ;whome
  • There's no indication that he's been off the whole time. Definite signs this season for sure which are now surfacing.
  • Nobes said they haven't spoken for 3 weeks which is odd if they're training each day.
  • I did say a while ago that the PR machine of the club focused on nothing but Payet for the majority of its time, I expect this did wind up the players to no end.

I doubt Dimi even will go to training to have to avoid Carroll anyway.
  • Well this is new from the sun today....

Marseille will suggest West Ham can keep their star midfielder for the rest of the season, before allowing him to leave in the summer.

To be fair, he does say they 'haven't really spoken' which to me means they might have exchanged normal pleasantries, but not had any kind of long chat. Dimi's in for training and beetling off sharpish at the end.

I'm not reading much more than that into it, based on what Nobes said, rather than interpret it to mean that Dimi has been refusing to speak to anyone and cutting them dead.
  • 3 weeks is a long time when you have training every day, must have been toxic.

This is the Captain of the club....

Pointless no one wants him here, Marseille need to cough up the money its that simple really.

As Mrs Grey says "I haven’t really spoken to him for the last two or three weeks" isn't necessarily that they haven't said a word to each other. Journalists do like to sensationalise things so you need to read what is actually said rather than just glancing at the headlines.

As yet Payet hasn't said anything to the press so we're still only getting one side of the story.

Hard to tell. Thoughts?Seeing as Bilic said in his press conference that Payet won't be training with the team how is that even an issue? And again no direct quote from a player, just some journo speculating.
  • Noble says he hasn't "really" spoken to Payet, as Mrs G says they may of just swapped pleasantries, a few weeks ago he was bigging Payet up saying they talk all the time.

There seems to be no doubt that Bilic has bent over backwards for Payet with regards missing training, extra time off etc. But he hasn't said he won't play again, he said his attitude has to change for him to be considered.

His agent has come out with the "family problem" business.....

Yes but that comment is also just context for him appearing to say their bromance is over. It's not just an off-the-cuff remark about training conditions.
  • It's very kind of Marseille to say we can keep our player until the summer, maybe they will subsidise his salary.
Also we should say to that is he will be £10m more expensive come July.
  • Herb - do you have a link to an actual quote from someone at Marseille saying that? Or was it some journo quoting unattributed "sources"?
  • The Sun article quotes the Sunday Times. ;lol

    ASLEF
  • Herb - exactly, no actual quote from any of the Marseille people, just the Sun quoting the Sunday Times which are both Murdoch papers.

Jonathan Northcroft and Andrew Richardson probably share a desk.....
  • Perhaps the loan option is due to the fact they're close to any kind of FFP maximum for this season and would need to offload before paying his wages?

Slaven - good point but they did make an offer and allegedly agreed terms with Payet before it was turned down
  • It was widely reported that we turned down a "recent" bid of £20m plus £2.5m if they made the CL, the assumption being that is what triggered Payet's "strike".

And yes, I do realise the irony of my using unattributable sources on this.
  • ;ok

Yeah forgot about that snippet, wonder if Payet thought that's all it would take and the club would sell him?
  • I don't think the lad is thinking straight about anything, just wants to get back with the wife and sprogs (and having seen the Mrs I can't blame him)
  • Yep, I have no doubt that one of the bigger factors is the family business but I wouldn't be surprised if there is other stuff as well
  • Wasn't Mrs P allegedly playing away from home ?
