Lots of rumours yesterday so it's impossible to know the truth regarding Sakho. He was originally quoted as saying he wants to go so he can play regular first team football. It then became 'personal problems' and had nothing to do with problems.
My gut feeling is that there's a personality clash with Bilic.
I'm increasingly confident that Benitez will be our next manager, be it next season when Slav's contract is up, or sooner if we don't get a win in the next three
Can't see it myself; from that Grundian article it seems that all the things that would cause Benitez to quit Newcastle are similar to what we seem to be guilty of.
The difference is, the daves will tempt him with the lure of top quality signings and then for one reason or another they won't be signed. Whereas mike Ashley will just flat out say he hasn't got the cash
Having thought about the events of the last couple of days and the club statement etc, I am of the view that it would have been far kinder and fairer for the daves to have just called it a day with Slav straight after the Newcastle game.
Instead Slav's fate appears to be "death by a thousand cuts" - regardless of how one rates his abilities, he is no way deserving of that sort of treatment by his employers.
If he gets a couple of wins they'll shout it was never in doubt and always backed him
If he loses the next few they'll say that they had no choice but too cut him loose even though they did all they could for him and supported him, getting all his top targets (but messing around with the most important one - that was to cost a lot)
Personally I really hope he wins the next game or two, I want to see the fans reaction.
there is also a part of me that would love him to win the next couple and walk out of principle, hate saying that because the club is bigger than anything but that's how they've helped me feel right now
Possible, I think they really need to get benhind him and the boys for huddersfield, sing his name, if we go behind it will be toxic, stories of banners being made for the owners, they'll get searched and taken off though, probably
Yep we've not been on a good run recently, but he helped give us the best season for 30 years and has to deal with that stadium and a want away star player
I'm just as worried about who they'd appoint, if it's a massive name then fine, but I'm not sure it would be
In the prem I like the current crop of young managers. I wouldn't want to see a Benitez etc at the club. Bilic hopefully can turn it around and make us a progressive club.
Not asking you to do the work ASLEF, but I wonder what the Bilic ratio looks like in smaller instalments of games. I'm going to try and look at that this morning
The chart shows how that stacks up against our other PL managers. Our win record in the PL from the start of 1994/95 season to date is 32.9%. Basically, Slaven's first 40 games were better than we've ever had, his next 20 were better than average, and his last 20 he has struggled.
The reason we have struggled in that time is shown in the next chart. We started conceding loads more, and scoring loads less. In his first 10 games we scored 2.2 goals per game, in his last ten it's been 0.9. In his first 20 games we conceded 1.15 goals per game. That's now 1.9 per game. The combination is pretty appalling, and it's no wonder we've struggled as a result.
I think what this all says, to me at least, is that Bilic deserves some slack. Yes, he has been poor in the last 20 games. But what we saw in his first 60 (that is SIXTY as in, not just that debut Payet season) was better than anything we've experienced in the past. The contrast is what has made this particularly poor.
If his next 20 games have a win % of less than 33% than ok, I can see the argument against him. But, as it stands, he is still one of the best managers we have had in the PL era.

I do think he is a very good striker when fit, and could make an excellent pairing with Hernandez. His attitude however is just not right.
Slav has got a job on his hands trying to make this work, better hope he does as an injury to Hernandez and we're in real trouble.
All we can do now is support and back the lot of em and hope it comes out the right way up
Rumours.
Imo
That's another way of looking at it....
I would love to see a really BIG name come to us just to see how it panned out, whether the owners may act differently and just the dynamic....
Not sure that's a fit with us right now

Could be rubbish, but...
