“I said before the game that it’s a weird one because I don’t see why in football the managers get so much stick sometimes when the players need to take responsibility," he observed. "I said that to the boys, you know.
“A lot of our boys have played in the Premier League for a long time so we needed to take responsibility, step up to the plate, perform and take a bit of pressure off the gaffer himself. Hopefully three points has done that.
“It is easy to hide behind the manager and I’ve been at clubs before where the manager has taken a lot of stick when the players aren’t performing. Personally, I am big enough to come out and say maybe I haven’t played well enough, and we needed to look at ourselves and hopefully we’ve done that.
“Everyone here loves the gaffer, he’s such a great guy and a great coach and his staff with him, and we were disappointed with the stick he was getting when it was us on the pitch performing.
Really not sure what's going on with Slav some v strange decisions the Antonio right back experiment , weird subs, picking out of form players and we keep throwing away points . I know our recruitment was poor but he was involved in it , injuries fair enough but motivation and tactics are down to him . I'm feeling less convinced by him with every passing game
Problem Slav had is that there's every chance we won't pick up another point this season. I think we have just about enough as it is but I can't see us picking up another win.
This season has been every bit as horrible as last season was great, so I think he deserves another year to right the wrongs.
I wouldn't be surprised to se Benitez given the job, it appears he was near to doing so before Real Madrid came in for him and although he will have taken Newcastle back to the Premiership he may not enjoy working for the Newcastle board and may be open to coming.
Personally I think Slav has done little wrong with the team he has been able to field on most occasions. You could argue he bought the rubbish we acquired in the summer and that would be fair enough, but with the team he had after each window he has done about the best anyone could I feel.
Aside from that I just love a coach who cares, has a bit of passion.
Can someone explain to me why Simone Inghazi would leave Lazio after one season, they're currently fourth in Serie A, reached the final of the Copa Italia, guaranteed Europa League next season and he's supposedly been offered an improved contract? Its not as if we're a step up!
I don't see Rafa wanting to come to us either, we're not a better prospect than Newcastle and he'll want a season in the Premier League with the team he's been putting together.
I don't see S&G sacking Bilic simply because I don't think they want to go back into the manager market and suffer all that rejection again so soon after last time.
I want Slav to stay for the next few years, personally. lLast season was brilliant. This year has been painful but he's had to deal with so many problems.
With all these digs in the press and on the official website from DS it looks like he wants to change
Also Inzaghi is Lazio to the core, over ten years as a player and he's been on the coaching staff since he hung up his boots. He's like a Romano John Lyall
My take on it is that if the daves decided to make a change (still not sure that they will) it will be not necessarily be because of managerial abilities, but also down to the manager's ability to attract top players to the club.
They had 30m bids accepted for bacca and bats but neither wanted to come - I should imagine the daves are a little peeved at then being accused of not spending when the players themselves didn't want to come.
Rafa managed to get decent enough players to stay and play in the champ. Nolan dropped a division to join us and Sam in the champ.
Maybe that's why Southampton ditched Adkins for poch a few years ago.
I would think, for example, that if someone like Mancini were at the helm, it would greatly enhance the chances of getting the likes of joe hart.
I think they will keep him. He's got a year on his contract, I'd be very surprised if they wanted to pay that up. I think keeping him is the easy decision, because they can point to a great season last year, and a 'transition' season this year.
I can't see any manager that is a step up on Slav wanting to come here right now, and I think the owners know that.
It isn't just players S&G fail to attract, its managers too. When we replaced Sam we were linked with Emery, Bielsa, Klopp, Anchelotti and others, we ended up with Bilic because they weren't interested. If he had Mancini or one of those then we might well attract better players but they aren't interested in us so Bilic is the best we're going to get at the moment.
I don't think its so much a manager that will be the ultimate factor for someone joining a club. As long as you have the money to throw at them and are playing in Europe I really doubt they care who the manager is as long as they have not had a personal run in with them previously.
I don't disagree but it's all about timing. With different timing and circumstances we'd have got Rafa. Rafa was at a loose end so Newcastle got him when they ditched mclaren
It may depend on who is kicking around come the end of the season

;hmm
No thanks.
At least Avram won the Israeli championship while he was there, Jokanovic didn't even last a season
I think that is a certainty.
