Just checked. He did, he’s only ever scored goals in his most recent spell at Marseille and is a winger. If he’s the answer to our striker problems I don’t think we’ve asked the right question.
So if we are to believe the rumours concerning strikers in recent times
Bacca didn’t want to join us Lacazzette didn’t want to join us Bats didn’t want to join us Gomez didn’t want to join us Haller doesn’t want to join us
A bit of a common theme
:hmm:
Bacca was playing for AC Milan and eventually left for Villarreal who were playing in Europe. Lacazette went to Arsenal and has played European football every year since he moved. Batshuayi went to Chelsea and won the league, and played in Euope for Chelsea, Dortmund and Valencia. Gomez wanted Champions League, and Haller is linked with Champions League teams too.
I think the common theme is European football.
We want these players to push us up to the next level (whatever that is), but like grey said earlier (I think it was grey but I refuse to scroll back :diva:) they think they are already at the next level. Realistically we are going to sign players who haven't made it at the top level yet, and we will need to dig up a gem, probably.
Preston....I don't think thats a bad shout about Costa. He's one of those players that you dislike when they're with another team but having a big guy upfront with a ruthless streak, with a runner along side is not a bad thing
First reaction to Costa is what's he done and why would A Madrid want rid of him. Obviously hes not the most charismatic and it wasnt that long ago he got out of Chelsea to go to Athletico. Maybe hes age wise just starting to be past sell by date? Hes a big lump so that may tie in.
I didn't think Higuain, movement wise at least, looked that bad at all. There were plenty of voices coming out of Chelsea that he wasn't fit enough and wasn't coping with the EP L pace. Thats pretty normal initially though. He's a real natural predator and I think Anderson, Fornals, Lanzini and Yarmo would lay on plenty for him. Ok wages wise it'll be high (assuming so would Costa) and I would imagine we'd only loan him but I'd totally prefer him over Costa (although I doubt either will be coming)
I'd still be happy with Balotelli coming too :wahoo:
For me, it isn't that Costa is a diva, I just see him as a nasty piece of work, and would be very disappointed to see him in our shirt. Balotelli is mostly nuts off pitch, as opposed to on it.
Antonio is one of the few top flight forwards that can break a defensive line (as showed today). Higuaín and Chicha make it very hard for us to move forward as a team (to the final third). Arnie was great as he allowed us to many options in one package (hence so much better to watch when he played). So I basically a no from me for Higuaín.

Koscielny refuses to go on tour as he attempts to force Arsenal to release him on a free with a year to go on his contract.
Laczzette - often benched
Bats - loaned and benched
So not necessarily the right decisions on their part. :hmm:
:ok:
And Bats even ended up at Palace eventually!

Hugill
Prior to joining us, Hugill had played for 10 different clubs, including the mighty Seaham Red Star, Jerez Industrial and Marske United.
It was clearly a no brainer as to why we should have chosen to part with £10m to secure his services to take us to that next level
But we didn't, did we?
He was a January signing when we found ourselves near the end of the window and had several injured strikers. He was only ever emergency cover.

17/18 - Played 38 Yellow 15 Double Yellow 0 Red 1
16/17 - Played 28 Yellow 09 Double Yellow 1 Red 2
That's roughly two bookings every 5 games and sent off twice a season.
NUTS!!!! Whole hazelnuts! Ooohh...
