Cuellar was touted as a done deal by a journo, via C&H back in May:

  • We have apparently bid 10 million plus hughill or byram for Rondon. Great work agent Bilic.
  • is it not both players plus 10 m .guess we might have to up that a bit ,as i read they turned it down
  • One way to up the bid is to remove Hugill from the equation
  •
  • Having missed out on Gomes, AS report weare interested in another Everton player...

  • I expect the transfer market to explode once AFCON and Copa America are done
  • Yeold,

Copa America finishes on July 7 so Gomez can complete his transfer then.

AFCON goes onto 19 July which is a few weeks before we play Athletico Bilbao, not much time to settle in.

Understood we were looking a four of the French strikers at the Under 21's so they could join sooner.
  • Declan Rice comment today according to Daily Express.

The Hammers academy product publicly committed his future to the club on Twitter on Tuesday when asked by a fan if he plans on wearing the No.41 shirt next season.

He replied by saying: “Had loads of people asking this... I WILL be keeping 41 for this season.”

The no. 41 shirt at Man U is currently untaken...
  • ASLEF, surely a professional footballer wouldn't be that cynical would they? :hmm:
  • Surely a professional footballer couldn't count that high...
  • That's what agents are for.

Alot of Payet malarkey going on, on twitterz today :hmm:
  • Innit. From what I've read from a number of ITKs, we're waiting for the various tournaments to finish before anything will happen. Two of our rumoured targets, Gomez and Maripan, are at the Copa America so I doubt they'll be progressed until that's done.

I suspect we're also waiting to shift some players before we bring anyone else in. Hernandez, Obiang, Hugill and Byram probably represent £20-25m of our budget so a lot is dependent on them being sold.
  • Great name for a car, the Nissan Deezy

    :yercoat:
  • I would like Payet, Morrison, amazing left-back and a box to box powerhouse midfielder. Not sure what all the fuss is about Gomez, would prefer Arnie and Antonio over him anyday. I would take just payet though, would be wonderful, what an abosulte joy he was to watch. I think he controlls the ball with his mind.
  • Where does Payet (or Morrison) fit into the squad? We've just bought Fornals and we've got plenty of players to fill the attacking midfield/winger positions.

We'd end up with a lot of well paid benchwarmers.
  • We would have quality on the bench rather then dead wood. The quality would get a lot of game time, as many positions interchangeable. Morrison would replace Lanzini, who may struggle with the arrival of Formal anyway. Payet would walk into the side, putting Anderson on the right. Leaving the Ukraine and Antonio on the bench - replacing Arnie, Payet and Anderson whenever needed.
  • Morrison has done nothing to warrant being bought and as for Payet, dream on, after all the aggro he created when he left, he would not be welcome back.
  • Anderson has never looked any cop on the right. I don’t know why anyone would want a 32 year old Payet to come back and destabilise the dressing room. Personally, I only want characters that will improve the atmosphere around the club, without being high maintenance. Or Ravel. I love him.
  • I don’t get what Payet really did wrong. He wanted to go back to his old job cause his new one had become a joke. He came from the Euro finals, to a team that couldn’t beat part-timers with out him. Hardly broke the dressing room. Any player would dream of having him in the team, he makes everyone look 2 X better, one of the most unselfish quality players ever.
  • He signed a contract then went on strike.

    Those are the facts.

You might think there are justifications for that, but lots of people don't. They (and I count myself among them) think he should have honoured his contract and if desperate to leave then put in for a transfer at the end of the season.

You might not agree, but surely you can 'get' why people think he behaved badly.
  • I respect you point of view. I was personally ashamed to watch that season, it was tragic attempt to play football. Not sure if I have ever seen such a dis-jointed team. We certainly didn’t deserve Payet on any type of contract, it was tragic to see him wasting away. I was happy that he got away from that. We are at a level he would be able to enjoy and shine again finally. Would wet my pants if he came back.
  • We certainly didn’t deserve Payet on any type of contract

Except for when we spent £10.7m for him to join us, and then paid him around £100k per week.

Statements like that seem designed to get a rise out of people.

Money had nothing to do with why he left. If you put that to one side, and look at the genuine reasons, he had every right in the world to want out. I would never hold a grudge for that.
