"My future? I've heard so much talk, but I haven't spoken to [Napoli chairman] Aurelio de Laurentiis. I have a contract with Newcastle, I'm talking to them about my renewal.
"They made me some offers to stay here for a few more years, plus I have to manage my family. When I decided to go to Newcastle and stay there, even in the Championship, it was also because of my family.
"My priority is to stay in England. I'm only talking to Newcastle right now."
The interesting part is the last line, "right now". ;hmm
I have to say that I'm pretty underwhelmed by just about every name that's been mentioned except maybe Benitez. I honestly think that Moyes is at least as good as all of them. By the way, I'm not saying that I think he's that brilliant either but none of the others particularly inspire me.
But new owners traditionally employ their own managers.
That has certainly been the case at West Ham but it doesn't apply everywhere. WBA's current owners bought the club in September 2016 but Pulis continued as manager until November 2017.
Well if this is true or only half true this sums up my previous comment that none of us have that much faith/confidence that Sullivan & Gold will get this right. They may be good business people, but as far as matters football go they have no idea.
Grey - scattergun, just like their player transfer policy, bids and enquiries far and wide see which ones take the bait.
I would welcome Rafa as a potential upgrade on Moyes, that being said imo this whole situation is a farce, we’ve not officially let Moyes go, there have been indications from him that his contract ended even though it was widely reported to be 2.5 years with a 6 month break, but nobody has actually initiated the break. Moyes is still around and seemingly having to apply for his own job in essence after talks.
All the while the owner of our great club is openly interviewing applicants at his house, jeez.
I think Moyes has probably done enough to warrant a crack at it, I’ve a sneaky feeling he could do okay, but he’s probably upset the regime with his leaks and mentality/culture comments, if he does stay let it be on his terms, so he can try and keep the ringmaster of this circus in check.
Otherwise Dave, walk away you’ve restored your reputation.

Yes there have. Have you not read this thread?
Plus, I assume you saw that the Benitez tweet thing that Suz posted was a fake, and that Benitez has been quoted saying he's not in talks with anybody other than Newcastle?
I can only see grounds for calling it 'scattergun' if you believe all the rumours and gossip that are being touted ... and believe them in the face of actual direct contradiction from the mouths of some of the involved parties.
Also, can you explain the difference between 'scattergun' and 'exploring the options rather than taking the first person that expresses an interest'? ;hmm

It was widely reported a few years ago that Parker was our captain and not Upson. Just because the media believe or say something doesn't mean it's true. In a lot of cases I would say yeah go with the common reporting, but if Moyes said his contract ended Sunday night then I can't imagine too many other people know better than what he's said.
I can’t see Benitez coming anywhere near us with S&G in charge. I see now it looks likely that Alladuce is going to be paid off on the remaining 12 months of his contract. Any decent manager we look at will think West Ham Utd or Everton?.....er Everton it is then. Fact is we have or had a decent manager in Moyes and given time he’ll do ok. There is no quick fix in football, never was, never will be.

Yes I have
Yes I know it was fake, and?
Imo they have a scattergun approach to most things, they don’t do decisive decisions well as Luke had previously posted

All due respect Alderzzz the Parker/Upson thing was just lazy journalism driven by the factor Scotty appeared to lead us
With regards Moyes contract I had the same (above) confirmed by at least two well known sources
I find it hard to fathom that anyone still believes our owners don’t bend the truth and that they have any sort of long term plan (apart from making a lot of money)
Fact is we have or had a decent manager in Moyes and given time he’ll do ok. There is no quick fix in football, never was, never will be.
Well for West Ham it seems there is no slow fix either?
Sam was here for 4 years. He was never accepted by a section at any time. Coupled with that at a time when he was really making progress, he was not supported by a signing or two that could have let us really kick on.
And then Slav - at a time he was really flying again not supported (eMinike etc)
And now Moyes - who knows who was behind the Jan signings, but the less said the better.
Comments
Not sure on Pellegrini don't think it would work.
Fonseca don't know much really.
The autonomy over transfers is key for me though. Give him money. Let him spend it.
Quite encouraged by this. Hopefully it's got some legs.
That's from yesterday and includes some quotes: The interesting part is the last line, "right now". ;hmm
'@SkySportsKeth'. I'd be surprised if Keith Downie would spell his name wrong in his own handle.
Just checked; his official handle is '@SkySports_Keith'
So yeah, no legs at all I suspect
Offers everything good about Moyes plus more
Wouldnt mind the shaktar guy he seems exciting
But im not feeling confident
;yercoat

You wouldn't get very good odds betting against him as the source of the 'leak'.

'his contract ended at midnight on Sunday'.
It seems as though the earlier 'widely reported to be 2.5 years with a 6 month break' wasn't actually accurate.
You live and learn.

But it wasn't 'widely' reported, despite what you seem to remember, and Moyes' comments would lead you to think it wasn't the case.
