Who would've envisaged such circumstances a couple of years ago ( as in we'd be in for England no1 GK )?

Didn't we have one of those once before?

  • I thought he was Englands Number 6. ;lol
  • Each to there own but it is strange to me that people don't think that Hart is a step up from what we have. And I love Adrian.

  • the fact that no one else seems interested in Hart tells its own story

Because he is grossly out of form to the point the torino chairman literally said they expected him to be better

He hasn't exactly lit up the EPL for the last couple years and he has been dropped from the England squad

Find it ironic that the many people that say it's only one bad season he had also forgetting fact that up untill this year not a single person cared that we had Adrian in the team.....surely if Hart is allowed a bad season then so is Adrian

Most importantly it's not that he's not an upgrade on Adrian/Randy that people are against this it's the fact that there are far more pressing concerns in the squad and Harts wage alone could potentially affect more important transfers I.e. some reliable and superior strikers
  • But we can sign other players whilst still looking to sign strikers
  • I think people are perfectly able to accept a bad keeper is a bad keeper, whether that's Adrian or Hart.

The reason I am happy with Hart is that I know that, at his best, he's much better than Adrian will ever be.

It wasn't very long ago at all that he was considered one of the best in the world by practically everybody, managers and pundits alike.

He's lost confidence because somebody regularly cited as the best manager in the world, Guardiola, came in and booted him out without a chance. That's got to hurt.

Then he goes to Torino low on confidence, probably trying too hard to prove himself, in a new league with a different style, in an average team facing a lot of pressure in matches, and it's no real shock he didn't do great.

But he is a leader and the worst part of our season last season, worst than anything else, was the shambolic organisation of our back 4/5, and the pathetic way we capitulated after going a goal down time and again.

Having a very accomplished leader and PL winner organising the back four will be a huge bonus.

And, when he gets his confidence back, he will, IMO, return to being considered one of the best in the league.

We will get the strikers but facts remain, keep clean sheets and you only need one goal.

    Sam, is that you?

Yes, 'calamity' James... Harts still young in GK terms (and normally we'd not be in with a chance of him IMO) and has a few years as a top player if he regains that confidence. Whilst I won't be upset at all if he doesnt come (wages mainly), i'll be happy to see him organizing our defence if he doesarrive.

Are you saying you think he's an upgrade or not? And reports suggest we are to pay half half his wages.

Just because we badly need strikers doesn't mean we shouldn't improve other positions if opportunities come up. If for whatever reason we fail to sign a striker I'd rather we had improved the rest of the team than not.
  • So it is reported we will pay half of his £100k wage - what an abolsutely cracking deal. Can't me on Dave's, close the deal quickly. On those terms it would be an outstanding deal for a true leader on the field.
  • Looks like it might be announced today
  • It's obvious we need a striker, but our defence last season was an absolute shambles, a much bigger problem than going forward.

Hart and Zab are two excellent signings, both in quality and in their leadership abilities.

    Great window so far.
  • Newcastle now linked with Randolph.

Barcelona front man Munir El Haddadi for 8-10 million is being mentioned on media outlets.
  • Surely that's Barcelona 'B' frontman?
  • Thought Newcastle wanted hart
  • So it's entirely possible (assuming the rumour has legs)

We sign Hart on loan. He does really well, but doesn't want to sign for us at the end of the season and goes off to another club.

We lose at least one of Randy and Adrian.

We start next season looking for a new keeper.

Not sure that works out so well for us.
  • If the Dave's pull this joe hart thing off, there no doubting them of not afraid to spend money.
  • Any player who joins us and does well might want to leave at the end of the season

    I don't think that's a big issue.

Next summer, we either buy Hart for price X, or buy somebody else for the same amount. Whatever the case, we need an improvement on Randy and Adrian, and getting Hart on loan and him enjoying his football here would give us a great chance of keeping him ahead of other suitors.

He strikes me as a guy who just wants to enjoy being a top keeper again. If we give him that, I'm pretty sure we'd hang on to him next season if we wanted to, unless a top 6 team came in for him.

    Jorderz ;ok

Grey - I think it's a risk worth taking, to be honest. If we give Hart the opportunity to prove himself to be England's No1, and he ends up doing so, I'd like to think he'd repay that faith by signing permanently next summer (assuming we can afford him, but I would imagine a fee will be agreed as part of the loan deal ;hmm )

It's also entirely possible Adrian has a stormer of a season and then his contract runs out and he leaves, or forces a move, or doesn't have a stormer of a season.

Yes, long term is important, but so is getting the highest quality players on the pitch that we can.
  • I think if we get Hart it will raise the profile of the club a bit making us more attractive to other players . It shows we have ambition and a club that's is hopefully going places and I don't mean the championship ;lol

really, really don't understand what's not to like about the Hart dealEnglands No.1 booted out by Pep because he wants a ball playing 11th man so he can lure the opposition out and hurt them that way, geezer who went to a very leaky defence in Italy....

Cracking deal when you think about some of the mistakes and wobbly's our current two have made (even tho I do like them both - just not Adrian's showboating)

    Hart:
    2 PL titles.
    1 FA Cup.
    2 League Cups.
    4 PL golden gloves.
    2 PL TOTS inclusions.
    71 England caps.

    Adrian:
    Scored a penalty vs Everton.
  • You could also argue that Hart could have a great season, signs for us and is our No 1 keeper for the next 5 years . It will be up to our other keepers to prove they are better than him . Competition for places is what we need in all areas of the pitch.
  • Adrian signed a two year contract extension in May so unless he puts in a transfer request then he could be with us for the next two seasons.

Randolph signed a four year contract extension in July 2016 so he could be with us for another three seasons

He has played many timed for Barca and was on loan at Valencia last season. He is a very good player
