    If the club does actually keep him, it's not the best move either.

    We feel gutted by his behaviour - imagine how they feel!!

    Why on earth would they want to spend time with him socially? I wouldn't! Not until he'd apologised at least.

    The silence (in the public domain, anyway) is deafening.


    Outcast, if he stays, it's going to be a rocky road back for him. I don't think this supposed exclusion from a social event is really going to be the issue should they have to mend fences later on. The relationship had completely broken down before this.

    Anyway, I think he's on his way, and they all know it. So it's moot.

    Maybe they'll invite him to his leaving party. ;champagne

    The whole thing feels like Dimi has been given preferential treatment all season, which has created a grudge amongst other players. Extra break, then no real game time in friendlies, then a couple of games off at the start of the season. Rumours that he's given extra training days off and sometimes goes awol with very few (if any) questions asked.

    I think that's why we're getting this rumoured reaction from the players. Almost as if resentment has been boiling, and they're wound up 1) that he was give special treatment and 2) that he's now thrown that treatment back in their faces. And that brings us on to Slav, who looked like a man who has regretted his decisions (maybe the call to go easy on Dimi because it's Dimi) and felt like he'd 1) been let down by him and 2) maybe Slav felt he'd let his fellow players down because of those calls, hence the focus on the rest of the squad since he broke the news.

    All me reading between lines that might not be there and probably all wrong, but just my gut feeling on it.

    I think the family reasons are genuine, but his behaviour and potential special treatment has caused a lot of bad feeling now that he's thrown in the towel. Add all that to him being bigged up as our star player over the last 12 months and being on a decent wage...

    Well let's hope that should Mr & Mrs Nobes go through a rough patch then the players will expect him to show up every day for training and the club to have no sympathy.

    Removing him from a what's app group and not inviting to the dinner comes across to me as somewhat childish to be honest. However badly he may have gone about things surely the other employees should try and maintain their own conduct. It's all a bit "tit for tat" and it would seem to me to be pointless asking him to apologise (to his team mates) as their minds appear to have been made up.

    You would have thought the easier thing would have been to invite him as it is almost certain he would have declined anyway!

    Yet there is zero evidence any of this is the actual case of what has happened with Dimi.

    I read an article last night (can't remember where, so I can't share it) that said that he wanted to go back to France because MrsP was unwell, which was a new angle.

    I think that if Mr & Mrs Noble ever go through a rough patch it's highly unlikely that Mr Noble will jack his job in.

    Yes but according to official statements from the club and its manager he very much is and is going nowhere.

    Moojor, there's no evidence of anything other than he has refused to play. The reasons behind that maybe many and various but we don't know for sure.

    Agreed there isn't, but the reaction from Slav to the refusal to play doesn't come across as someone who has been told that due to serious family issues Dimi isn't in the right place to play at the moment.
    Using the evidence we have, which is Slav's and the clubs response and Dimi's pervious in doing this sort of thing we can make an informed guess as to why he has refused to play.

    We don't know the reasons, but we can read an awful lot into the pain and reactions of those who do know the reasons.

    We don't know the reasons, but we can read an awful lot into the pain and reactions of those who do know the reasons.
    Totally agree with this, players like Nobes and Collins don't seem to be the sort of people who wouldn't support a fellow player if their personal life was falling apart due to family issues.

    Ding, ding, ding! Three big transfer stories in a row - the latest features West Ham man Dimitri Payet.

    Sky sources understand he is turning down wages of £500,000-a-week from three Chinese Super League clubs because he wants to return to Marseille.

    Hebei China Fortune and two other CSL clubs have contacted Payet’s representatives to say they are willing to pay him £26 million a year to move to China. Hebei China Fortune are managed by former Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini.

    Payet is refusing to play for West Ham and has told manager Slaven Bilic he wants to return to France for family reasons. He earns £125,000-a-week at West Ham and is willing to take a pay cut of at least 30 per cent to move back to Marseille.

    Marseille made a second bid of £20 million for Payet on Monday. West Ham want at least £30 million.

    Seems to me the consensus is that whatever the motivation, (and most accept it probably has something to do with family rather than greed) it is the way he has gone about things that has rankled.

    My Liverpool supporting mate said Payet not worth more than 20 million as he has no resale value. He reckons you should only buy players you can sell later . So I asked him if Liverpool were just a more upmarket expensive of Southampton ;lol

    I personally still doubt the family PR, seems like a backtrack, on the basis that there's no evidence for it and the way Bilic and the club have treated Payet suggests to me his reason isn't so valid.

    I mean, would Bilic really have hung Payet out to dry in the press conference if Payet had asked to leave because of family issues?

    Would he have sent him to train with the kids?

    You'd think Noble would have used his interview to say Payet is going through a tough time, too, but he didn't.

    Same with Carroll.

    Everybody seems hurt and angry. As a club, I feel like our entire reaction would have been different if Payet was going through terrible family problems.

    Time will tell if it ends up being

    A) china - in which case it will have been a money reason
    B ) a Man Utd or Chelsea - in which case he wanted a "better" club than us
    C) Marseille (on I would assume a lower wage) which may well then point to homesickness/family issues

    If, indeed, it is a family/wife problem, there is possibly another factor that needs to be considered. Perhaps for Payet, culturally (he's from Reunion), it's difficult/embarrassing/humiliating to discuss it or even to make it public.

    Any or all of that might be true, but it still wouldn't explain or excuse his behaviour, imo.

    Still think he would have communicated privately to Bilic and Noble at least, even just the gist of it, who would then have led the way in acting far more sympathetic, which would then have filtered through to fans who, without needing to know the specifics, would get the idea that all was not well.

    Their lack of sympathy and their obvious hurt suggests the reason is not one that deserves much sympathy.
