  • Saying Payet and Bilic had an agreement about the Man City game and that Bilic broke it is an invention ;ok

    You forgot something

    "In my opinion"

Because as I said - nobody knows for sure.

Believe what you want, it's your choice.

Sure, it's an opinion that something which has no certifiable basis in reality is an invention. I'm well within my rights, I'm sure you agree, to say that something has been made up when nothing is offered in the way of evidence to support it ;ok

We may as well just say:

Vladimir Putin has compromising salacious material about Dimitri Payet to blackmail him into joining CSKA Moscow and playing the banjo at the Kremlin on Thursday nights.

There's nothing to support it, but it's an opinion, so perfectly valid, right?

I agree Payet has said he won't play, but Slav while revealing the general details of what had happened said he wouldn't disclose the actual conversations

Yes, Payet has refused to play and this is what people are upset about, because there are no valid reasons for being perfectly fit and refusing to play.

If I refuse to go into work next week, I get fired and my house gets repossessed.

If my family want to move to France, I still go into work.

If I want to move to a different company, I still go to work.

If I feel my boss has been unfair, I still go into work.

The WHY he has refused to help the team and the fans who worship him is not very important.
  • Not sure how I lost the quote marks there, but might make it more interesting if you also have to guess who said what ;lol
  • Not going over the same stuff again and again let's just leave it there.

    ;ok
  • Yes Aslef, so on that limited information, inventing a stick to beat the club or the manager with is wrong IMO ;ok

Absolutely but equally we can't 100% condemn Payet without knowing all the facts as his decision might be justified.

Gosh it's hard being grown up.....
I think we can count on the fact that he's refusing to play, considering Bilic has very candidly recounted actual conversations with Payet.

I think that's the reason most people are annoyed. I'm sure the PL is full of players who currently want to leave their club. Payet (as far as I know) is the only one who thinks he can decide whether or not he plays for the club which employs him.
Bilic hasn't candidly recounted his conversation with Payet, in fact he specifically said he wasn't going to say what was said between him and Payet.

We have no idea what was aaid so everything else is conjecture.
  • He's explained what has been communicated by Payet, and is quoted as saying he checked in with Payet between the initial conversation and the press conference to check if Payet was standing by what it was he'd communicated.

Right, but he never went into full detail about the initial conversation

be interesting to see how this all pans out

But he's refused to play. That's indefensible ;ok

Correct never questioned it, are purposely trying to wind up?
  • Surely the manner of today's events puts payet's price up? So he can sit in the reserves? No problem, no problem at all
  • ;lol

    No, not at all ;ok

I'm just refuting your suggestions that there's enough room for doubt in the facts which have been presented to offer Payet a defence.

Based on the facts we have, Payet has refused to play. IMO that means he's beyond defence.

You've made suggestions in a lot of comments that there's room for doubt and an element of the unknown in what's gone on, in an attempt to mitigate for Payet. I'm saying that he's refused to play, and that's completely unacceptable, regardless of exactly why.

Anyway, I thought you said you wanted to leave it? ;wink
  • Look pal....

I've said all along that Payet is at fault here, it wasn't me that suggested Slav was to blame that was someone else.

I've not defended Payet other than to say there is always another side to the story, plus if Slav did put him on with 10 left then that may not of helped the situation but I can see why he did it

Yes I really do want to leave it, it's boring now

  • I had no idea Payet played the banjo! Perhaps he can get a part in deliverance 2 , if his move back to France falls through ;whistle

    Sure thing pal ;ok

    Quite right.

    Bolasie went for £30m!

If Marseilles really want him they'll pay up.

This has all been engineered between DP and OM so that they can get him for a low fee.

    Unlucky.
  • Jolly good.

They unsettled him so they can't pay and pay big.
  • He will go for 40m......

That being said, I'm not sure there isn't another twist in all this. It's rumoured that he's split from his wife, some kind of extra marital stuff going on, it's not really a surprise that he's desperate to get back to France (again not defending him, before anyone jumps on my case!)

Slav seems adamant that he's not for sale, unless the convo's with the board was "he's not for sale under a certain price, then he can go"

As I said before, imagine if Payet left it for a few weeks, took stock and said that he was wrong, public apology and makes up with Slav.....

Team mates welcome him back into the fold.......

    How do the fans react?

    (all unlikely I know)
  • If he did all of that Slizzy he'd have to put a proper shift in for several games. Show he is a team player and not just be let me hog the line light egotist.

Then I might have a rethink.
  • Too late. Fans and players have already made their stance clear.
  • If he puts on the shirt and plays his heart out, I'll welcome him back no trouble.

    Everyone can make a mistake.
  • What I've found interesting

    On the whole

With the Payet situation it has been West Ham will unite as a team and pull together

    But with Costa

Chelsea will implode and not win the league

    ;hmm
  • But they are a nasty hateful club full of evil and villainy.

    ;biggrin
  • Would happily sell Payet for £30/35mil then we can try bring in Sigurdsson for £20mil of that made use the rest to finally bring in Hogan
