  • Yes, 50% of our new signings have come from relegated sides. Not sure that helps with the culture building Potter is aiming for.

Joe Cole, Michael Carrick, Paolo Di Canio, Jermaine Defoe and Glen Johnson all got signed from a relegated side.

    I've never got over it!

    How far back you going?
  • Current signings - this window
  • Grealish has already got two assists on the board in his first start for Everton. I really would have liked him.
  • The Mail report that Villa are showing interest in Paquetá.

Fair enough. We'll take Watkins and Tielemans in payment.

Depends on the fee I guess, we need incoming not outgoings but honestly £50mil and his wages off the books would be great if it allows incoming

Don't think he's good enough, even before the gambling stuff he never quite clicked here. 28 years old and surely will be going for nothing if we go down

We need bodies, if Paqueta leaving free room for 2 or 3 new players we need to take it seriously

If it's a loan to buy.... why even bother
  • Don't want to loose him .To late in the window
  • He seemed to be making a big fuss of the badge after scoring, he seemed to love that badge, A report in the Sunday paper said he loved it so much that he had been found painting the West Ham badge on a roundabout and zebra crossing near his house, loved it so much he did.
  • If Paqueta goes it would be crazy. We would then probably need x 3 Midfielders
  • Apparently Irving will be off to Wrexham and Rodriguez to Espanyol
  • Let’s hope so.

Leaves us with Souček & JWP, with Potts.

    Then we need another two.
  • Football Insider claim we're negotiating to sign Yves Bissouma on loan or permanent

44 appearances with 28 starts for Spurs last season but hasn't even made the bench so far

Played in every pre-season friendly apart from the PSG match

90 appearances at Brighton under Potter

But its Football Insider so probably not that reliable
  • Football Insider is the worst of all sites

Agree, but new players will need time to bed in, I can hear the excuses now! Personally, I would have kept some of the others rather than JWP, who is not living up to “hype”.

Or perhaps they might of thought of changing players months ago? 🤦‍♂️⚒

Bissouma I don’t want, but he did play well for Potter at Brighton so we know he fits his style.

Him as a second choice & the budget on another midfielder. Wouldn’t be the worst two signings.

I still believe we actually now need a striker & CB after the first two games. Those three CBs are going to concede a shed load this season.
  • I must admit I struggle to see the advantage in letting Alvarez go out on loan if we're supposedly short on cash to bring in the midfielders we need. It's not even as if there's an easy-to-meet obligation as there was with Todibo last season; there's only an option. So we're down a player, we've lost the opportunity to sell an asset, and the squad is no better off; all we've done is save a bit of wages.
  • Hermansen
    Todibo - Mavropanos - Kilman
    Wan-Bissaka - Bissouma - Fernandes - Diouf
    Bowen - Paquetá - Summerville

    Might just get Potter going...
  • Jeez you know it's bad when we're in this situation and hoping a Bissouma loan will sort us out

Classic we didn't wanna pay for Morton who we were linked with all summer and he's started for Lyon on fire

We are such a horribly run club
  • If the option is nobody or Bissouma, then yes
  • Is Bissouma better than we have is surely the question.

So if there are 1000 players that we have is it alright to get the ones whos ranked?

I'd rather ask Is Bissouma the best option of those that are available

I'm no scout, but struggle to see how we can't do better

Is Bissouma better than two statues in CM? Yes.
  • Conor Gallagher may be available. Did we not go in for him when he left Chelsea? Good idea? Better than what we have?
  • Fabrizio Romano and others reckons Palace are already in talks over Gallagher. He started Atletico's first match vs Espanyol but was substituted at half time and came on 68th minute in the second match vs Elche

Palace have got Eze money to spend, about to get Guéhi money and they're going to be in Europe this season. Gallagher was their best player when he was on loan 2021/22 and the fans loved him.

Plenty of reasons why he'd choose Palace
  • Also plenty of reasons why he won't choose us =)
  • Other clubs should be trying to tempt Bowen at this point, I think he would tip Arsenal into real title contenders and Sakho is injured again after two matches. Bowen will probably sense it's time to go now if he ever wants to move to a big club.
  • candbsky, How much are we going to accept for Bowen or even Paqueta for that matter?
  • They can get him for cheap once we go down

Honestly selling Bowen even for £100mil would guarantee us going down, he is our talisman our captain and is the only player who is showing that they care
