Summer Transfer Speculation (its just two months away)

Did anyone else know that the transfer window will open 1st June, close on 10th June then reopen on 16th June and finally close 1st September as usual.

I thought it was an April Fools' joke but apparently the Premier League agreed it on Thursday and its something to do with the World Club Championship which is being played in the USA this summer

Anyway, transfer news.

Ex reckons we're after Burnley's England U21 DC/DR/DM CJ Egan-Riley who will be available on a free in the summer

CJ???

Yeah, it's because there's a limit to the number of days in a year that can be in a transfer window, and if the summer transfer window went right through from 1st June to 1st September, we'd exceed the maximum (as laid down by FIFA I think). It's opening on 1st June mainly for the benefit of the clubs at the Club World Cup (ie Chelsea and Man City), but obviously has to apply to all clubs.

  • No I wasn’t aware of that ,but boy it makes it even more exciting!
  • This means we can have a 'who won the first half of the transfer window' competition followed by a 'who won the second half of the transfer window' competition. Of course West Ham will win both but by the end of October we will all say what a rubbish window we had. 🤷‍♂️
  • On the bright side, we’ll get to listen to those Sky ‘experts’ twice. 🤪⚒

It will be a big window for us and I hope we have some money to spend still. I feel its our poor return for our money in the summer which has caused us to have the season we have. It is of course not all down to poor buying as injuries have also played their part.

We knew the two most essential needs were a centre back pairing and a striker and sadly we have been left for most of the season without a striker due to Fulkrugs injury and Antonio's car accident, then we have ended up needing play five in defence to provide enough solidity as Mavro can't be trusted, Tobido has been injured and mostly average when playing. Kilman looks ok but not a domineering presence in the style of Zouma or Ogbonna.

I think Aguard should return as I would have been much happier with him in place of any line up which featured Mavro this season. I presume Fulkrug will remain and hopefully stay fit but we will still need another striker brought in.
