I've moved all comments that were on this page, I didn't scroll back multiple pages, because you can get the gist of the discussion with just what's been moved.
@Fortuneseeker i read that this morning, but i also read on twitter that we are doing an internal investigation on the controversies of Wahi. I cant find the link now though. Sorry!
I've been looking at some stats for the strikers we've been linked with, and comparing them to Antonio. My feeling is that Antonio is crucial to the way we play, and any striker that we sign should be similar in playing style to him. We've seen strikers like Gianluca Scamacca & Sebastien Haller struggle in the side as our playing style is not suited to them, and we probably want to avoid that.
The main two links I've seen are Folarin Balogun & Elye Wahi, so they are both shown below, and I've also included Danny Ings as a reference point.
The horizontal blue line is Antonio's performance in each of the areas listed down the right hand side, and the colour coded dots (orange for ball carrying, grey for hold up play, yellow for defending, blue for creating, and green for finishing) show the performance of the named individual in comparison to Anotnio.
Basically, if a dot is very close to Antonio's line it means the player has very similar stats to him. If it is much higher than Antonio's it means the player has a much higher stat, and if lower than it's lower. If we're looking for someone to be similar to Antonio, we basically want the dots to be very close to the line.
The key takeaways here are: 1. Danny Ings is nothing like Antonio (as expected) 2. Folarin Balogun is a lot worse for hold up play and defending from the front, but a much better finisher. His ball carrying is very similar to Antonio. 3. Elye Wahi looks to be most similar to Antonio in playing style. He's a better finisher, but he's not quite as good for defending and holding up play.
I was actually talking about that with Jorderz a couple of weeks ago. I've seen a lot of football analytics jobs appear in my LinkedIn feed over the years, but never at West Ham. The most common ones are Liverpool, Spurs, Man City and Newcastle. I have often wondered if there is a correlation between our lack of recruitment into analytical roles and the perception of us having a fairly scattergun and chaotic approach to player recruitment.
Konstantinos Mavropanos, 25yo CB, 19 caps for Greece, 32 starts last season out of 34 he was available, missed 2 games suspended and 4 injured.
8 appearances for Arsenal 2017-18/2018-19, most notable moment was getting a straight red against Leicester after 15 minutes for trying to de-bag Iheanacho
As Granville famously muttered “you’ll never get that on the back of a shirt”
Alderz, the number of dots in each colour don't correspond with the number of sub-headings under each action, e.g under hold-up play (grey) there are 7 possibilities, yet there are far than 7 grey dots on the graphs of each player. Or am I misreading the graphs.

You aren't misreading at all. For some reason a big section of the key has disappeared. I'll replace that.
Alderz, when do you actually find time to do all these analyses, as I'm sure you wouldn't be doing them while you're at work, would you?
You'd be surprised how little time this takes. Pulling all of this information together took about 15 minutes. You just need to know where to look, and how to create visualisations quickly

Well spotted.
And alderz, thanks for amending in light of this 👍.
I would've been fine with Maguire if it wasnt 30M Its a price that makes us look like complete mugs for a player Utd dont want. 10M and we'd have a decent experienced defender
Dawson left because wanted to be closer to his family, the only way he's coming back is if we dig up the London Stadium and move it to Crewe
I don't really care who Moyes brings in, if he thinks a player will do a good job for us then I'm going to trust his judgement as someone who has been a football professional as a player and a manager for 45 years.
Comments
He's still close enough to his prime age and his lack of football over a long period will possibly ensure he's not burnt out.
Also its the only thing I can find to keep Moyes at the club. He can use his arm around Lingard to show him love

Have you thought about offering your services to the club?
Nothing to lose if you are really interested.
That leaves us with:
Zouma
Aguerd
Kehrer
Ogbonna
Mavropanos
As CB options. Does that mean a back 3/5 or is Kehrer going to become a proper RB option with Coufal, maybe with Johnson covering Emerson.
Well it made me laugh 😂
Guardian reports that Chelsea and Spurs are after Brennan Johnson while Lewis Hall is going to Newcastle
And alderz, thanks for amending in light of this 👍.
So far, West Ham haven't done anything 'in their wisdom'.
Some bloke who posts a lot about the club says a footballer is, according to what he's heard but has no 1st hand knowledge of, impressive in training.
Based on what he's heard in that regard, he's expressed a personal (only) opinion that a signing of the impressive player is likely.

Except Zaha.
