  • Didnt see the Man Utd game but noted a defender off at half time and Lindelof coming on. Does that mean Maguire goes up another pecking order rung? Maybe they'll do us a favor, keep him and save us 30M!
  • There is interest in the Bayer Leverkusen duo Jonathan Tah and Odilon Kossounou.

I think he only came off because Martinez was on a yellow.

  • Tah very much ;)
  • Why are we so keen on Manchester United rejects? Moyes managed most of them, and they were useless then, and older now. Rant over.

  • This is from SSN ‘paper talk’ from Daily Mail, a new name for me, never heard of this player ??…

Lovro Majer has emerged as a name under discussion at West Ham to possibly replace Lucas Paqueta.

Without checking anything , I’m pretty sure he’s a Croatian attacking midfielder who is a bit good on Football Manager. I’ve definitely bought him on the game before.
  • Signing Kudus would be a good move, sorry, but he isn't a orthodox CF so maybe DM is still planning to play Bowen up the middle? We should be after Etitike as a better option and leave Jarrod where he is.
  • If we’re going to sign a striker I would personally like it to be Folarin Balogun. I was looking at some stats last week and he has really similar stats to Antonio, which is clearly important for us.
  • Sign both. Even if Paqueta stays, he most definitely leaves next season and Balogun for the here and now.
  • Fabianski can go then

The guy arguably was planning on getting dropped last year for Areola but we gave him the #1 Jersey for the entire season

Hes 38 now and he's been our number 1 for what, 5 years? He's gonna cry after getting dropped once?

And it's not like we aren't in the Europa where he will clearly start as Moyes has a keeper for each competition, just like Areola was patient last year

The only issue there is whether Moyes did it in a ‘respectful’ manner. Whatever that is.

A manager has the right to make whatever decision he feels is best. Doesn’t matter if it shocks you. I was surprised that Areola started, but I agree we, at some point, need to give him a chance to stake a claim.

How Moyes told Fabianski, we’ll never know. I don’t really know if there is a respectful way to tell a goalkeeper they are being dropped.

In any case, given his experience & age, going to the media about it isn’t great.

Balogun and Kudus would give us a lot of pace that we've lost as Antonio is getting older

Am a bit suspect of Balogun, especially with a £50mil (rumoured) price tag

Hes had one good season, other than that he's not really shown much. Wonder if it's a flash in the pan season or if its legit. Bit of a risk either way.
  • Balogun has a EPL price on his head. Better options are out there across the globe who would cost less but we would have to wait until Christmas to see them play due to DM.

Despite being a USA international, Balogun would also be a home grown player. We do need some of those, still.

Fabianski going to the press seems really odd, always thought of him as a model pro. But then again, I also didn't really expect Cresswell to stop training. It does seem very strange to me that two players that we all thought were realistic choices to be the new club captain are both in these situations.
  • I think the common denominator between Cresswell and Fabianski is their age. They're at the stage in their careers where getting left out of the first team is deemed a threat to their future in the game. They don't want to spend their last days in the game as bench warmers so get agitated at the thought.
  • Harry Maguire’s move to West Ham has collapsed after the club grew tired of waiting. They are now moving onto other targets (Jacob Steinberg, The Guardian).

Maybe there’s something in the club extending both deals with full knowledge they would be bench players & not being open with both players about this, so a sense of being deceived.

    Good!!

    Get someone younger
  • Could be a negotiation tactic. Like with JWP. They come back to the table, we call their bluff.
  • The Telegraph reports we want Brennan Johnson.
  • I’ve liked what I’ve seen of Brennan Johnson, which admittedly isn’t loads.

I thought we’d had a bid accepted, and it is the player that’s delaying as he wants a payoff?
  • Maguire will go to Villa now Mings is out for the duration.

He will still want 15 million quid, allegedly, to leave Utd. Can't see them paying that.
  • It’s a shame as I feel Maguire will do well here. But if the extra £££ is more important to him & the club have heard nothing we need to move on.
  • I'd like to see the original source for these quotes. So much destabilising stuff seems to get published these days without a specific reference to what was said, when and to whom. I'm sceptical about the veracity.

If Maguire goes to Villa what's the betting he ends up being their player of the season.

    There you go. 😂
