  • Just a pity we going into the 1st game of the new season in a worse situation than the last game of last season.
I know there are incomings b4 transfer window closes, but this should not have happened IMO, just screams of poor management/ preparation etc, but hey I’m only a fan so have no say etc….
  • Having accepted that most top players have no loyalty to anyone but themselves< Cresswell is a rare example, who has got on with the job. Its understood that he was devasted not to play in the ECL final, who would`nt be. I am given to understand hes has no wish to leave. There is a lot of spurious rumours floating about. I feel for JWP being sold, he is one of the players left in the EPL, and is Saints talisman, their Nobes. We sign players on long contracts and most dont see them out. Paqueta is no Din Canio, who without doubt loves our club. At the end of the day its all about money. That is presumably why the likes of Dan Potts, Coventry and Downes, all good players are sold like Ashby (I thought he had potential) because they dont attract big tv audiences. Its difficult to put out 2 teams a week, especially when you have an injury list like ours. So the point Iam making is this, will Paqueta be a true professional and play for us to best of his ability or sulk. This is my issue with buying overseas pl\yers, they dont understand our culture and their duty to give blood to the cause! in the 70s and 80s when trailing the team would battle to dying embers. Dont see that so much now. We need players who can score goals, like Pop Robson, TC, CC and Andy Carroll. Thanks for reading, hope it makes sense. COYI
  • I don’t think we play good football, but also since coming back Moyes has the highest win % of any permanent manager we’ve ever had, and has won a trophy. So… why would he change style at all?
  • There are times when I've enjoyed the football under Moyes, and other times when it's been poor.

For me, it's not so much about giving up possession that defines good or bad football. It's about being dangerous and being exciting. At our best under Moyes, you felt that we had a threat, whether on the counter or breaking very quickly.

A lot of last season felt like giving up the ball for most of the game, only to then be clueless and not have any kind of threat in possession.
  • This he has won us a trophy is enough to make me 🤢! It would have been more of an issue if we hadn’t with the squad he had available. We won a lot of games against inferior opposition in Europe. Our league form has been poor for the last eighteen months. How many trophies has DM won playing his brand of football over many years? What do you reckon he would have done if he had the like of Di Canio, Brooking, Devonshire in his squad or McAvennie and Cottee, would have still played his “style” of football?
  • So if we win the FA Cup by beating Swindon, Ipswich, Bristol City, Bournemouth, Sheff Utd and Villa it will be meaningless?

People thinking the manager deserves some respect for being the first person in some of our lifetimes to win a trophy makes you sick? Pointing out that he has achieved more than any West Ham manager in 40 years makes you sick?

    Ok
  • @IronHerb, No it wouldn’t be as three of those teams are in the same league as us unlike most of the teams we have played in Europe the exceptions being Sevilla, Lyon & Eintracht who out of six games against them we won 2 of them.
  • I actually think it’s pretty pathetic that fans of West Ham would be the ones to diminish the accomplishment of winning the conference league, tbh.
  • The conference league is only a couple of years old tbf. so moyes is the only manager to get an opportunity to try and win it for us.

Meaningless in that we'd never get run like that in the F.A. Cup hahaha
  • To clarify it was great to win the ECL Trophy ok. It's all the David Moyes is untouchable because we won that competition, something he also appears to believe, is what is making me feel sick. ok. If that isn't with some ok. I can live with it as I can with people feeling I am pathetic as I am allowed have my own opinions as are they ok.
  • Just been on the "The fighting cock".They're all very angry with Mr Levy......so funny =)

I’m not surprised. Imagine if we’d sold Rice today…

He’s not untouchable, but to pretend he has no credit in the bank after his achievements here (more than any other manager in our PL history) is ridiculous and some of the abuse and flack he gets on social media from a selection of the fan base is simply pathetic.

Wonder what that fan was doing who made and displayed the Moyes Out banner at Fulham when we won the ECL?

If he walked I would not blame him and I look forward to our consecutive top 7 finishes and trophy in the next 3 years the new manager will undoubtedly achieve as it’s easy.

    Never said you were pathetic.
  • Yup, said it before I wouldn’t blame him if he walked. There are obviously so many potential managers on football forums who can do a far better job. They could get us playing like world beaters and just go and sign any player that has a good game for QPR today.
    Doddle of a job really.

The thing is Luke, it's the PL that pays the wages, not a one-off trophy.
West Ham's PL performance has been pretty average to say the least since January 2022. I think it's not unreasonable for people to have concerns about Moyes and his preferred style of play and its lack of success in the PL.
Last season was not a pleasant experience for anyone supporting West Ham, I just don't want to go through that again this season.
  • I don’t think it’s an issue of football managers on forums, I think everybody is entitled to an opinion.

But there is a difference between an opinion and an agenda, and not particularly pleasant agendas with some of the language and insults used.

Then when you look at what we have achieved under DM, it’s baffling.

Sadly the atmosphere on this site has somewhat changed over the last period.
There are posters who have one view and others who have an opposite view, neither view should be frowned upon IMO as we are all entitled to our own opinions whether they are right or wrong, is there even such a thing as right or wrong regarding West Ham / football but I have to admit I nowadays rarely post as I know there will be a line of people who don’t agree and become IMO they are right I am wrong and that’s the end of it type of thing, is that perhaps why quite a few regular posters at the moment are staying away?…
Whether some agree or not, like what I’ve said or not, this is the way it’s become on here, and before it’s said, this isn’t directed at anyone in particular or referring to any particular post, rather just the sign of the times, but hey back to the football, COYI today, that’s at the end of the day what we all want isn’t it ⚒️⚒️⚒️⚒️⚒️
  • In my lifetime, Moyes has been the most successful manager at West Ham in terms of cup success and average final League position. It has been fantastic.

However his brand of football is more pragmatic than any other manager.

I would love him to be more adventurous.

Entirely my fault for starting it, but perhaps we should stop the Moyes debate on this thread (and maybe continue it in the "Moyes in or Moyes out" thread if there's more to be said) and try and get this one back to transfer talk.

Apologies for being the start of the derailment, does kinda show how devisive Moyes is though, doesn't it?
  • I think we all know he’s divisive by now, tbh!
  • Just got off for my lunch break, 25 comments since 9am and I ridiculously thought there must have been some transfer news

    Silly me...
  • Try 50 the other day and nothing ,But you have to read them just in case one or two ever makes sense =)

Yeah its got to the point where I feel a bit wary of mentioning I hope Liverpool beat Chelsea ;)

Anyone heard anything about any medicals happening/happened re JWP?
  • Moyes in today's post-match presser says medical is in progress.
  • Kane likely to win his first trophy within a few hours of signing.

Benrahma needs to be upgraded we’ve known this for a while.

And this is why we don't want Traore.
