  • I think Paqueta will stay until next summer but I do think Antonio will leave this window.

Funnily enough, Guardian seem to be reporting that both he and Cresswell could now be on their way to Wolves.
  • Adams 24
    Maatsen 21
    Sangare 25
    Samardzic 21
    Johnson 22
    Palmer 21
    Ekitike 21

to add to the "experience" of Moyes's 3 that seem very close (Maguire 30, JWP nearly 29 and Alvarez 25).
  • Isn’t Adams joining Chelsea?

It seems that deal has hit some trouble, so it's up in the air atm.
Hadn’t seen that. I haven’t seen enough of him to k

Don’t really get what’s going on with Cresswell, but it would make sense for Antonio. Just have this feeling he will be off.

I really think Paqueta goes, if City are seriously interested (and maybe they are a little more so after KDB managed less than half an hour this evening). We might also be scarred by Payet and Arnautovic (how much more could we have got if we'd have sold them at their peak?), but also don't forget that Anderson was valued a lot (£50-60m) after his first season before his form fell off a cliff and we ended up with, what, £3m?
  • Far too much Football Manager going on on here.

We've been bored silly with no football and very little in the way of transfer activity, so it's not really that surprising, is it?
  • Cresswell and Antonio off to Wolves

I hope we’re one of the two unnamed teams!
  • Would be a nice back-up to Bowen.
  • Would be fun
  • Reports CFC are bidding £55 million for Lavia & are still interested in Caicedo which would require over an additional £100m to complete.

    Hypothetical outgoings list:

    Rice - confirmed £105m
    Lanzini - confirmed free
    Vlasic - confirmed £11m
    Scamacca - confirmed £25m
    Downes
    Paqueta
    Cresswell
    Antonio

We thought last summer was a rebuild…

I have wondered if Creswell was upset about being left out of the cup final and basically wants out because of it. The rumours make it sound as though he is determined to leave but previously he was like a model professional.

The two things tonight regard the City match was KDB getting injured but once again Phillips an unused sub. I hope we try and get him as part of the deal if Paquetta goes as if not It will not leave us enough time to spend the money. I also think he could be a great signing.

Possible, added to the way Emerson slowly became first choice towards the end of the season. Cresswell also played well in the semi-final v AZ & maybe felt he deserved a final appearance. But he seemed happy enough at FT.

Baffling why he has not been included in pre-season since the move fell through. After 9 years here I wonder why he felt he could not train when it fell through.

    Quote's from Moyes, apparently:

"If we are left with those four (Antonio, Ings, Mubama and Cornet) it would only be because we don’t see anything else out there. I don’t think there are a bundle of centre forwards out there who would make us that much better."

"If we can't sign a centre-forward then I have Jarrod Bowen in mind. I think he's beginning to look more like a centre-forward"

So we're looking for a striker, or a right winger if Bowen is moved centrally.

    It all feels very 2021.
  • A bit to that point was Moyes saying ‘tomorrow will be a starting point’ in relation to Bowen’s roll as a striker.

Cornet right wing? Or more likely 3-5-2.
  • Bowen & Ings I’d say, Fornals or Benrahma just behind.
  • Please make it stop.🙄
  • Antonio seemed like he wanted to go a while ago. Cresswell obviously only recently. With the former in mind allied to Scamacca detailing he wanted to go back to Italy a while back too.... Isn't it fair to wonder what we've been seeking in terms of forward replacements (instead of shoehorning Bowen in and leaving us Bowenless on the right). Adama been a free agent for a while. Even Lingard has too. We could do worse than them for no fees and I bet Lingard would actually play way better for us than he did for Forest. In short, fed up with outgings and unsettled rumours of potential outgoings with precious little incoming in the offensive area. Gnonto another example of quick, strong and young. Broja should have been chased hard (until he gave in and came to us) Moan sort of over for the timebeing

It's truly amazing if Moyes can't see a CF who would improve on what we've got, is it any wonder people question whether he's the right man to be in charge? He's basically admitting that what we've got isn't good enough if he's including Cornet as a CF and is considering Bowen to play there.

We're going to have to have an exceptional season for me not to be moaning about him every week.

buffy, It feels like Groundhog Day when Moyes comes out with comments like that. 🤷‍♂️ I understand that to mean “I” want a younger version of Antonio and there aren’t many of those around.

There’s something to look forward to then.

People complain that we’ve signed Haller and Scamacca and they’re too different to Antonio, yet Moyes wanting someone who plays like Antonio is a problem somehow?

Not such a surprise, apart from Paqueta, is it? We knew Rice, Lanzini and Vlasic would be off. There's been talk all year that Cresswell wanted to go back up north and Antonio has needed replacing for some time.
  • @alderz, It is a problem if it indicates he really isn’t going to change our style of play. All these experts saying we are going back to being even more a set piece team with a striker living on scraps running a lone furrow up top.

Have the experts been at training?

There isn’t a lot wrong with our style of play. Yes, I’d like more of the ball more regularly, but we play pretty good football & you can find various examples of that from the last 3 years.

Except Cresswell signed a year's extension in May which was a bit strange for someone who wanted to leave
  • My little two penneth regarding Antonio.
Did he say he wanted to leave? I remember him saying in his podcast during the January sales that he may be moved on because “ that’s football, you never know what’ll happen “ or something like that.
Maybe I’m wrong and if so I’ll bow to the knowledge of the experts.

I strongly disagree that we play good football. All i saw last year was a team that cant keep possession and only have any fight when we go a goal down.
