Downes is said to be going to Southampton on loan as part of the JWP deal.

Three weeks ago Saints didn't want Downes and Downes didn't want to go to Saints

According to some reports, a week ago we we had pulled out of the Ward-Prowse deal and a month ago Maguire had no interest in joining us.
  • Yup, don’t believe everything………
    Oh never mind.
  • Speculate on everything. Believe nothing.
  • I like to believe every post I read. It gives me that rush.
  • Ward-Prowse whips one in, & Aguerd/Maguire/Zouma/Ogbonna/Soucek/Antonio heads in (delete as appropriate).
  • Ahhhhhh

Saints new manager Russell Martin signed Downes when he was at Swansea in 2021

Can I hear Reunited by Peaches and Herbs playing in the background?

Wow, rare praise indeed ;) .Thank you. =)
  • Sean Whetstone (@westhamfootball) is claiming JWP and Maguire are both having medicals tomorrow, and Alvarez will be formally announced.

All three to be registered in time for Saturday.
  • I can’t tell if that’s a fact or speculative.

It's a fact that Whetstone is speculating.

    Fab?
  • Wasn’t one of Benrahma’s first goals a header?
  • If Ward-Prowse and Maguire join, I’m going to make an early prediction that both Soucek and Maguire will outscore Danny Ings this season.
  • Being linked with Gnonto after he was left out of Leeds side today. Plays across the front 3 but mainly off the left.

Cos we are so in need of a left sided forward/winger...
  • Well according to GNev he's the next big thing.
  • Seems like JWP really wants to join our little gang ,Not sure what all that wanting to say goodbye to the saints fans was about ,Made up perhaps who knows ,Still great that a player wants to come
  • If he does genuinely want to say goodbye to them I am very cool with that and appreciate him more than I did before reading it.

Gnonto would be a dangerous and young addition :)
  • I'll be gutted if we sell Paqueta. He took a while to settle in but really started to shine towards the ends of the season and boss games. He's one of the few players in the team capable of magic and exciting to watch.

It's not true that he doesn't suit the team. He's strong and a good tackler. He can do most things well and he's finally up to speed.

City just do not need him and we do not need to sell him.

Potentially KDBs long-term replacement. KDB shares similar physical qualities and is happy to do the dirty work, like Paqueta has for us. If Pep wants to rest him, he doesn't have a natural replacement in the squad, so I can see Paqueta getting plenty of minutes and being 7 years younger, could be viewed as KDBs eventual successor.

Thing with City is they can let the smaller clubs like us take the risk on these types of players, knowing that they can pick them off 12 months late if they prove themselves capable in the PL.

The reality is we're a stepping-stone club and always will be unless we get some oil money.
I think Foden if anyone is KDBs most like for like replacement in their squad

Also, very happy to see a few posts that are anti Man City haha
  • Four posts in a row...

I actually believe with some love that Maguire will regain some confidence and do well for us. I just still cant get past the fee.
