I’m going to stick my neck out and say Paqueta won’t leave. City baulked at our Rice asking price, they won’t pay over the odds for players. I think if we stick to our guns they won’t pay the money, and then he can leave next summer if there’s a release clause.
All well and good, assuming he doesn't sulk and down tools. Don't know enough about the guy to know whether he's that type, but there's always that risk, particularly for a player with absolutely no particular affection for the club.
I can see it happening. According to reports we've effectively set our price. Instead of saying 'we're not interested in selling', we seem to have said 'we're not interested in selling for less than £85m'. They're two very different statements.
We'll see. Could obviously go either way, but I'd be surprised if he was still a West Ham player come September.
I used to quite like city but these days I’m sick to death of them behaving like the greedy kid in the sweet shop. I admit to being jealous though.
City play the Premier League the same way I used to play Sensible Soccer as a kid. If a player scored against you or defended well against you, you just bought them, left them on the bench, and then sold them to a foreign club. 15-year-old me is raising his cap to them. Today’s me is raising his middle finger to them.
I used to like Mguire before he went to manu, I go off players like him, Rooney, Ferdinand when go to a bigger club. We should give him a chance and teach how to have a laugh...he is not the worse player we ever signed, who remebers, Peter Eustace, Marco Boogers, Ted MaDougall...
We have to keep him, even if he throws a strop. He's got another 4 years on his contract and a Brazil place to think about, so will have to just get on with it.
He’s a leader, he’s an England international, former Man Utd captain & better than Craig Dawson. I’m sure Moyes will make him captain & get the best out of him.
I had to Google the name, apparently a Turkish journalist who describes himself as "North Star Global Transfer Expert".
Further Googling reveals that North Star Network are a "sports and media gaming network" with something to do with sports betting, based in the suburbs of Lille.
Ekrem Konur isn't listed on their website so don't think he's reliable source
I have never paid too much attention to him but when he has played for England he seems a solid defender both on the ground and in the air and can carry the ball out from the back.
Maguire's performances for England in the Nation's League and World Cup last year were hardly great, he made a number of mistakes that would have seen many managers drop him but Southgate, like Moyes, tends to wear blinkers where some players are concerned. He was even poor in the recent game against Italy, first giving the ball away, then lunging in, missing the ball and thus being out of position for Italy's goal. He's really not great, even for England.
So here in Canada 5 hours behind UK .so as soon as I wake up I go on this site and find all the news I need before I go on BBC or SKY no more then today ,So just wanted to thank all you guys for your input Love you guys and love this site its the best
I hate myself for even entertaining the thought, but I wonder if selling Paqueta now is the right thing to do if he wants to go. With a new agent in his ear who will be desperate to get a big move in beofre the fee cap comes into force, I see Paqueta as more of a Payet than a Rice. We could have got a load more money for Payet in the summer, instead we sold him for much less after things went sour only months later, and Arnautovic was a similar story.
Paqueta is never going to stay longer than next summer anyway, if his head has turned it may be worth offloading him if we can get top dollar for him, and we re-invest in Fofana and Alex Scott.
You wait ages for a transfer then three come along at once!
Until you see them holding the shirt, and all that.
We've already seen from Borges this window that agreeing fees is only half the battle. Need to get the player on board and their signature on a bit of paper before it's done.
As it stands, we're still waiting for our first transfer.

Man Utd paid a world record £80million for him at the time. He has always done well for England.
But he is now 30 with his best years behind him.
However, we absolutely need a replacement for when Zouma is injured.
If we get him, I will of course be backing him to do well for us.

The club transfer strategy is a mess…
Alvarez identified & scouted since April.
Maguire & Ward-Prowse both long term targets of Moyes.
Maybe there is a plan?
Kehrer - Zouma - Maguire - Aguerd
