  • On Paqueta, it was 8 days ago that he responded to a tweet that suggested he wanted to leave with "Fake News". Obviously I can believe that he would be interesting in joining Man City, but he doesn't seem to be agitating for a move, IMO.

  • So it's looking like another transitional season then. Rice, Scamacca, Lanzini, Paqueta and Cresswell all gone or looking likely to leave. At least five new faces coming in to replace them.

Not ideal, but nothing ever is at West Ham.

    We'll always have Prague.
  • Who cares. We had Prague & that will stay with us for forever. Being reported Paqueta has an £85m release clause that activates next summer.

Maguire has a point to prove I guess, let’s hope he can do what Lingard managed to in his loan spell, prove the doubters wrong…
So if he is to be our captain and if we play a back 4 , who’s his regular partner barring injuries, Zouma or Aguerd?…

This is on SSN re Paqueta, if true doesn’t bode well ……
“However, it's understood Paqueta's head has been turned by the interest of the treble winners.”
  • Ward-Prowse deal agreed - Steinberg

    I do. ok
  • Alvarez McTominay

    Bowen JWP Gallagher

Would not be surprised to see this if Paqueta goes.
  • I used to quite like city but these days I’m sick to death of them behaving like the greedy kid in the sweet shop.
I admit to being jealous though.

Rather them than Arsenal coming in for him , would have hated seeing that more than Man City , IMO of course!👍🏻⚒️
  • I'll be gutted if we sell Paqueta. He took a while to settle in but really started to shine towards the ends of the season and boss games. He's one of the few players in the team capable of magic and exciting to watch.

It's not true that he doesn't suit the team. He's strong and a good tackler. He can do most things well and he's finally up to speed.

City just do not need him and we do not need to sell him.
  • Sounds like JWP is on his way... i think id take Fofana over Gallagher if thats the case.

Do you think we'd buy a third midfielder though? Alvarez, JWP and another? With Soucek still around.

It does feel like we need a ball carrying midfielder but don't know where the space is for that.

Potentially KDBs long-term replacement. KDB shares similar physical qualities and is happy to do the dirty work, like Paqueta has for us. If Pep wants to rest him, he doesn't have a natural replacement in the squad, so I can see Paqueta getting plenty of minutes and being 7 years younger, could be viewed as KDBs eventual successor.

Thing with City is they can let the smaller clubs like us take the risk on these types of players, knowing that they can pick them off 12 months late if they prove themselves capable in the PL.

The reality is we're a stepping-stone club and always will be unless we get some oil money.
  • I read we want Ward-Prowse & McTominay.
  • Let’s get Ward-Prowse in before the deadline so he can play Saturday.
  • That’ll just leave a new left back and striker needed I’m guessing unless he’s happy with Antonio, Ings and Mubama ?

We definitely need a third, IMO. Alvarez sitting, JWP knocking the ball around like prime Noble and an energetic ball carrier to get the ball forward on the ground.

McTominay, Fofana and Gallagher are probably best suited to that role. Soucek benched, IMO.

We then need some more pace upfront, either through the middle or wide left.

    And a left back.

A lot to do in 22 days...
  • Alvarez, JWP and Paqueta is potentially a stronger and better balanced midfield than last season, particularly as Paqueta is more settled in now.

Apparently JWP won’t be done yet as he wants to say goodbye to the fans, so may play against Norwich, which I find odd.

I don't see Paqueta as anything like KDB.
  • JWP - nicely negotiated. Made a final offer, walked away, they’ve come back to the table.
  • Where's Alvarez, by the way? Didn't he start his medical yesterday morning?

I dont think we can afford not to. We need a ball carrying midfielder and legs in the middle... especially as counter attacking football is our style. Its no good playing counter attacking football, if we dont have anyone carrying the ball forward. I also agree with OCS that we need more pace upfront. I dont think we're quick enough going forward.
  • Where's Alvarez, by the way? Didn't he start his medical yesterday morning?

    Chatting to Paqueta

His medical is going for a long run to the medical facilities of another PL team.

But in what language ??? Portugese, Spanish or English !!
  • In Mancunian
  • Can't see us agreeing to letting JWP play against Norwich. What if he gets injured?
  • I’m going to stick my neck out and say Paqueta won’t leave. City baulked at our Rice asking price, they won’t pay over the odds for players. I think if we stick to our guns they won’t pay the money, and then he can leave next summer if there’s a release clause.
