    I have a transfer window conspiracy theory that I’ve literally just thought of, have no evidence for, and haven’t thought through properly yet.

    Carlos Borges never really felt like the sort of signing we would make, but feels INCREDIBLY Ajax. What if, we only went for Borges to block Ajax, and then agreed to step aside in exchange for them making us priority bidder for Edson Alvarez? What if this was some kind of galaxy brain strategy all along…

    So the club that knows it's star player and midfield lynchpin is going to leave for at least a year but is unable to sign a timely replacement manages to up with something as complicated as that 🤔🤔🤔? Don't see it myself, but each to his own.

    Way too late to edit, so all I can do is apologise for "it's" instead of "its". Believe me, I'm holding my head in shame as I type 😭😭😭.

    Very unlikely, apart from the fact he would barely have joined up with the squad by then, he's probably only just started his pre-season given he was still playing internationals for Mexico until 17th July.

    Although it's unlikely he will play Antonio played in the Semi Final of the Gold Cup & was back on the pitch again on Saturday? Are we saying he would still not have been available for the Bournemouth game if we had signed him a few weeks back?

    Jacob Steinberg at The Guardian has linked us with Broja who hasn't played in any of Chelsea's friendlies.

    Nicolas Jackson (£32m Villareal) and Christopher Nkunku (£52m RB Leipzig) have been shariing the centre forward role with U21 Mason Burstow even given a go

    I predict a loan deal with option to buy

    So he's pretty fit anyway? Just because they're on holiday doesn't mean they go to waset, unlike myself. They still carry out a fitness regime and are given target weight etc. for their return.

    But I agree he won't play.

    Ajax last game of the season was 28 May, Mexico's first game was 26 June and he started 5 out of 6 games

    He might need a rest

    I meant in the sense that it was quite a long injury so hopefully he's the same player he was before. But that's not something you can tell until he starts playing again.

    He was one of the few players who made Dawson look utterly out of place on a few occasions and I think he'd suit Moyes so well.

    I think he’d struggle to get in the side after Saturday’s performance tbh.

    The worry is whether he's still got the same turn of pace, but in that season with Southampton he was the closest thing to Antonio I've seen.
