New depths of embarrassment reached, it would seem:
So, I'd never heard of this before.
It's been around since 2017. According to this link (sorry, it's the daily mail) From relatively lowly beginnings, it seems to have taken of in recent years:
19 PL clubs are involved over 3000 transfers done through it half of Bundesliga clubs are in PSG third of Serie A
I'm curious to see if it's a way of also reducing agents' influence/fees. I'll read a bit more...
Edit https://www.transferroom.com/ If their graphic at the bottom is real, it shows (when i was looking at it) Man City and Brighton both currently active on it. Can't see anything about us :-)
Find it hard to believe that this is not fake. Never at any point has Moyes or anybody else say we are looking for seven players. 3 or 4 at the most has been mentioned.
According to the full Athletic article, it’s widely used, but “rare” for a Premier League team to post positions they’re interested in. It does seem weird, but the only thing that makes it seem weird to me is because I had no idea something like this existed.
Glad you could see the full article (subscription only). At first I wondered if it was a mixture of 1st team, women's and U21. But seems not, based on what you said.
This is a post made by a journalist - Via Twitter, Nursery wrote, “I’ve also heard big problems between Moyes & technical director Tim Steidten. TS recommended players like Edson Alvarez, Elye Wahi, P Schuss (Schuurs!), F Torres, Kerkez, Amrabat, Etiteke, B Meijer, M Leonardo, N Jackson, D Rensche, Gnonto, Beto, C Alcatraz, & A Veliz but DM not keen many & wants full control.”
Some these players have already been signed by other EPL teams, others are due to sign shortly.
Also Moyes seems to want to watch a player about 50 times before making a decision on whether he wants to buy him or not. No wonder our transfer business seems to take an age hahaha

What's your view of these players?
And, if that IS Steiden's list, what's your view of him? My first thought is... does he know about the home grown rule? Does he know Torres has a 1bn euro buyout clause?
Mrs G, Yes he will know about the homegrown rules from his time in 🇩🇪 👍. It’s a list to work through several from what I know and have seen are better than some of David Moyes targets or our existing players.
I assume (outside of Sullivans final say so) there's a heirarchy in terms of recruitment?
"Technical Director. Steidten will be responsible for the Club's overarching player recruitment strategy and scouting department"
If this Tim guy is in charge of the above then I'd say he outranks Moyes who is basically manager of the team (and therefore manages the team plus not much else). I understand that Moyes would have a voice in terms of liking a player or not but I am right in saying it not his job to scout and recruit? If we brought Tim in to be in charge of the scouting and recruitment strategy surely thats his area of expertise and he would have had eyes on players prior to joining West Ham.
I hope that the above couple of posts re Fofana and Alvarez are accurate....
Can’t be as simple as that. You can’t have someone in charge of recruitment who then says to the manager “I’ve bought you these so get on with it”. The manager/coach must have a say.

I think that’s pretty common for a lot of clubs. The issue here is that Moyes wasn’t brought in under those terms.
With Steidten you'll need to have a head coach working with the players he's given whereas Moyes is an old school manager who is used to being involved in recruitment, or, in his case, apparently has final say in recruitment if we're to believe what we've been told in the past.

This is ridiculous as it seems both can veto each other over players. Isn't it time for David Sulliven to step up and sort it out.
One of the rumours is Tim Steidten was brought in to report directly to David Sullivan but David Moyes got his contract out & said that isn't going to happen so to appease him it was agreed they would be on an equal level. It is also reported that low ball offers are going in for our managers targets to wind up him in the hope he walks?
As you all know I take all this stuff with a huge packet of Saxa, but IF these tales of some sort of rutting to be top dog have got any semblance of truth in them, what the hell were the club thinking in appointing this new bloke? They must’ve known it would cause tensions, and where does any of this leave Noble? IF any of it is true you’ve got to wonder about Sullivan’s decision making.

He was found guilty first time round. They can't find him more guilty on appeal.

So not really that embarrassing, after all.

Also, Scamacca is said to be flying to Italy tomorrow morning to seal his move to Atalanta.
