  • This is bonkers if true.
  • It could be Sullivan trying to get Moyes to walk instead of having to sack him and pay him off. 🤷‍♂️
  • Edson Alvarez now appease close, according to Steinberg.

Ajax fans opinion seems to be he’s very good at getting the ball, just pretty bad in possession of it.

So an orthodox DM. He gets the ball and gives it to Paqueta and whoever the second new midfielder is (Fofana, JWP, Sangare) to carry it forward. Happy with that.

And he's also a decent CB from what I've read, so another option there if needed.

Maybe, but if true it’s a pretty dangerous way of going about it.
  • Scamacca to Atalanta all but done.

I'm glad the club are finally investing in a proper recruitment set up. We waited 18 months to find the right player to replace Haller, and ended up signing another Haller who we're binning off twelve months later. Doesn't feel like we did our homework at all on Scamacca.
  • @OCS, It appears lightening can strike twice!!!!
  • @OCS, It appears lightening can strike twice!!!!

And, if it goes through as expected, it's another player sold without a replacement ready to come in (unless there's something happening completely under the radar).

Antonio, Ings and Mubama starting the season it would seem.
  • Don't worry OCS we can get Hugo Ekitike from PSG on loan?

We need eight homegrown players in our 25 player squad, any ideas who they may be?
  • We don't necessarily need eight homegrown players. We could in theory go with just 17 non-homegrown players and U21s making up the numbers.

Assuming Cresswell goes, we have Johnson, Antonio, Downes, Ings, Bowen and Coventry that would count as HG. Mubama won't need to be registered.
  • Isn't it actually not a set number we ' need' but a maximum number of non-hg that can be registered in your 25? So if you don't have HG to make up the numbers, you effectively have 'empty' squad places.

( Does that make sense? Not had ☕ yet)
  • So we seemed to want Palhinha or Alvarez as our midfielder who deals with the defensive side of the game in the CM position. Palhinha was too much at £45m rejected & has now picked up an injury. Alvarez it is.

So then it seems to be one of Forfana, Ward-Prowse or McTominay for the more box-to-box midfield position. Plus we want Harry Maguire still.

How do you qualify as a homegrown?
To qualify as homegrown, a player must have been registered to an English or Welsh club for a period of three seasons (or years) before his 21st birthday, with a maximum of 17 non-homegrown players permitted in the Premier League.

So it begs the question, well I would like to ask =), how many spaces have we realistically got in our 25 if we don't buy any HG players this window?
  • Scamacca off to Atalanta for an initial £21.5m.
  • @Lukerz, The "reported" fee mentioned by one of the blokes last night on one of the West Ham chat shows on You Tube for the Manchester United duo was £90 million, IF true way too high for us me thinks.
  • This is a very disheartening thread. We should be elated still that we won trophy, and should be looking forwardto the new seaswon, but no we are awash with rumours and discord. There seems to be a lot of discontent wafting around. N wonder Rice wanted to leave. Letting him go was a huge mistake, especiially to a rival. I have heard that sweveral players are unhappy and want ro go, Antonio, Scamacca, Paqueta, Souchek Johnson are saome of those bandied about. Of all the names rumoured to be looked at by whoever is holding the purse strngs, I have only heard of 4 of them, McGuire (Useless), Gallagher, Ward-prowse and McTomminay. And who is to our captain?? So all this rumour and speculation is making me think we will be fighting relegation again!
  • It’s sad that Scamacca has gone as he was a class striker and I hope we are not left with Antonio being our main striker as Scamacca was a hundred times better as a footballer.
He had a long injury which hampered him but I can’t help feeling that he started to look to go when he got kind of bad mouthed by Antonio.
Getting rid of our better footballers like him could end up with others like Pacqueta feeling he’s wasting his time with us.

I’ve seen nothing from Scamacca to suggest he will be a loss to us. I hear lots tell us of his potential & he is class, haven’t seen much from him to back it up. Good luck to him, never really got going here.

Looks like Antonio won’t be far behind. Leaving us with Mubama, Ings, Cornet, so we probably need another striker.
  • @Ironduke, There are some fans who would have preferred us not to have won the Europa Conference League as it would have probably resulted in a change of manager. We should be still be elated over our success but instead it has turned into a summer of discontent.

Vety dsappoited about Scamaca. He seemed to be carrying, or have an injury most of last year. We'll probably never know if we wanted rid, or he wamted out, or both! IMO he wasn't, or didn't give it a chance?
Antonio was played at fullback and converted. Perhaps Moyes has similar plans for Maguire? 🤪😭
  • Judging by his comments over the last few weeks, he wanted out.

Are there? Who are these fans? That there are West Ham fans out there who'd rather we hadn't won our first trophy in 43 years is absolutely baffling.

What is the point of supporting West Ham, or any club, if not to win something?
  • Scamacca is just another failure in the clubs long list of strikers. That one is on Moyes.
  • What annoys me is everyone questioned whether he was the profile of striker we needed - he seemed like Haller and didn’t fit the descriptions Moyes had given for a target - and now we’re selling him at a loss. Why sell him at all? He’s not even going back to Roma, his boyhood club, which was what I thought he wanted.
  • if Scamacca is off to Italy I really hope we have another striker already lined up, I mean any proper run football club would, wouldn't they ???

Or is Moyes prepared to go along with Antonio and Ings who are one sprint or one whack to the knee out for weeks or a very young, raw, unproven youngster....( Divin has impressed so far, but it possibly would be a step too far to play all the time if the other 2 got injured, which isn't out of the possibilities )....

Oh well, I guess the club do know what they are doing..so COYI......
  • Latest rumour: Dominic Solanke
  • Jorderz, I’ll try to get their name’s & addresses so you ask them. 🤷‍♂️

I’m not sure. I think he was looking good until Paqueta’s injury and then things stuttered, and then he got injured. To me it seems like he wants out because it didn’t go as he imagined it, which is sort of fine, but also I wish he had the stomach to stick it out and prove himself to be the player he thinks he is.
  • I think Moyes made a mistake playing Downes as the advanced midfielder when Paqueta got injured. I think it disrupted the flow Scamacca was in and Benrahma or Fornals should’ve gone there. We were really bad in that period.

But not sure anything else about Scamacca is the fault of Moyes. He gave him chances when he was actually available.
  • Don't worry OCS we can get Hugo Ekitike from PSG on loan?

I think this might be a possibility, a loan with an option like we did with Areola initially. PSG are a club that seem happy to do business with us without asking for ridiculous amounts of money (we got Kehrer from them as well), and we were linked with Ekitike last summer before he moved to PSG on loan with an obligation.

The obligation was triggered so PSG bought him, but I'm not sure he really figures in their plans; he didn't have the best of seasons, but PSG's front line is tough to get in to. They also play with a lot of possession, whereas the previous season Ekitike did well in a Reims team that play with a low block and little possession, sound familiar?
