  • Frattesi’s closest friend in football Scamacca, who already played with him in Lazio and Roma‘s youth sectors, has been linked with leaving West Ham this summer and Frattesi confirmed he may be on his way out of the Hammers.

“I know the situation and I preferred not to be among the people asking him where he would go,” he said.

“Of course, I’d be glad if we end up playing together.”
  • Nothing against Ex, but is that not obvious? It's the very basis of any negotiation for a buying club.

Feels like we're waiting and hoping that Man U - and Southampton with Ward-Prowse - blink first and drop their prices, but that could take another three or four weeks.
  • Chelsea fans seem to think Sterling, Gallagher and Cucurella might be at risk. I can see Moyes being interested in all three, to be honest.

Sterling must be on mega wages, can't see us matching that

    I think we'd go for a loan.
  • Why are we being linked to players I don't want ,Sterling ,Mctominay Maguire etc

It's not really doom & gloom on here it's only how people perceive it to be! They are entitled to feel there is no call for concern but there are those of us who are concerned about David Moyes and his apparent inflexibility when it comes to who we should buy. I do feel all is not well atm.
  • I can see alot more faffing about with trying to buy players who don't seem interested in joining before we sign anybody.
  • Suggestions that the interest in Alvarez may be waining:

"First, the Borussia Dortmund negotiation for Edson Álvarez fell through.
Now it also falls in the interest of West Ham United.
I understand that "there are many interested parties", but a formal offer for the Machín has not arrived."
  • Could still get Dawson back ,perhaps he has had enough of family up north =)

Unlikely now Coady and Collins have left. Killman, Toti and Dawson are the only out-and-out CBs Wolves have left

Clubs have agreed a ttansfet fee and wages but have rejected his demands for pre-match ritual goat sacrifice?

    You say inflexibility

I say clear idea of who he thinks will fit into his team and who won't

He's not going to buy anyone just for the sake of buying someone.

  • Isnt adama traore still free? I dont trust moyes with actual strikers but i do trust him converted wingers in to strikers lol
  • ASLEF, That is one of a few problems I have with David Moyes. He is hopefully only buying players for this season so that is why it would have been ideal for him to have gone at the end of last season. Won a cup, Captain leaving, new DoF coming in with lots of ideas for players he just won’t entertain as he wants the likes of Maguire, McTominay etc for large fees when some of the Rice money could be spent on attracting younger players from across the globe. I ask the question why can other teams find bargains with big sell on fees and we can’t? Is it the poor scouting or a manager who doesn’t want them? His default is players with EPL experience other teams find players from elsewhere and if we do actually shop outside England he doesn’t play them as quickly as others. He keeps picking Soucek why?
  • Cresswell move to Wolves is off, according to Sky.

Yeah you’re right. It’s like Glee Club on here isn’t it?
  • Antonio to SA also off, apparently.

Was hoping for a good £15m for those two.

Ah well, hopefully Antonio won't bad mouth his colleagues and manager in an interview this season.
  • OCS, Yes I saw that with all the money being thrown around by the clubs in SA and they wanted him on a free! 😄
    Wolves can’t raise £5million, that is worrying.😬

Lesson wasn't learnt IMO because he signed Vlasic. He clearly didn't fit in the team, and was nothing like value for money.

You could argue Scamacca, too. Doesn’t really fit in the team and is, according to some, agitating for a move elsewhere after a season, so I'm not sure how much research was done into his character.

Downes, too, actually. He feels like the epitome of signing someone for the sake of it. I think we did it just to stop Palace from signing him.
  • I don't want a bunch of change this season, so happy for Antonio and Cresswell to stay. I was worried last year that we were signing too many players and I think that's what happened.

We need two midfielders to replace Rice (which Moyes has acknowledged), and I think we need a player with a bit more pace in attack (Borges looks that), but beyond that I wouldn't want to see more than one or two players.

We desperately need another CB as well imo, and don't forget that if neither Antonio nor Cresswell go this summer, they'll need replacing along with Ogbonna and Fabianski next summer before we even start. Personally I'll be very happy to get rid of both Antonio and Cresswell if we can get any reasonable fee for them.

  • Not to bothered if Antonio goes ,But would like cressie to stay good guy to have around the squad already lost Noble and Rice ,Feel like we need a couple of old heads just to keep things calm
  • Fabianski
    Zouma - Maguire - Aguerd
    Coufal - Ward-Prowse - McTominay - Emerson
    Bowen - Scamacca - Benrahma

We don’t think that’s a good enough side?
  • That's fine. Replace them next summer imo. Or even in January.

We've got Zouma, Aguerd, Ogbonna and Kehrer who can play at CB. Johnson was good there in the first few games of the season.

But all this talk of Antonio, Cresswell, Johnson, Scamacca possibly out of the door? That's too much for me. I think we have 3 crucial signings to make, we can't then go and make four more to replace these guys and then a CB as well. We'll have the same problem as last season.

I think it's clear we want a DM and CM and that we've been looking for a pacy attacker like Barnes or Borges. Then, possibly, we can upgrade a couple of positions like CB or full back. But trying to bring in loads just never works.

I actually think that would be awful - because of the three signings.

Slacker, of course no one is forcing your arm to read all this, unless one of the mod’s have nothing better to do, just saying 👍🏻

Maguire and Ward-Prowse would be horrendous, especially if we actually buy or are obligated to buy Maguire.
  • So is there anybody worth signing?
  • edited July 2023
Yes. But if you ask about those three in a line up together, I think it would make us slower, more ponderous, defensively much weaker in the midfield and less able to launch the counter-attacks we're most effective with. If you were to add one of those players in, then I think it might improve us but not all three. Even Paqueta is dropped from the team.

I would rather we started our current team. I'd be happier with a midfield three of Downes, Soucek and Paqueta personally.
  • @Lukerz, Yes there certainly are. We just need to refer to Tim Steidten’s list. 😉
