  • Recently I've gotten into Sofascore as a website, and this is McNeil's profile page.

    https://www.sofascore.com/player/dwight-mcneil/935543

You can see from the heatmaps that he is a traditional winger, he doesn't really move away from the wings, which could really help us with width down the left. He's also got a strength listed as "high pressing"
  • Having read that article and learning he was "only" on £75k/week, I'm inclined to want us to move on if he expects anything more than £90k/week.
Lots of valid points raised in the article and comments that suggest he/his agent's valuation is way off the mark.
It might do him a favour if someone posted the link to him. =)
  • SSN reporting that it looks like Forest are in pole position.

For £180k a week they can have him
  • If some of us are getting fed up with Lingard - it's possible he might be alienating our existing players who may be less keen on welcoming him back into the dressing room.
  • WHU I agree with you. If they’re stupid enough to give him that high a wage they’re welcome to him.
  • I read that most players at Forest are on 35k or less can't see them being too happy if Lingard comes in on 180K
  • There are also reports saying that his agents want a high fee too. I'd still be happy if he signed, but it would feel a little like he's been dragged here kicking and screaming.
  • His latest story on his Insta account suggests he's going to make an announcement soon.

Elsewhere, West Ham Twitter has just posted and deleted a picture of Rice.

I still can't shake the feeling that he'll end up here.
  • It a simple fact of life. If you want to improve you need better players and they come at a cost. He may well keep Forest up and therefore pay for himself in one season. Same as he could help us into the Europa and again his cost would be covered. I don't see that every other player will want a rise. When you see the salaries of the top six clubs and see the differences in pay, where a number of 'stars' are getting a lot less than other inferior players, then the argument doesn't, imo, hold up.
  • Middle of July now and we are well into pre-season and the striker situation has not been sorted. We need to get the bodies in before the first game. This is starting to turn into a bit of a Panic similar to last season. It really is becoming unacceptable from the management that we are this far down the line and nothing concrete on the striker front with over 18 months to find and bring in someone.
  • 18 months is not quite right though. For much of that time the window is shut and players can be forbidden or can be unwilling to negotiate.
  • My mate who I work with, who knows Lingard, reckons he's coming to us.

My next door neighbours cousin says he isn’t.

They would be if he helps keep them up.

Blimey, panicking with six weeks left in the window?
That’s a new level of negativity, even for on here.

Stockholm syndrome, its what supporting the club can do to you

I s’pose so mate, but I’ve been through so many ups and ( mostly) downs with this club for donkey’s years that I think I might have become immune to said syndrome.
I’m too old to feel negativity , far better to be a bit more positive.
    S’only football innit?

    why not both
  • Time for…

    🤔

    Well my mate’s mate who’s a mate of Preston’s mate’s mate reckons it’s solid.
At least that’s what his dad said.
  • I think there are more twists in this story, which sits nicely with JLingz enterprises. He’s making this a blockbuster movie.

Can see West Ham not budging on wages but offering a better signing package.
  • Hope we stick to our guns and say the last offer is the last one

Feel like lingard is just trying to squeeze a (unrealistic) massive wage from us

Let him battle relegation and get lots of money, Forest only have themselves to blame....even funnier when they can't sell him once they go down and Jesse won't accept a pay decrease
  • Lingard had his purple patch. Move on.
  • We should get a percentage if he signs elsewhere as without his purple patch with us people would be bidding on a United squad member with, and they don't get 200k per week.
  • It's not £200k a week wages is it?
  • Nottingham Forest have offered free agent Jesse Lingard a contract worth £200,000 a week as they look to beat West Ham to the signature of the 29-year-old England attacker. (Mail).......
I know, the Mail! I don't care if he is free
No way is he worth anywhere near that IMO.
  • Sky reckons we're in competition with Palace for Dwight McNeil, 2 years left on his contract so Burnley would want £15m plus

Only 22 (23 in November) and undoubtedly on a much lower salary than Lingard

Knowing Moyes he'll try to get a "Dawson"
