  • waiting for the window to shut with the 'we put a club record bid in' statement as we don't get it over the line, I'm an optimist clearly

  • Not sure if this'll come up but it made me smile (Raheem Sterlings 'medical' at Chelsea)

  • Is it me or is he Eddie Murphys son??

Dembele signs a new contract (second most protracted gossip story ever behind the De Jong to United one which legally has to be mentioned on a daily basis in gossip columns)
  • Diaz from Blackburn would suit me.
  • If, as it's rumoured to be, it's either Broja or Scamacca for our second striker, then we're likely to have to wait for them. I can't see a deal for either being concluded quickly, so I'd like to see a new RW in soon.

The reason being that if Antonio gets injured, Bowen will likely play through the middle, and with Yarmolenko gone, we have no cover wide right.

I can accept waiting another few weeks for a striker if it's 100% the player that Moyes wants, but I do think we need to make sure we have adequate cover in other positions in the meantime.
  • How about buying Scamacca and loaning Broja with an option to buy. With those two and Mikey .......................

That has been suggested recently elsewhere, and I'd be delighted with it.

Keeping those three happy would be a big challenge for Moyes though. Unless he's planning to play two up front.

But I can't see it happening. I think it's either or, and personally I'm still not convinced by the Scamacca stories so I think it's Broja at £30m or we'll end up with someone like Dennis if Chelsea don't play ball.
  • I think that I would prefer Broja of the two, but we need to see what happens.

Although with possibly up to 60 games next season with decent cup and euro runs, keeping all three active shouldn't be too much hassle, especially playing Mikey either side of a striker.

The only issue with that, and I think it was mentioned on here the other day, is that Antonio doesn't have the stamina to be an effective winger in a Moyes team (IMO).

He's best in bursts, and that works ok when he's playing up front, but Moyes expects his wingers to do their share of tracking back (Bowen does this brilliantly), and I just don't think Antonio has the game for this role anymore. I can see burn out and injuries being more commonplace if he were to play out wide.

Not sure whether this becomes a factor. Broja pictured in a protective boot. Are these routinely used for minor injuries?

  • Perfect, get the Cheque book out.
  • Hahaha Hahaha
  • And, according to Italian press, Juventus are in for Scamacca, who has a preference to stay in Italy.

Good morning so far in our striker search.
  • Ornstein reporting that Lingard will make his decision next week. Wants to training at his new club by 22nd July.

MLS supposedly out of the equation, but he is considering a £10m per season deal in Saudi Arabia, along with three PL offers.

If the guy is even considering playing in SA, his primary motivation is clear.
  • His primary motivation is doing what he wants to do. No problem with that.
  • Why aren't we all over Zinchenko?

I have no problem with him going there. His life, his choices.

My concern is that he's considering SA at all. Money is evidently at the forefront of his mind which makes doubt how committed he'd be to our cause if he did decide to join us.
  • Dennis / Cornet / (A first choice LB)

    Job Done.
  • I got excited until I saw the source was The Scottish Daily Mail 😄
  • "Lingard’s preference is to stay in the Premier League"

From the Athletic article that says Saudi is a possibility. The Athletic was also the source of the claim he was considering going to the MLS and that he might join Rooney in DC but now they say that's off.

Give 'em a few days and they'll announce he's turned down Saudi but is thinking about China...

Is the Saudi 'interest' just a ploy to drive up the PL offers? 'Give me £150k p/w or I'll go to Al-Whoever for the next three years'.

Can't wait 'til he's signed somewhere.

But is £150k a week excessive? That's £85k a week plus a £10m signing on fee spread over a 3 (?) year contract. We'd have paid £10m in January imo.
  • I find it hard to get excited/deflated during the transfer window. Interested yes, but just basing everything on spurious links and clickbait rumours doesn’t do it for me. It doesn’t run my life.Still, each to their own I s’pose.

For a player that has had limited game time over the last couple of seasons, and is quite possibly past his peak, then I think £150k p/w is a lot.

But ultimately it's not my money or my decision. As long as it doesn't create problems within the squad then it's of no real consequence to any of us.

Just want it done one way or another. If he chooses us I'd be happy. If he doesn't, equally so.
  • Alese has signed for Sunderland on a permanent. What on earth?

So it appears, I thought he looked good, another player short in the potential squad

That is completely out of the blue. And a surprise. New CB inbound I wonder 🤔
