Yeah even Ex picked up on it last night and said it was a nothing headline.
  • I think everyone expects him to go next year so not really a scoop.
  • Tbf last summer I thought that he'd be gone in this window

To get another year is brilliant news
  • The Sun says that Rice has a "gentleman's agreement" to stay another year

Dig a bit deeper and its from comments Alex Crook (???) made on talkSPORT's White and Jordan show

“I think Declan Rice will give West Ham one more year"

"I think there’s almost a gentleman agreement that he will do that"

"I expect him to leave next summer"

And that is how one man's opinion becomes a headline in a national newspaper

Talksport do this loads. Someone irrelevant on their show gives an opinion and they write up a headline making it look like fact and it gets traction.
  • Annoyingly, these fools actually get paid for spouting this tripe.

    My contribution:

I expect Ronaldo to leave this transfer window. There's almost a 50/50 chances there's no gentlemans agreement. I think the lad wants champions league football. He's been there before, done it and needs to do it again (sighhhhhh)

Talksport is such a low rent station, they get some 2 Bob ex player to say something “controversial “ and then the mugs who listen to it call up to have a pop at £2 a minute.

Calls to Talksport are now free of charge. It’s an 03 number

Damn facts getting in the way of a good old whinge.
  • Don't worry Slacker, facts never got in the way of one of their stories!
  • Free of charge is still too much for Talksport IMO
  • Fulham still in talks for Diop
West Ham defender Issa Diop is expected to feature in a pre-season game tonight, despite Fulham remaining in talks for his signature.
There is still a gap in valuation between West Ham and Fulham.
Diop’s game time at West Ham could be limited next season following the arrival of Nayef Aguerd and the return to fitness of Angelo Ogbonna.
  • West Ham continue talks for Broja
West Ham are continuing talks with Chelsea over the signing of striker Armando Broja.
Broja is not currently with Chelsea squad in the United States.
West Ham’s preference is a permanent deal.
We are told he’s not the only high profile striker the Hammers are looking at.
  • More from West Ham...
West Ham remain in the market for a left-back and a central midfielder.
David Moyes' side have had two bids rejected by Lille for midfielder Amadou Onana.
The Hammers are deciding whether to go in with an improved offer or move on to other targets
  • Cullen has signed for Burnley for around £3m. We get a £500,000 sell on fee.
  • Suspicious of a rumour involving the word scam in it.

Can't say I know anything about him...but you check his size, strengths weaknesses on whoscored and articles about him...he sounds eerily similar to how Haller sounded when we got him

As I said, never seen him play...but it's interesting he's the profile of forward we are targeting

Broja isn't small but he's got a the turn of pace like Antonio io that this guy (and Haller) don't seem to have
  • I’ve seen him play for Italy a couple of times and he looked more mobile than Haller, but he’s definitely a similar style player as a target man with his back to goal. He seems pretty different to Broja to me. Broja reminds me of Antonio

Linked again this morning to Hoffenheim LB David Raum (by Jacob Steinberg)

I think we need a LB as much as we need a striker. Just watched the goals from the Ipswich game (link below) and theirs came as a result of poor defending by Cresswell.

Yes it's pre-season, but he remains a big weakness in our defence.

Broja feels like more of a fit for us. However, Ornstein is reporting that there's been little progress over a deal and Broja will meet up with the Chelsea squad in the US.

Maybe that's why we're looking at Scamacca; either Chelsea are playing hard-ball or asking for a buy-back clause making the deal too difficult, or it's just a ploy by us to try to speed them up.

I'd be disappointed in this one drags on all summer.
  • Rooney announced as DC United manager. I wonder if Lingard is still out there 🤔

He just can't jump can he, he's get beat in the air every time.

Same old, same old, Cresswell beaten in the air for a goal (and another opportunity) and Micky messing up a one-on-one ... but it is early pre-season ...
  • Raum is an elite attacking full back, but defensively he's reported to be quite suspect (although he's quick so can recover well)

Apparantly he's valued at €35mil, that's a lot for a full back especially one who may....and I say may as I can only go off what I've heard as I haven't seen him play.....be suspect defensively

5ft11, quick, wicked left foot, lots of assits/chances created and 24 years old....sounds good on paper
  • Raum would be an absolute quality addition. If we dropped 25m on him and signed Dennis / Cornet for 40m that would do me.
  • A report in Italy say bid accepted for sammacca believe it when I see him in the shirt. Watched his goals from last season only 1 header , a few goals from outside the box, he got the ball with his back to goal a lot in the clips seemed to have good technique liked to nutmeg players.

I'm not sure I believe the Scamacca news. I can only see it being true if Chelsea have given us a hard no on Broja.

But if PSG are interested, and I've read that the player wants CL football, then I can see him holding out for them or another top club, even if our bid is accepted. If the news that Broja is now in the US is true, then we're not close with that deal either.

I have a horrible feeling that our search for a striker is going to drag on well into next month.

If he's off to the US to join up with Chelsea then as much as I hate to say it we must turn our attention to someone else. I know it was only a friendly and I do like him but seeing Antonio yesterday gave me some serious flash backs of when he's off his shooting game.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I get that pre-season can be used as an excuse, but what we saw from Antonio in front of goal last night, and of Cresswell's defending, have been happening for the last couple of seasons.

We have a very busy August (five league games and two ECL qualifiers), so I'd really want serious competition for those two in before the season kicks off.
  • Also I've said it before but I prefer Antonio as a wide player. He's has the ability to dig out a decent cross like last night.
