So, looking at our squad depth, we need a minimum of another 3 signings (CM, ST & a player who can play in one of the ‘three behind the striker’ positions).

    GK: Fabianski/Areola
    RB: Coufal/Johnson
    CB: Zouma/Dawson
    CB: Ogbonna/Aguerd
    LB: Cresswell/Masuaku
    CM: Rice/Downes
    CM: Souček/…
    RW: Bowen/…
    AM: Lanzini/Vlasic
    LW: Fornals/Benrahma
    ST: Antonio/…

I am sure Moyes would also like to trade Masuaku & Vlašić for better options if we could manage to sell them. Diop looks like he’ll be surplus.
  • I don’t know if selling Diop in this window would be great idea really.Maybe just wait and see how Ogbonna is after his bad injury.
Then again I suppose wages and other elements come into play.
  • I think we sell Diop for good money. I’m sure the club will be happy to keep him for another year, but there seems to be interest. I think we just let the offer dictate whether he stays or goes.
  • There is a good player inside young Issa, we just need to tempt it out.
  • I agree with Slacker, but if it’s true that Fulham will pay £20m then I think we have to take it and promote Alese to be the fifth choice / fourth if Oggy doesn’t properly make it back
  • Diop has been here 4 years, long enough for him to have made a spot in the first team for himself and long enough for us to know what we get from him

But he's found himself 4th choice, and yet we somehow may make the £20mil back on him

We aren't the best at selling players for good money, but we get £20mil that's an unreal deal

We don't need a £20mil asset as 3rd reserve especially when there are more pressing concerns in the squad

Google reporting: The Irons have been linked with the Denmark international full back Joakim Maehle and as per the latest report, the London-based club are willing to offer £13million to sign the player in the ongoing transfer window...

More likely to go to Denmark (London) aka Brentford than West Ham (London). They nearly have enough Danish players to put out a full team of them. ;)

  • Personally, I think we’d be lucky to get £20m. But I can see a package that totals that, even if he ends up going for about £14m.
  • Personally wouldnt sell him for anything less than we got him for 20m.
  • So if people could have any 4 (individually realistic if not collectively) signings, who would they get? I think mine would be:
    Tagliafico
    Gallagher
    Cornet
    Broja
  • As long as we get Broja I'd be happy. Obviously need a few more but he's the main one for me.
  • Broja and a decent LB

First team LB, CDM, AM and striker would do just nicely. If Vlasic stays then less need for AM.
Looks like Ashby could be Fredericks replacement and Alese for Diop if he goes.
Masuaku just not good enough for LB.
CDM would allow some rotation and also more opportunity for Rice/Soucek to get forward.
Striker just needed, say no more.
  • You guys are bad at my game.
  • Broja not gone on Chelsea's US tour according to Jacob Steinberg, but he may join up later in the week. Whether that means they're leaving him behind on the understanding that a deal may be brokered, I obviously don't know, but can't see too many other reasons why he'd stay behind.
  • Taken from my wish list posted on May 25 -

    LB - Bassey
    CDM - Bellegarde
    MID - Vanaken
    CF - David

Need to be after some quality otherwise the Top six will just pull even further away.
  • Last season Yarmolenko and Vlasic had a combined total of seven starts plus 31 substitute appearances in the Premier League

If Vlasic is still here and we can get Broja or someone else as back up for Antonio do we need another AM?
  • I'd be very happy with LB cover and a striker. Anything else is a bonus for me

I agree with Yoyo that CF and LB are priorities, but I also think that the fact Vlasic and Yarmolenko had that many appearances doesn’t mean that we don’t need another AM, it means they weren’t good enough to replace the front line. Even when Fornals Lanzini and Benrahma were our first form they had to play as the backups were no good
  • Think we'll end up loaning Vlasic out, so we'll need competition for Bowen and Benrahma out wide.
  • If we get Broja Antonio is an option out wide. I actually prefer him there.

Buy two strikers then Antonio becomes competition for Bowen.

Yeah, I was thinking about this yesterday. Would make sense.

I actually think someone like Sarr or Dennis would be ideal; both capable of playing out wide and through the middle.

So far the only rumour about Vlasic was three weeks ago from La Stampa and others claiming that Torino were interested but needed us to contribute to his wages

I'm sure S&G would be happy to see him go out on loan but maybe not so happy to have to pay for it
  • OCS, I’m not sure Vlasic was ever competition for Bowen and Benrahma out wide. He is best as a no10, but we never played him there. So as a wideman he may already need replaced.

On the rare occasion Moyes played him, it was out wide. I agree (as does Vlasic himself) that he's a No10, but Moyes played him on the wing so if he goes, he'll need replacing in the squad with a winger.

There's a good player in there, but I'm not convinced he's a PL player.
  • But if Moyes never plays him in his best position, how will we ever know?
  • Do we need to know?

    As long as Moyes does.
  • MrsG, Yes. 😁
  • If Mrs G doesn't need to know, that's good enough for me =)
