January transfer window 2019/20 season

Confirmed that Samuelson has joined Hull City for an undisclosed fee.

Hopefully this is the first stage of us signing Jarrod Bowen.

OldCastleSwift

It's a nice thought ASLEF, but I'd be amazed if we got Bowen. I don't think Hull are under any pressure to sell and I doubt we'll be at the front of the queue if and when he does become available

What’s the situation with Diangana? I thought we had a clause to recall him in January.

Pretty sure we do. Also pretty sure he won't be recalled. Personally, I think that's the right decision as he is thriving on loan, and I would be loathe to see us curtail his development.

I do agree with this, but with Holland also on loan, and injury doubts over Antonio, Masuaku and Anderson, there's an argument for calling him back to give our squad some pace and directness.

True.

It's a very West Ham situation. If we recall him everyone will get fit and he'll get absolutely no minutes. If we don't they'll all stay injured.

~Hull already have plenty of wingers, I can't see why they'd bring in another unless they were expecting someone to leave.

Apparently Leeds made a £3m loan bid for Bowen, Villa have been told he'll cost £20m and they're just one of a dozen teams supposedly interested.

OldCastleSwift

Yeah, so no chance of us getting him.

ASLEFshrugged

Unless Samuelsen was a "sweetener".

OldCastleSwift

I can see the logic, but Samuelsen is worth, what, £1m at best? Even if they cut us a deal we'd still need to find £12-£15m minimum.

Our board has never spent that much in January, and they're not starting now, IMO

ASLEFshrugged

The Telegraph says we can recall Diangana before 27th January but WBA will offer £1.5m to keep him until the end of the season and another £3m to extend the loan into next season whether they get promoted or not.

Bazshuayi

1.5M for a decision to keep him there and develop him :ok:

alderz

I’d definitely bring him back here next season, but £1.5m for what, I think, is the right decision anyway is a pretty sweet deal

puddleglumhammers

Can anyone explain how this loan offer works. £1.5m to the end of the season. 19 games = £ 78,947.37 per game. I know the rewards of getting in the premiership are huge but just under 80k per match for Diangana !

alderz

I guess they feel that they would have to pay more than that to replace him. Wingers available on loan might be more of a risk (less experienced) and they may feel that they would need to buy during a window that puts players at a premium.

puddleglumhammers

I suppose so Alderz. But at least when buying a player you have the addition of possible sell-on value. For just a loan it seems steep per match.

IronHerb

If West Brom get promoted then next year they will make 100 times the loan costs.
Not a bad gamble.

ianbishoplegend

More of a 1.5m gamble for us than them sitting top of the championship

Our board - "We're listening"

Alaves have agreed to loan West Ham goalkeeper Roberto for the rest of the season, according to reports.

We knew that already though, right?

I’m expecting the owners to either delegate to Moyes or sign a new DoF over the next few months

Or the next few years
