If Adrian was to leave my main cocearn would not be the 2 games against City but if Hart was to suffer a long term injury, leaving us without an experanced keeper for a few months.

According to Slav, we've offered Adrian a new deal ;hmm

He's also confirmed Fletcher has left Germany to speak to Boro, and that he expects someone to leave and someone to come in, but not until the end of the window.

  • I'm fairly sure that you don't have to name 8 HG players in the 25, but that you need to have room for 8. So, for example, you could name 0 HG players but only have a squad of 17 players. If Fletcher leaves it could be that our squad is 24, plus youth.

Also, I don't think Fletcher leaving will require a replacement in the squad directly. I don't see him as someone who was likely to start any games this year anyway. IMO, for him to actually get a run of games he would need Hernandez, Carroll, Sakho, Ayew & Antonio to all be unavailable at the same time.

I'm not concerned about Adrián leaving, personally. I think it's fairly easy to pick up an experienced back up goalkeeper of sufficient standard. There is talk of Newcastle wanting a swap deal with Karl Darlow, who would be a very capable deputy to Hart. Then there is talk of Bentley from Brentford, who I know a lot less about but seems to be highly rated.

I also don't think DS comments have led to Adrián and Randolph leaving. They are both sensible and realistic enough to know that Hart is better than them, regardless of Sullivan essentially saying so. However, just my opinion, I would have preferred DS to have said nothing at all.
  • OCS ;ok

lots of info in that interview how the various discussions on this board...

Yes, you are right, I was getting confused. The rules are effectively that if you name 25, 8 must be HG but by implication you can reduce each category equally. (It's different in the lower leagues where they have a HG quota for the team sheet for every match.)

At the outset of the season, each club is allowed to register 25 players over the age of 21. Of those 25 players, 8 must qualify as home grown players (A.1.156). (PL Handbook)

(Memo to self - only rely on primary sources ;doh Supplementary memo to self: Remember! The FA website is rubbish! )
  • Wee bit surprised so many fans have given their clubs such good grades but perspective is everything

Think outside of city and Chelsea who've spent a fortune us, Bournemouth and Everton have done the best moves so far
  • I'm confused....

Imagine telling any Everton fan in 2013 that by 2018, we'd have sold Lukaku, Barkley, Deulofeu and Stones. Shows how far we've come since.

And we all know that is never likely to happen.

    Where's Barkley gone?
  • Nowhere yet, but Koeman has said Barkley wants to go and the club is certain he will.

I'm assuming this is sarcasm, but yeah it is unlikely that all 5 of those players would be injured at the same time often enough for Fletcher to actually get a run of games as a CF for us.

    ADRIAN TO PALACE?

Crystal Palace are in talks with West Ham over a £3m deal for goalkeeper Adrian, reports The Daily Mail.

I prefer the swap with Darlow option myself.
  • 3m for Adrian 30m for pickford ;lol ;lol ;lol
  • I mentioned Adrian to Palace for a pathetic amount back on page 15 ;hmm Now its been mentioned again I can have another moan about it! Why would we even think about settling for less than an 8 figure amount ;doh ;angry We're surely not desperate to sell and the inflated market makes the figures quoted embarrassing. Spurs would be asking 25M!
  • Surely we could get at least £8m for Adrian?
  • Ex claiming there is interest from LFC in Lanzini should Coutinho leave.
  • Waiting for the news that Hart pulled a muscle bending over to pick up a ball in practice. It's the West Ham way!
  • Ex claiming there is interest from LFC in Lanzini should Coutinho leave.

They'll have 50M spare for him I trust ;hmm

That said, if you can get Adrian from us for 3M perhaps we'll let Lanzini go for about 7M ;wahoo
  • If lanzini goes. This goes from one of the best to one of the worst windows for me...

    We surely won't sell..
  • If Liverpool firm up any interest (if indeed the rumour is true), it'll be difficult for us to keep him in reality. Liverpool is still a big draw and he can enjoy Champions league football.
  • If that happens we simply need to command a massive fee AND get a similar player in before he goes.

Any thoughts on gettable players to theoretically replace him and what sort of TF fee?

IMO though I dont think Coutinho will leave Liverpool (this season). So it will not be happening
  • The problem is, ain't nobody like Lanzini.

Him going would hurt us more than when Payet left, IMO.

If he did go, I guess Sig would be a decent replacement, but could we afford him?

Hopefully this won't be a consideration and the Little Gem signs a new deal, but the new contract has all gone a bit quiet, which makes me slightly nervous... ;hmm
  • I love Lanzini, but he's not the messiah.

He has matches in which he is anonymous, just like anyone else.
  • True, but do you not think that him leaving would undo a lot of the good work we've done in the window?
  • Assuming we get big bucks for him....

Shaqiri (that'd please Stoke even more)
    Wilshere ;doh ;weep

    Tadic? Not the worst option

Or, despite him not being a similar player, pay over the odds to get Joshua King and play him behind Little P (please Bob)

    Arnautovic King Antonio
    Chicharito

    #Boom!
  • True, but do you not think that him leaving would undo a lot of the good work we've done in the window?

Depends how much money we got and who we got to replace him.

Ever the optimist, I'll say it could make the window better....
  • No way Liverpool will be looking to replace Coutinho with Lanzini. He's not even remotely near to that class.

    And I love the guy.

    Antonio's been crowned king? ;nonono

    When did that happen?
