Quick, skillful, play maker who can thread a pass from stupid angles, assist and score (he does get injured a fair bit though). Players like him and David Silva aren't easy to come by
Now I am thinking how much playing time will Silva get a City now they've signed a younger Silva ;hmm Surely we couldnt go back to City and ummm, forget it ;wink
I still wouldve wanted him to go on loan ( for a couple of reasons ). However, I hope we have a sell on clause or even a buy back one or I dont think 6.5M is that good business or that good an offer
Sorry to drag this up again but I've not been here for a couple of days, seen this and am a little aggravated. I think in general the Daves have done a top job this summer, and are clearly striving to give us the opportunity to push on. However, why does he feel the need to say this publicly, they have left our club, why drag them through the mud now? I know Sullivan tries his best for the club and he has a right to his opinion as much (if not more) than others, but it is bad practice in my opinion to deride people in public behind their back, unprofessional IMO. Particularly as it is yesterdays issue, season 16/17 matters not anymore. Slightly annoying.
Also I would disagree that Zaza 'looked totally disinterested', he is not the run everywhere hit the channels striker, and we knew that before we brought him in. He is a middle-sitting, hustler, skill and shoot striker in the Berbatov mould. Unfortunately he simply wasn't as skilled as Berb so couldn't get away with it in our league. In Italy (and now in Spain it seems) where the game is played at a slower pace he is a useful player.
Nice to see us getting a bit of money back this summer
Nordtveit, Valencia and Randolph were all squad players who netted us a nice £15mil
Fletcher just elft for another £7m, pretty sure Adrian, Feghouli and Snodgrass may be off bringing in about £15m again so £37mil total (although I feel we should try get at least £8m for Adrian and Feghouli not the figures that have been mentioned)
If they do get sold separately does leave us a little light in the wing positions but enough in the kitty to reinvest
Really hope that this Lanzini being injured and out of the Bremen games is legit and not due to speculation regarding him to Liverpool. Whilst I agree that currently he is a bit behind Coutinho in ability, so are a lot of people. I think if Coutinho leaves they could well want Lanz, yes he's not quite as good yet (certainly doesn't score as many goals) but is prem adjusted, good to go, and is getting better year on year. It is a real worry IMO if Barce do snap up Coutinho. Who else plays at CAM, is used to the prem, scores and creates, and is at a 'smaller' team than Liverpool so they can poach. Of all the examples I can think of, I would rather Lanz.
Really hope that's true MrsG, really don't want to lose our Little Gem. I'm just always dubious when players suddenly have minor injuries when speculation around them is high, e.g. Arnie just before moved to us.
It's a good business model get them for free and sell them next summer...
But also it's a sign of our progress that we can sell these players without an impact on the first 11...
When BFS got us up they would all have been first 11 probably...
It does impact on the first 11 if we don't reinvest it though.
With Antonio and Kouyate injured we can get by. But another injury to any midfielder and we will be looking light. You could say that, that is the way it just happens sometimes. But there should be two players for every position and we are 'Potentially' selling some wingers leaving us no backups. We pretty much are running with Arnie / Ayew / Lanzini (if he even makes it !) otherwise I have no idea what formation we will playing since we only have one fit striker currently ! and probably only one fit striker come the first game of the season.
imagine if we were still relying on Sakho and Carroll becoming fit again ;whistle
Could be a consideration, especially if playing 3 at the back, that Cresswell and Byram are potentially 'back-up' wingers ... certainly not first or second choice, but back-ups none the less.
Personally think Adrian will stay until Jan at least. See how it goes for 6 months and if he can gain his place back (think we all know never gonna happen apart from injury).
We still need some depth to our squad. Really need another CM, another forward and potentially another person who can play behind the striker in one of those three positions, especially with Fegs and Snodgrass looking unlikely to both be here. You only have to take out one or two players (like Kouyate and Lanzini) and we're struggling again to field a competitive side. I think it's very naive to think we can rely on Fernandes and Cullen as back-up. Currently we have injuries hanging over 2/3 of our first team midfielders. Defence is ok, but depends how badly Collins and Oggy's knocks are and if Reid is gonna be ready for Man Utd.
If we don't get those additional 2/3 players I don't think this window has been a success, just a window of signings that we should be making.
Really hope G&S have stopped patting themselves on the back now and realise that a good start to the window needs to be backed up in the next couple of weeks with a couple more. They've done well but if we resting on our laurels we're gonna be short for the season IMO.
I agree to an extent, ald, but I also think they would benefit from regular games. So Champo loans would be good, taking them out of our emergency equation.

Our options now are:
Hernandez
Carroll
Sakho
Ayew
Martinez
Antonio
Two are made of glass, one is entirely untested and two aren't out-and-out strikers.
We need someone to support Hernandez and I think the club will get someone in to do just that. Pretty sure it'll be Gray.
Makeweight for Dembele to West Ham would be some good business
£7mil for a player with one goal last season and only league 1 experience isn't bad with a 'reported' sell on fee of 20% this could be a decent deal
Also does anyone know if the parent club will get money from a sell on fee if they are the ones buying the player
For instance if we bid £15mil for Fletcher next year would we still get £3mil from the deal......

I was meaning they are players that are not part of our first 11 assuming all are fit...
RB: Zabaleta byram
CB: Reid, Ogbonna, Fonte, Collins (Burke)
LB: Masuaka, Cresswell
CM: Noble, Kouyate, Obiang, Fernandes (Cullen)
AM: Lanzini, Ayew
WG: Arnautovic, Antonio, Snodgrass, Feghouli (Holland)
ST: Hernandez, Carroll, Sakho (Martinez)
Only we could have a strength in depth like that but also feel uneasy because so many of them pick up injuries
Think we are a centre midfielder, winger (or 2 if Snodgrass and Feghouli leave) and a attacker short

So CM and striker fills it.
If Snodgrass and/or Fegs leave we need a replacement for him/them who is an improvement.
If we need depth for emergencies let's use our youngsters
