  • What you gonna change your name to Baz? #batsnotgonnahappen
  • I'm staying defiant

Bats the way, aha aha, I like it ;nolan
  • Very speculative piece of journalism. Would happily take Ake, but not if it means we lose Og.
  • I would take Ake too.

Part of me thinks I would take him over Oggy but I'm not sure. Ake looked excellent for Bournemouth, is younger, would probably command less wages. But, I really like Oggy.
  • Ake for Ogbonna is a ;hmm, I think Ake is ok but I don't know if he is better than Ogbonna currently, however if Burke and Oxford make it that could be a back 3 set for years to come.

I just hope we get the RB and Striker situation sorted Early Early Doors so that they are available come the first game of pre-season to get integrated.
  • Ake was third choice CB behind Simon Francis and Steve Cook, he only got starts when Francis was either unavailable or was covering the right back position. Okay he's young but we have plenty of youngsters coming through at CB, do we really need another one?

Plus he's a bit short for a CB, just 5' 11", same height as Noble but shorter than Byram
  • Are you sure the last sentence shouldn't end " ... they are available come the first game of the pre-season to get injured." ?
  • ;kanye

    you're probably right.

And Arsenal in talks with Onyekuru.

Two of our reported transfer targets already being courted by other teams ;lol

£6.8m release clause and a 'lifelong Arsenal fan', apparently
  • Jermain Defoe opens talks with Bournemouth, according to SSN.

He can replace King once he comes to us ;biggrin
  • I'd take Ake and give Oggy to Chelsea especially if it means they'll play ball with Batshuayi coming also. Then, that'll save my username which, at the end of the day, is more important than either transfer ;whistle

Yes, they will need him for their Thursday nights in the Europa League, if he can anywhere near the First Team?

  • Ex stating that we're going in for both Bats and Iheanacho.

    Fairly confident we'll land neither.

Also reporting that Defoe isn't a top target anymore.

As much as I want Bats and/or Iheanacho, I can't help but think Defoe is much more realistic.

OCS - Defoe will bag a hatful for Bournemouth the way they play. Can see something like 15-18 goals. ;ok

    IMO

    2/3??

    ;hmm

If the 'next level' is up to 10th i agree

    (4 or 5 needed IMO )
  • Bats and Iheanacho would make us appreciably better IMO so despite being skeptical we'll even get one of them, the hopeful WHU supporter in me would love it!

    #Keegan

Feghouli Antonio Obiang Kouyate Lanzini Ayew
    Iheanacho
    Carroll Batshuayi

    #yum options!
  • I would rather 2 or 3 first team signings than 7 or 8 squad players

I would like us to put in a serious bid for Iheanacho even though I am not convinced he will want to come to us. I believe Everton are interested.
  • I think we would have a decent shot at Iheanacho. Go in early with a £20m bid, I say. Show him he is our number one target

Would rather Iheanacherz over Batshuayerz personally.
  • Either would represent a really positive statement by the club.
  • I feel like I would be fine (not happy) with Zabaleta and a quality striker, if that's all we got this window (and another striker assuming we get rid of Valencia).

Our squad really isn't that bad. In fact, it's the best squad I've ever seen for us.

Obviously I'd rather we get some more quality players in (maybe another proper creative player like lanzini or a better CB) but getting a striker that we can rely on would transform our team and our play.
  • Didn't I hear somewhere that over the season we have played with about 30% of our First Team Squad injured?

Need to replace those that have proved not good enough, doesn't include Fegs or Fernandes but does Johnny C. What we could do with a 15 goal striker as one who scores above 20 a season cost too much but if the midfield chip in with spreading the goals about we could have a successful campaign next year. ;pray
  • Well I don't think he's wrong, the club isn't exactly poor it's just missing a couple areas of quality

Like an attacking midfielder can be bought but if we are being honest it's a luxury buy as we have Lanzini, Antonio, Ayew, Feghouli and Snodgrass at the club

Likewise we can probably upgrade at CB but we currently have Reid, Fonte, Ogbonna, Collins with Burke, Rice and Oxford coming through

As adam said we could do with it but it'll probably cost about £25mil in each of those positions for us to upgrade

Even at CM we can probably bring someone in but we have Kouyate, Obiang, Noble, Fernandes, Nordtveit

The 3 positions we NEED are RB and 2 strikers

It's not even about getting a striker who can get 15/20 goals (which obviously we do want) but a striker who's a handful that will play over 30 games a season

  • So you're happy to pay £25-30m for a return of 5 goals over 30 games. No thanks.
