For a while, our defensive play (not, note, our defence but the whole defensive performance) was rubbish. That's mostly been fixed. And that's down to the coaching team. Unless you believe that it (rubbish defending ... subsequent improvements) is all in spite of the coaching team? In which case, sacking them will have no effect.
If as everyone says, confidence and momentum are big factors, then is it surprising that performances have struggled. Since we don't have confidence or much momentum. (Fans play a part here.)
And yet. And yet. We now have pretty much all of our players injury free. But still we play badly. I don't know if Slav knows what to do to fix it. I am doubtful, therefore, f it is actually worth him staying. (I think his lack of experience is telling, here.)
I am wondering if, in the context of 'now we have our best team available' it is rather the case that we have our best players available. But are they, together, really the best TEAM. Because I am tending towards thinking that the transfer targets (for which I hold the manger responsible) are 'good players' but not really 'the right players that will form a good team and combine to be more than the sum of their parts'.
Sorry. Rambling a bit. Thinking aloud. But I think that last bit I said is at the heart of it and explains why we have (on paper) many skilful players but not really a team that gets the best out of everybody. ;hmm Will think some more about it. But if that IS the root of the problem, getting rid of Slav now won't fix it.
I hope Slav grows some, and stops defending the players. There was nothing wrong with the starting team. They should have played better. I blame the players.

His greatest attribute is his passion and belief in attacking football together with his man management, and I feel his greatest weakness is his transfer business, it's possible the board have been responsible in part for this also but we will certainly not know to what extent, but either way I feel for the money spent a manager who has had 4 transfer windows should have a more cohesive team than we do.
The bookies list of potential managers is the usual bunch and only 1 or 2 would inspire you, you then have the unobtainable and the Harry Redknapp so I think the club will likely let him stay for a bit at least but will be working upon a change to be in place by the start of the next transfer window.
Why would the new owners want to replace a world class manager at a less than world class club? They aren't going to get anyone better than Benitez and he's doing incredibly well with what he's got. The new owners should be begging him to stay

In Ashley, Rafa currently has not exactly a great owner. He must be delighted that is about to change. Why on earth would he want to leave and join the Dave’s especially after the carvalho saga. He won’t come anywhere near us IMO
I wasn't saying he would come to us. And yes, I agree that if the new owners promised him more money for players that would likely solve a big part of his disgruntlement.
And it would make sense for the new owners to keep him... but how often do owners do the sensible thing?
Recipe for disaster?
Wagner or Silva would be exactly what we need. A young, dynamic coach is exactly what we need. If you want to go more experienced then Benetiz is an ideal pick. Bilic just isn’t good enough in certain areas.
What they are doing currently is embrassing and very negative. Knowing they will let Bilic go in the summer but won’t pull the trigger now because the freebies are not who they want. Shocking.
If a manager is struggling and as a result wants to resign, why on earth would any club want to turn it down ;doh
The daves have done themselves no favours in the recent past. If they want to pussy foot around and do neither one thing nor another, they might as well follow mike ashley’s path and put the club up for sale.
