IronHerb how much to the BMF that Sakho doesn't play a game for West Ham before Christmas ;lol

    Needs to be sold asap
  • Cant sell him if he doesn't play.
  • @Yeoldhammer - Rumours currently that we ARE trying to offload Sakho. His contract ends next summer and as far as I am aware we haven't offered him a new one. I read a couple of days ago in the dirt rags that we've approached some Turkish teams and offered him, but thus far it seems, no bites.
  • We could sell him for glue ;hmm
  • if he's fit you can sell him. one of the reasons players leave and go to other clubs is because they don't play as much as they would like
  • We could sell him for glue ;hmm

Anticipate a number of sticking points on that deal.

Regarding more players leaving than joining, we specifically bought extra 'squad' players last season to bulk up our experienced first teamers as we were expecting a full season in the europa.

Obviously we were knocked out before the group stages less than 2 weeks ater the prem even started. Thereby we simply need a smaller squad this season then we planned for last (a successfull europa drive could have added an extra 19 games to our season).

This is why we need a smaller amount of experienced players this year, we simply are expecting less games. For example we brought in Nordtveit, giving us 4 experienced CM, when we only play 2 per game, because we thought we'd also have lots of extra europa games. We subsequently couldn't provide enough matches to keep them all happy (Nordtveit only played 15 games last season, and a fair few of those were in his less favoured RB or CB or as a sub) hence why he wanted out.

@Yeoldhammer - I disagree here. Yes, players leave if they don't get enough games, but only when a club wants them in. With Sakho, he's barely played for a season (and only half the season before that), has had documented personal issues off the pitch, he apparently failed a medical at West Brom last summer, and his contract ends next year when a club could get him on a free. Who wants to bother buying him now? It's easy to say 'well someone will give him a chance', but quite simply, up to now no-one has. I really feel he'll be here just about doing enough to receive his wages until he leaves on a free next summer. A shame as I used to enjoy watching him play, but I just want him out now.

  • Former West Ham and Chelsea striker Carlton Cole is to be sacked by Indonesia's Persib after failing to find the net since his arrival in March, the team's manager said Tuesday.

    Barn door wasn't big enough
  • I get confused with the many Dembeles.

To be fair, if you stuck all the Dembele players in a transfer list hat, you wouldn't mind which one came out. They're all good players!

A bit harsh, out of 17 games he was with them he only started three, he's never played a full 90 minutes, was subbed on in two more and was left on the bench five times. He was left out of the squad for five games up until Saturday when he got his third start.

He wasn't given much of a chance
  • From the manager

"It's the management's decision to dismiss him, we will have a new player in the second round of the season," Muchtar said. "He plays very badly compared to the other (foreign players) who have joined Persib. He had the worst performance," Muchtar added

  • N'Diaye now rated at 4.9 out of 5 on the sky sports Odemwingie scale to join Galatasary.
  • And Boudedouz rumoured to be going to Real Betis
  • Is that not a wine?
  • I fear the rest of this window may be a tale of us missing out on players we were never in for in the first place.
  • Well, if he couldn't get many starts.......
  • Good moves for their developments but it means that we require an extra body in CM (if we didn't already)
  • Telegraph reports Leicester are signing Iheanacho with a £50m buy back clause.

If true......it is hard not to be annoyed at that, that is a huge profit that could be made and if that was the sticking point for us

But apparantly it was Bilics choice so have to hope he is right
  • Wouldn't swap Hernandez for Iheanacho in a million years, anyway.
  • Neither would I but I'd have Hernandez AND iheanacho any day of the week

Hernandez probably won't get us any sell on value now whereas £50mil for iheanacho (if he reaches those heights) is loads to reinvest into the squad
  • Just can't help but feel squad is light.
  • Yea I agree, the word "light" is a good description of our midfield atm

We need a strong DM who is also athletic and can move about well (Like gueye at everton) and a back up striker if we intend to loan out Martinez

Would also like a new CB but on paper we should be deep enough to cope....I'm just not a huge fan of Fonte, Ogbonna or Collins

We need a CB. Ogbonna has never 100% convinced me. Fonte and Collins lack pace.

Adrian showed yesterday exactly why we've signed Hart.

We need a CM and we need competition for Lanzini should he be unavailable. Let's be honest he's a hot and cold player anyway.

    That's 3 players.

Not to mention the other striker I feel we still need.

We're going to OT with Martinez as our only fully fit striker.

Whilst I'm not ITK, I can confidently predict we won't be getting a CB this window (unless one leaves.)

It isn't that we 'need' these players, it's just that you don't fancy the ones we've got.

Fair enough, but I don't think Slav shares your PoV.
  • Ogbonna and Reid have long-term contracts so I expect they'll be our No1 centre back pairing. Fonte and Collins will be the back-ups, and I suspect Rice has done enough to be the 5th choice, so I can't see any CBs coming in either.

I do think we need a CM and a striker (three have been moved on and two of our current crop are rarely fit), and I also think we're a winger light (particularly as I fully expect Snodgrass to go before the month's out).

But I don't get this as an approach if the options aren't good enough? It's basically saying "we have four CB's and so need no more". What if all four were League One standard? I know they aren't but you see my point?

Reid is far and away our best CB. Collins and Ogbonna have played regularly under Slav since his arrival and we've always conceded a load of goals. Fonte was signed last January and, again, defence was leaky. Granted we did improve in the final 6 games of the season, defensively. But I do think CB is the least priority position. If we went with what we have, I'd be ok with that.
  • if the options aren't good enough
    I didn't say they weren't, you did.

I said I don't think Slav agrees with your assessment.
