  • Plenty ;ok
  • had a feeling that'd be the case ;biggrin
  • He seems an exciting talent and the "type" of player that Lanzini is which will be very useful as no one I'm the squad atm can do what Lanzini does

Sad to see Feghouli go but he was on big wages which the club thought would be better spent elsewhere

And wth all due respect if Feghouli was THAT good better teams than galatasaray would be in for him
  • Boo boys? So you're saying we will 'Al ger' him of he comes ;run
  • back on topic... yes please to Boudebouz... See, I did it, no puns or quips, nothing ;wahoo
  • If we do get Boudebouz, he will be able to meet most of the team in the sick bay.

    "NO REID DEPARTURE

West Ham will turn down any interest in defender Winston Reid.

The London Evening Standard reports Everton are considering a £9m move for the New Zealand international.

But the paper adds West Ham are ready to reject all offers for the 29-year-old."

  • Correct me if I'm wrong but does Reid have a buyout clause in his contract (like £20mil)

If so think it's worth the club looking at raising that given the inflated market
  • To raise the buy out they would need to raise his wages,
  • I'm getting the hang of this journalism lark.

Day 1 select a player at random and link him with a club at random or if bothered one that may need a player in that position.

Day 2 fill the columns by stating that the club is not interested in a sale.

I'm not sure I'm any the wiser after reading what Slav has to say about more transfers.

Although we shouldn't expect any 'exciting' signings ;lol ;lol

Be careful. If you dig anymore we might have to deal with you.
  • 9m for Winston Reid, I think someone is trying to rob someone.

Reid is a great player, with a great temperament who conducts himself well. Were we to consider selling I think 20m would be the minimum we would even start a conversation from, but hope the report is correct and that he is not for sale at any price.

I think Ferghouli's move is right for everyone as although he did show signs of ability I feel he would have been quite a way from commanding a place in the starting 11. It was a disastrous window last summer but all anyone can do is learn from them, and this is seems we are doing.

Last season Players from Turkey etc without adequate experience at premiership level whilst this year four players all with said experience. If the club did it again we have a problem but they have clearly recognised the failure of last seasons window and are spending what is necessary. Now keep our best such as Reid and Lanzini and we will be stronger, which is exactly the point of a transfer window.
  • ;hmm so no more exciting signings so any player we try and get will now know that hes not exciting .why not say any player we get will benefit the squad and help push us to the next level
  • I'm delighted with our business and think we've done superbly. Not worried at all about who else we do or don't sign.

I took the 'exciting' bit to mean: we aren't signing another striker.
  • I'll pretend to be unexcited by this if it helps us sign him. yawn

    HAMMERS IN BOUDEBOUZ BATTLE

Real Betis have lodged a €7m offer to Montpellier for West Ham target Ryad Boudebouz, according to France Football.

The Hammers have been monitoring developments regarding the Algerian playmaker for some time are understood to be interested in signing him.

The Hammers face a battle to bring him to the London Stadium though, with Genoa, Bayer Leverkusen and Sampdoria joining Betis on the trail of the 27-year-old.

For me, what Slav was saying in the interview about 'exciting' meant no more players who could expect to go straight into our starting line-up. He made the point that once the season starts, some players will not be happy to be 'understudy' and may look to leave, in which case we would look to replace them with players not guaranteed a start at their current clubs. - so players who would lack that 'wow' factor.

However, it seemed to me that he also left the door open for an 'exciting' transfer if someone unexpected became available.
  • You kind of get the impression that they have learnt from last season already and personally must feel this is the way to go given the lack of moaning/backlash from fans

While this window has been very very good I don't want us to be too narrow minded and every window only go for premier league experience and in their prime (past their prime?)

It makes sense and I am happy with the deals made but there has to be a good balance of short and long term and the club have done pretty well with long term targets (Masuaka, Holland, Fernandes, Martinez, Fletcher profit, Quina etc) so hope we continue with that

Think we need a new winger/playmaker to cover the loss of Feghouli but I'm happy with that being it and like people have said a good deal becomes available then I feel we will go for it
  • It's been a very decent window, however by my reckoning we have lost 6 midfielders/forwards (incl Zaza) and gained 2. Now if Slav considers any of the academy players good enough and ready to play a part in the first team, then that would be fantastic. If not, then I still think we may be a little stretched.
  • If Winston Reid chose not to leave for Arsenal when his contract was nearly up meaning a nice signing on fee, champions league football for a genuine top four at the time team I cannot see him being interested in Everton at this time. Koeman looks a good manager and will likely move himself in the not to distant. Wouldn't be surprised if he ended up at Arsenal actually.

    Koeman at arsenal
    That would make me ;lol
    For short time
  • Baracks ;ok

Still think we're a winger, a striker, and a No10 short of a complete squad, but if Holland, Martinez and Samuelsen step up then great.

    But it's a big 'if'.
  • Hope we don't regret not bringing in more players.
  • Regret is our middle name ;wahoo
  • I'd rather just enjoy who we have signed, and not stress about every position where we don't have two potential first-teamers.

I think we have good cover and a couple of spaces for young players to force their way in if need be.

We've learned from last season and haven't gone scattergun. We've made great signings at targeted positions.

There's a poll on the Sky Sports website asking fans to rank summer signings: Chicarito is number one at the moment, ahead of Lukaku, Morata and Man City's seven full-backs.

Huge well done to the club from me on not just who we've signed but how we've gone about out business.
  • Man City's seven full-backs.

    ;lol ;lol
  • Je ne regret rien.

    French bloke.
  • As you said we've gone down the wingers route with mixed if not poor success with the likes of downing, Feghouli, Jarvis, Snodgrass etc who are all good crossers with little success

Ironically the mentioned guys....well mainly just Downing and Feghouli.....enjoyed their best success behind the strikers in more central roles

I think Carroll is not around enough for it to be a huge priority and I also think Carroll performs best when te crosses are more erratic then constant balls into the box (he ends up just giving away fouls)....I think Cresswell/Masuaka will provide the crosses from the left overlapping Arnie and Antonio and Zab will share the crosses from the right so he won't be isolated

I agree though we probably need a #10 in the Lanzini ilk as he links the entire team and we look lost without him
  • Different Jota, no? Wolves signed the Atletico Madrid one.

I can't be dealing with that! Pick a player with a different name, I'm finding all this hard enough as it is. ;weep
