  • Absolute shambles of a season so far

And yet we're still 13th ;ok
  • Grey

Get your point however berahinho wasn't key to West Brom on the field, probably want getting paid anywhere near what payet is and wasn't ever one of the best players in Europe playing for a "smaller club" - there are quite a few differences
  • Another detail - that Mirror article says his family are unsettled and want to return to France.

I don't know how true that is.

But even if it is, he could have handled it MUCH better.
  • 20m tell Marseilles to double it or move on.
  • 20m tell Marseilles to double quadruple it or move on.

    Fixed it for ya! ;wink
  • While I would agree with you Grey, we should slap an £80M price tag on his head... however, I think he will be sold but the fee will be undisclosed unfortunately.
  • Not a problem KHA - Luke will find out what the fee is and will share it with us
  • Not sure if it's a chicken/egg situation. Is he unhappy because on the whole we've been rubbish or have we been rubbish because he came back with a grass is greener attitude and unsettled everyone.
  • Or none of the above. ;hmm

Yes, apparently his family have been looking at houses in the French quarter

    of Manchester................

Not sure Dimi has a right to be disappointed with the players. Two years ago, I had no idea who he was while Feghouli and Ayew had shown they were pretty good for both club and country.

That actually makes it worse, if we'd got our act together in the summer, who knows where we'd be

    #11th

    ;biggrin

Thing is, we've not heard his side yet, and there will be one.

Slav is great, but once you cross him, you're normally done, short term or long term.....

He's not to be messed with and I love him

    ;carew
  • I actually don't feel angry about Payet.....nothing, nope nothing whatsoever.

Enjoyed his best parts and that's about it.

  • So we have payet throwing a strop, Sakho throwing a strop and Feghouli who apparently did likewise towards the end of his time at his previous club. Slav must have his work cut out!!

The Sun illustrates its story with pictures of the players at training today.

Including one of Slav and Reid, captioned 'Slaven Bilic talking to Hammers captain Winston Reid. He will be looking to him to help keep the squad together. ;doh
  • The rot started after our ridiculous exit from the Europa League where not enough preparation was done to stop lightning from striking twice. The only glimmer after that for Payet was for us to finish top 6 and by the start of January that had well and truly faded. I can understand him thinking that he has one last chance to sign for one of the top 6 or 7 clubs in Europe but the manner is appalling. Do it quietly. To refuse to play is a disgrace to his teammates and to the club.
Sell him for as much as possible (refusing to sell him is bringing us down to his level) and tell Lanzini to fill Payet's boots. Spend the money on some future-looking signings - Batshuayi for example, maybe even Snodgrass, but surely not not Defoe !
  • Sahko sulked when Carroll was named in the starting XI instead of him and he came back, no reason Payet can't say sorry to Slaven and everything will be forgiven.

Mrs G - my dad always told me to never believe anything in the Sun other than the date at the top of the page but then they once managed to get that wrong
  • ;quaver Goodbye Payet, Dimitri Payet,
I just don't think you understand,
You're only one man, not bigger than West Ham,
    Goodbye Dimitri Payet ;quaver
  • I feel for Slav.

    Must feel massively let down.
  • You could see his disappointment and frustration in the interview, he's not one for hiding his emotions
  • Absolutely not.

It seems pretty likely they are the ones who have engineered this (in collaboration with Payet and his agent) so I'd either flatly refuse to do business with them or insist on £80m for him.
  • of course take the 30 m and move on trouble is if there the only interested club why bid so much .payet wants out we all know how this will end .also if we don't invest the money quick will there be a tax problem .so perhaps West ham are thinking hold on till summer more time to invest .wish we could just get shot but don't know the ins and outs of it all
  • Funny how he flew off to France Friday after the cup game.

As grey says I bet there's been some collaboration between Payet (his advisers) and Marseille.

Off course they have. When Ive spoken to people of the club they always said the only place Payet would move to is back to France. I thought it would be PSG though.

Marseilles know they are in the driving seat. Man U can come in with £50m but if he only wants to go to Marseilles...

    Yep a little bit........

But, man management is a massive part of today's game and the list of fall outs is growing rapidly.

Personally I wouldn't want him rotting in the reserves on 80K basic a week (he only gets 125K when all the bonuses come in).....

Just get 35-40m and spend it wisely ( this time )
