There was an article somewhere saying Rudi Garcia ? whoever the Marseilles boss was had "successfully convinced Payet to rejoin Marseilles" so there was some definite colluding.

I think the club are 100% solid on this, and have not done anything to deserve such behaviour.

I'm not interested in teaching Payet a lesson; I'm interested in the club teaching other players and agents a lesson abut how the club is run.

If that means that Payet falls by the wayside and rots in the reserves, I won't shed any tears.

How has he called any bluff? If he was told he could go in the summer, why on earth would he Nelly the Elephant now? And how would it be a bluff?

If he wants to go back to Marseille then he can go when they make an acceptable offer, I understand he didn't want to leave in the first place. Don't want him just rotting in on the sidelines collecting his money. By all means play hardball by no player is bigger than the club and we need to look to the future & get new players in a.s.a.p.

Do have a little (very small) amount of sympathy if he was told we would be improving the squad over the Summer as we patently didn't do that and failed to get into the Europa League which would have put us in a better place when he returned from his extended break after the Euros.

I think saying you aren't coming to training and you are never playing for the club again, and you want to leave, would be considered as a transfer request by most people...

Steve do you mean in writing? I think telling Slaven "I want to leave and I don't want to play for West Ham again" is good enough for me as a transfer request.

I believe there is a difference between asking to leave and putting in an official transfer request, purely in terms of contractual semantics.

Putting in an official request will result in a waiver of loyalty bonuses and possible other ad hoc payments. It's the very least the disgrace can do in my mind if it does result in waiving extra payouts when he's sold.

General question but I wonder if there is some kind of legal requirement for Payet to actually live within a certain distance to the club? Could hypothetically move his family to Paris and catch the eurostar every day (just over 2 hours in duration), as long as he is punctual and trains hard the club couldn't complain.

Hadn't seen the actual interview but just saw the quotes - have now seen it and it is very raw and emotional. You can see Slav is visibly cut up by it. Lots of references to tapping up.

On that point in particular, if club sanctioned announcements like the (former) "insider" are not blatant forms of tapping up, I don't know what is (example mousse dembele). On this particular issue the club has no right whatsoever to preach righteousness...

I'm cross, upset and a bit miffed. Absolutely certain he has been tapped up, but to be honest he is a journeyman player. He was lucky enough to play for us, but I wish it had not ended like this. If indeed it is all true, I have no reason to doubt Slaven.

My son has already removed March from his West Ham Official calendar. He is also looking at Zaza at the moment who is on the January page wondering when to remove him. Lets hope he has at least one player that stays up for the year!

Payet - get rid quick. I previously stated that I thought he would go to PSG for £30million. I'd take £30 million from anyone who wants him without thinking about it - move him on.

Defoe, although a great striker, I cannot forgive him for handing in a transfer request the day after we were relegated so would rather someone else or put Fletcher on the pitch.

I have to agree with all of TWC's earlier post today. Invest in those who have interest in the club and I congratulate Bilic on hanging Payet out to dry.

Big John Hartson nailed it in the talk sport interview imo... The club hold all the cards at the moment, we don't "need" the money, although, would be handy for further investment in the squad.

I truly hope that messers Gold and Sullivan take a hard line on this one, no accepting of mediocre bids £20-30M, bare minimum of £40M. Better still hold him to his huge contract, fine him if he isn't holding his end of the contract up.

Personally I can't see him playing for us again, but, if he does, he will need to put forth a huge amount of effort to win back the fans and most importantly the respect from his teammates and management.

Two weeks down the line Slaven and Dimi could be a big bromance with every thing forgiven.

Sakho might not have been that bad though. I don't think any of that ever came out officially, just rumours in the papers and I think the fact he was injured made it look worse.
