I know its been mentioned on earlier thread comments but I think we should bring in Ravel Morrison before Payet jumps ship...
I suggest a twitter campaign to whip up a Rav come back frenzy (whilst I conveniently ignore the nay sayers and, of course, Leo Sayers)
Why? Many reasons of course. Here are some....
BFS isn’t here anymore
We have a better squad than when he left
He wouldn’t cost a lot so we’re hardly taking a massive financial gamble
Who else could we attract who has his ability and potential (again for the outlay). Game changers aren’t two a penny
Maybe hes matured and will respond to the love of Slav. Even if we get 50% of Ravs potential out of him that’d be more than a good deal of players
If he does well for us, other clubs would still be wary of him (and we’d get a good profit from any sale from any other club mad enough to pay a lot for him)
Its better than getting Adebayor for our own Rav
If Burnley can re-sign Barton then it cant be worse than that! ;nonono
Lazio director Igli Tare said in October 2015 that Morrison "has undoubted quality and is world class, as well as being a little mad". FourFourTwo writer Alasdair Mackenzie predicted that with a more humble approach, Morrison could become a favourite of the Lazio fans, who had previously revered other eccentric players such as Paul Gascoigne and Paolo Di Canio.
Former Hammer Ravel Morrison has been nominated for Italy’s ‘Bidone D’Oro’ award meaning ‘Golden Dustbin’. Not a great tribute as to how well he has done.
Nobody is bigger than the club, not even me ;biggrin
He's not had his head turned..........
He is a typical modern day footballer, he has no real allegiance to us, it's just another stepping stone and will be a chapter or two in his book one day.
I don't think he'll be gone in January, possibly the summer.
However if someone offers 40-50m in the next few weeks, I'd take it and stick Lanzini in his role.....if not and he wants to go in the summer then 30-35m will suffice.
the books will show how much the club spent last summer and it will also show that it was a record spend, not bad for a club that is effectively "skint" and is still relying on Payday loans....
the problem is, they spent the bulk of it on the wrong players/deals, not that they didn't spend enough.
Such a poor window on all counts as they did spend but did so with a Europa campaign in mind rather than strengthen the first eleven, but actually managed to compile a group who would have and did have no chance even in the Europa league. I suspect they will learn from it however and correct things in this window, fingers crossed anyway.
Back to Dimi and I think there are not too many clubs who would pay what should be our asking price for a 30 year old, Wenger definitely doesn't pay 30-35m for such a player and would want him for about 12m, PSG would pay it and he may end up there as Barca and Madrid may not have space for him.
We've been lucky to catch him at his peak and he's been fantastic, but if I could be sure the owners would invest all of it in genuine quality then I'd take it.
Trouble is I don't trust them from making another almighty mess of things
Let's be real. If we do sell him for £30m, £40m even £70m, we wouldn't be able to replace his true game changing ability. Although I agree with Claretandbluesky that we are unlikely to get that much for him anyway.
This is sadly IMO only gonna end in him leaving... Now we must hold out for the best deal and perhaps try and include a swap ( including a striker/RB & winger !!)... Had one really good season now thinks he's on par with Messi & Ronaldo... No backbone for me, regardless how we are currently playing or our league position... Only thing we can do, Cash in when the time suits us
“We have said we don’t want to sell our best players but Payet does not want to play for us. He wants to leave,” Bilic said. “We are not going to sell him. “This team, the staff, we gave him everything, we were always there for him. I feel let down. I feel angry.”
I always thought that once he went to the Euros his head would be turned. Of all the players in the French team he is playing for the worst club side so is obviously envious. Had we bought well and played well this season he may well have thought it is a project coming to fruition.

Apparently he’s a ‘baller’ ;wink

I wonder if it's worth a gamble/the risk. ;hmm

I don't think we will see the real money spent for another 2-3 years at the LS and that's assuming they keep filling it (or selling tickets)
I think it is. its not as if his talent is unknown in the Prem (like a new buy from abroad) and we wont be shelling out a fortune either.
I realize the history and potential pitfalls, just think the potential plusses outweigh the obvious potential negatives (ill leave it there)

So keep him and let's have some fun!!
But no transfers are nailed on guaranteed successes, are they?
Even when the top PL clubs have spanked £40m + on a player, who is playing in a good side, it hasn't always worked.
Michu looked a genius signing by Swansea, and I'm sure many clubs would have taken him the following year for big money.
Grant Holt was the 15 goals a season striker people were looking for.
We could add dozens and dozens more between us.
I'd rather the club didn't sell him, but if they do, I'd hope it would be for an eye-watering amount above £50m.
If he wants to go, we need to let him go and move on.
I can see him going to PSG for around £30 million.
Passing stats
Key passes, pass success rate and average number of passes per game... all better so far than last season's average.
So he's passing more and better.
He's being fouled more.
Shots per game, dribbles and key passes, all up from last season.
Tackling and interceptions are down on last season. Clearances up.
;run

I think we see why the bigger clubs haven't gone after him in the past, attitude is as important as ability at the top level.
