Zaza has had five starts in the Premier League compared with Feghouli five as a substitute. The latter is a decent player but I doubt we will line up in a way to play to his strengths.
And on Andy Carroll, who made his first start since August he added: “It’s no secret I’m a big fan of him. I’m not a big fan ‘cos he’s a cousin or relative. It’s what I see on the training pitch. He is a miracle. What he gives to the team is massive.”
Slav speaking after the game about Andy.. Just love that comment about cousin or relative ;ok
I agree. This season was always going to be difficult. We had to cope with: a) the new stadium (any team moving seems to have trouble in their first season at their new home) b) expectations after last season c) the fact that the new signings didn't work as well as last year's d) injuries to important players at the start of the season and subsequently e) restless and impatient supporters, many of whom were unhappy with any combination of the above.
I seriously doubt that the Chairmen think along the same lines as you re: Bilic. Certainly their public statements suggest none of the crisis scenario you seem to imagine.
We've had our best XI out over the last few weeks (the only games we didn't were the cup and Arsenal, and we shipped 9).
Spurs (a) 3-2 - best XI Man Utd (a) 1-1 - best XI Liverpool (a) 2-2 - best XI (bar a natural striker) Burnley (h) 1-0 - best XI
I think it's that simple. Once our key players were back, as long as they are putting in a shift, we are going to accumulate points, even if it isn't pretty. We have some talented players. Now that we've gone 3/5 at the back, and you look at the ability of those players in that five (Kouyate, Reid, Oggy, Cress), we are going to stop leaking goals and I can see many more 1-0 wins this season.
I was gutted when we were humiliated by Arsenal, but the side we had out really was shocking.
It's just a shame that we're not as free-flowing as we were last season. It was nice watching us score goal after goal every week.
I can`t think of anyone I`d rather have than Bilic. One or two of his decisions have been a bit mysterious IMO, but overall I think he comes across really well. True, we haven`t been playing well, but a large number of goals conceded this year have been individual errors, nothing you can do about that. We have also been really unlucky with injuries and have not had a settled side all season. If, and its a big IF we can keep our core players fit for a decent run I KNOW we will be OK. I also hope he keeps with the youngsters on the bench and uses them if we are comfortable in any game ;lol Toni Martinez must also be knocking on the door, he keeps scoring for the reserves. If we stick with Bilic we will turn it around. ;scarf
Like us I think Slaven just expected more from our new signings as they all came with good reputation
Zaza was an international striker Feghouli an international winger Nordtveit was captain of a top 7 german team Tore was a dangerous winger Masuaka was a talented wing back Calleri had a good goalscoring record Arbeloa was greeted by the fans as a great signing
He has been let down by these players who have pretty much all been awful, a lot of money was spent on them so it doenst surprise me that he tried to give them game time to help bed them in but it came at a cost and we lost points because of it
He's learnt that those players can't be trusted and has stuck with the team that got us to 7th last year and included the 2 youngest but most impressive players we bought in Fletcher and Fernandes
Tore is out for the season, Zaza is effectively out the team and on his way back to Italy and the others have to settle for a bench place
If we can keep the players that did so well last year fit we will pick up points and bilic is the man to do so
Pre season is such an important part of the season and we had to do it without Cresswell, Payet, Lanzini, Carroll, Sakho, Ayew etc big players that we needed to have big seasons
He fits at West Ham like no other manager I can remember. Except perhaps Redknapp.
He has made mistakes and shown some naivety and all that, but I'll forgive him that for what he brings to the job, which is passion, charisma and what feels like a genuine love for the club.

If we get relegated, I'd still want him here.
This 100%. I would love for the owners to just say "We are sticking with Slav for the next 10 years regardless of where we finish. He is here to build us a future WH and not just to see what he can do now.

Particularly as he's said that training has been good this week. No need to keep bashing them

He always was and always will be the man, for this club at this particular time
;bowdown
And despite some hiccups this season, it still does

Deal with it
