    This study tells us that the 6 professional clubs who haven't sacked a manager in the past 6 seasons are all in better or equal positions to where they were 6 years ago.

    This one tells us that the biggest bounce back in form comes from a manager who isn't sacked being given time to turn things around.

    So it's not about telling the future. It's about looking at the massive amounts of evidence that suggest that sacking managers does not lead to any long term benefit for the club.

    For me, Slav is a good manager, has shown that he is tactically astute, and tries to play in a way that most West Ham fans want the team to play. He's going through a sticky patch, but the evidence tells us that changing the manager now is not likely to make things better, and, in fact, NOT changing the manager is our best bet of turning things around.

    If we get rid of Bilic I will probably stop watching football totally.

    I am already sick and tired of the "now now now!" attitude in football and getting rid of Bilic before he is given the time to build us to something resembling a real football is just pandering to that stupid ideal that we have to have it all now.

    I cant tell the future not paid enough. But the people who do make that decision would i guess imagine that they can get someone in who can turn things around.

    But by doing that they would disprove their own ability to pick someone who is able to turn things around, because that's what Bilic was meant to do. Therefore sacking him and getting a new manager would mean that they are accepting that they only want a manager for about a season and a half and not one to build a future.

    I posted something similar on the Arsenal match thread but I'm worried.
    I don't believe in knee jerk reactions & I genuinely like him & want him to turn it around but something isn't right & I think it could be inside the dressing room.I don't know,it's just a gut feeling I have.
    Once again we've been desperately unlucky with injuries & that didn't help our cause on Saturday but I still didn't expect 5-1. I'm not sure if it was Slav or the board who made those awful signings pre-season but if it was him I wouldn't blame the board for not trusting him with the money in January.
    I'm desperate for him to turn it round for all our sakes & I certainly won't be on his case if we lose at Anfield this week because last year aside,that's normal for us up there.I will be looking at the players effort though & the body language if we concede.
    I'm more concerned with the next four games after Liverpool.If we get a poor return of points from those four,& by poor I mean anything less than 6 (if I'm honest I'm being generous there) then I really think we should look at our options because at the moment this simply isn't working.
    I'm still behind him though & I'm willing him to get it right.

    Been away for a bit - been another difficult season to endure but we have to back Slaven. Last season was so much fun and we can't just lose patience, something clearly isn't right (not like we can blame ref decisions like last season) and maybe it takes a humiliation for the club to pick itself up from.

    Last season:

    There was a gap of 8 places between our highest (2) and lowest (10) points in the table over the season.

    We finished 7th, 3 places above our lowest position.

    Our longest run without a win was 8 weeks.

    At the end of that, we were at the lowest in the table we were all season.

    I don't know what conclusions we can draw from that, really.

    Except that lots of stuff can change during the season, and there are good runs and bad runs. And high points and low points. ;puzzled

    I'm sure some were questioning whether Slav should be sacked during that dry run.

    A good statement and one that any good club would put out. It is of note I think just how much Diddy Dave has matured in his public communications. I seem to recall when he arrived there was a brashness and a leaning towards the more outspoken type of chairmen communication, this is a mature more experienced message however.

    Having listened to his analyses on games, I think Rio could be a very good coach. He expresses himself well (we can forget "th"s) and has enormous knowledge of the game as evidenced by his playing career.
    Julian Dicks can hardly be said to be having a good season. ;biggrin
