  • It would be ludicrous to sack a man after six matches who had just given us our best season since god knows when.

He is passionate and seems to love winning football matches.

He may come through this or he may get sacked but this is his first crisis and we are his teams supporters, how can we do anything but get behind him in a serious way and support. I would like to see super Slav being sung loud at the next match before the first whistle, he will hear it and know we are with him and the players will know it and know we haven't turned.

Now if we get to January and things have not improved there may be a case to assess his position but in September there is only one thing to do and that is get behind him and give the guy a chance to come through a crisis, all great managers have needed come through a crisis, in fact being able to is part of which makes them great. Lets at least see if Slav has what it is to be a great manager.

    Have an Agree ;ok

I for one am a bit ;hmm when the press are all ;carew about Pep or such like.

What adversity have they had to overcome?

What difficulties have they had to contend with?

Let's get behind the team and the manager. Be supporters, rather than so-called fans who are so full of their own sense of entitlement that they head for the exits if things don't go their way.

When the going gets tough ..... man* up!

*Other gender and non-gender specific terms, of equal value, are available.

    I'm Slaven's man

He's got a friend in me.

  • I like Slaven too, make no mistake about it. But he has to do his job. He was OK with the team inherited from Big Sam but now things have changed, he has got new players who don't perform and he doesn't seem to be able to motivate anybody. I don't think the current team members want to play for him - not at the moment, anyway. He will have to change things quickly, perhaps change the system. We have three winnable games coming and we will have to improve dramatically. Otherwise bye bye Slaven.
  • The Davids have only replaced a manager midseason once, Trevor Francis and that was a mutual so my guess is they'll stick with Slaven unless he thinks it's time to go.

We had enough trouble replacing Sam, I doubt if finding a replacement for Slaven would be any easier and in the meantime who would be left running the team? Julian?

Its a results business if he loses the next 3 then he will be a gonna unfortunately.

Still don't think he has managed the team right. Nordveit at right back. No Ogbonna and Reid at CB. Not dropping Noble or Kouyate. Continuing with Zaza. Countinuing with Adrian.
Bilic needs to man up and start dropping players, especially ones that are costing us 3 or 4 goals a game!
  • So if he wins the next 3 he should get a new contract then? ;hmm
  • Iron Herb not sure anyone said that ;hmm
But if the next 3 PL games are all losses it would be hard to see anything else than him going.
Said that I really hope Slav comes through this, not just for the team but himself, he is the 1st manager of our club to really get me excited in years...
  • Totally disagree jay. This is such a knee jerk reaction.
  • Think it's a knee jerk reaction atm but if as Yeold says we lose 3 more then that's 7 (!!!!!) Losses in the league in the row which is disgraceful so yes, I think Slaven will be lucky to be still in a job

3 points after 9 games deserves a sacking, that's a quarter of the season gone already

Adrian we haven't exactly been against the cream of the crop in the league

WBA, Watford, Souhtmpatin with Boro next all should be winnable especially at home and we are getting trounced not just beaten, trounced
  • Sorry to allow us to be this bad in the first place after some horrible Europa games it was looking bad , total shambles the manager looks like kevin Keegan did after losing that game for England totally out of his league with know idea what to do to put things right .

My problem is if he goes and that is becoming a strong possibility after every poor performance who comes in who's better ?
  • Ok Iron Herb, if and I prey it isn't but if 7 losses in a row is not enough to be sacked , how many?
As said I want Slav to remain and get thru this difficult time, but in today's world how much longer would he get ;hmm
  • my thought is he will go if we lose at the weekend I think Slav will walk away before being pushed out .
  • I can't make out why we are so bad. Slav got the team playing so well last season
so why are we so poor. Almost the same players from last season plus some new recruits. Can't blame it on the pitch being bigger, as it didn't seem to affect us when we were away, last season. Payet hasn't been right since the Euro's which
hasn't helped either. We have to face up to the fact we are in serious trouble and if we don't respond quickly we could be having a day out at Brighton next season.
  • Hammerex said:

Brighton will probably get promoted. ....
  • I think last season is a bit of a misread, could easily point to around 15 - 20 games where we played for 45 minutes and were then non-existent for 45 minutes.
Like all teams we had moments of luck, but we also had moments of sheer brilliance. We have neither at the moment and we aren't even turning up for 45 minutes let alone the full 90.
I think Slav is right when he said, the stuff we were doing good is now below average, and the stuff we were average at last season is not there this season.
  • I would say end of November beginning of December is when any change should take place. After all a number of posters on here said this year is all about survival in the new stadium, I was one of the more optimistic I accept, and it is far too early to make the 'change the manager' call.

After all the best person to save us would be Tony Pullis.
  • To clarify my last post a bit. I don't want Bilic going anywhere, now or at Christmas.
  • Sorry iron , this may be out of his hands already if results carry on this way .

Remember their are millions of pounds riding on staying in the league .
  • We deliver fruit and veg to the training ground. The delivery driver is a West Ham fan and he was speaking to the cleaning lady. She told him that things weren't going well behind the scenes, people not happy and apparently Bilic was offered a big money offer to manage Iceland but the Daves flatly refused to let him speak to them. It might be a load of rubbish but, it is not a happy camp there at the moment.
  • To manage Iceland?!? Iceland?!?
It must be a local Iceland store because that's better than being manager of Iceland.
  • don't know they beat us sweepy ;biggrin
  • don't know they beat us sweepy ;biggrin

To be fair, my Monday night team, which includes Fat Paul and Limpy Craig, would have beaten England
  • Given that we've conceded more goals, 34, since March than any other team our ability to defend has been in question for some time.
  • Given that we've conceded more goals, 34, since March than any other team our ability to defend has been in question for some time.

Our ability to leak goals has increased, though.

  • Bilic was offered a big money offer to manage Iceland but the Daves flatly refused to let him speak to them.

We can offer a swap for whoever managed the Icelandic team... they looked half decent at the Euros...
  • No,England made them look good
  • 3 games to keep his job apparently
  • According to who?

    Don't tell me......
