  • Sort of agree, TWC, but I think the Brighton game was just the kind of game in which we could have played Nobes at the base of a diamond or as a deeplying playmaker in some other formation. Indeed, I would have brought him on at half time (or sooner) in this role, and told Lanzini to play much closer to Chicharito.

I think against better teams, he may be able to play this same role alongside a strong ballwinner, and agree that if Kouyate (or Obiang) were on form and told to play the ballwinner role, a 3-5-2 with Kouyate/Obiang, Nobes and Lanzini in front of them as the middle three would be what I'd like to see us try.

Getting slightly off topic, perhaps! But to get back to Bilic - he clearly needs to give Arnie the chance to justify his transfer, since he seems dear to Bilic's heart, which means the formations discussed above are unlikely. The more reasonable problem is how to shoe-horn in Antonio - maybe Bilic feels he can't even play him at RWB after the fallout over playing him at RB, even if these are two different positions. (Zaba's also hard to drop - unless he gives away another needless pen soon...)
  • I think our central defence is bad enough without adding in somebody short, slow, inexperienced in that position and a pretty poor tackler.

Yeah but apart from that jorderz?
    I think it’s a great idea.

If it's leadership we need, then we should look to include Noble and/or Collins

    Something like:

    Hart
    Fonte Reid Collins
    Obiang
    Antonio Noble Kouyate Masuaku
    Lanzini
    Hernandez

Back to a back 3 where we've looked a lot more solid, Obiang sits in front, with Noble and Kouyate making up a midfield 3 that again should cope much better than a 2. Masuaku over Cresswell for me on what I've seen so far this season, and we should look to get Antonio's head back in the game; he's more than capable of a wing back role even if he'd prefer fewer defensive responsibilities. Wing back is very different to full back, and should suit him very well. Although I can see an argument for Lanzini a bit deeper, if we've got Noble there collecting the ball from the defence then I'd like to see Lanzini further forward linking with Hernandez.

    Thoughts?

He's never playing CB though is he?

    Don't know, I can't see the future.
  • I may get a lot of stick but I don’t see noble as a particularly great “leader”. Where’s the evidence? Certainly not through the struggles of last season. And as for Slavs 1st season, surely many of the better things that happened all revolved around Payet?

I would rate both Nolan and Lucas Neill as better West Ham captains, even though both, like Nobes, had their limitations in terms of footballing ability.
  • I would agree Baracks, they were both better captains. Name a better one in the current squad?

After Brighton debacle I wanted sb out
But playing spuds team who are doing well, 3rd in league , even at deluded self’s
we would not be in top 4
I don’t think it’s fair to include this game as one slav must win games
  • Reid, Zag, Hart

Does anyone think Bilic planed this
Right we will let spuds score 2 goals, to give them a chance, then we will go mad

;hmm slav should get a new contract for that ;whistle
  • It’s strange ol world
  • It caught my eye because it refers to Bilic, but I found it an interesting insight into the business of managing generally.

  • Thanks for that Mrs G ;ok Very nice to read. SB is clearly a very respectful and respected man
  • Shame some of our fans ain’t
  • A good read ;ok

I don't think many doubt Slav as a man as he has always come across well, not only decent and sporting but a great passion for the game. It is a high stress and high stakes game and if you will enjoy the feeling of 50,000 fans chanting Super Slav then he will accept the other side of that coin I feel sure.

The essence of the stress and stakes is that there can be no other profession that has 50'000 people appraising your performance at every move and no other profession for which the results of your work are so instantly viewable, week after week. I would say to Rosenior that this is the nature of the job, it is not for the faint hearted, you will be held aloft on shoulders and also kicked when you are on the floor (metaphorically) and if that's not for you then become a kit man or physio when you retire, or maybe go retro and open a pub.

I thought Bilic should have gone after the Swansea game, I’ve seen nothing that makes me consider changing my mind.
  • He needs to go

    Simple as that

    Not good enough
  • He's going nowhere after that win vs Spurs, bought him at least another few more weeks
  • 3 points off midtable. Should be given more time.
  • stays for me, or walks at his own speed

He had little choice today, injuries to two defenders and Zab on a yellow
  • West ham wanting a manager sacked after an away draw SMH
  • Should have been sacked ages ago.
  • Europe cup done it for me
  • He just doesn't seem to know what's needed

I've supported him wholeheartedly throughout, but enough is enough
