  • I love Slav (I may've mentioned that in the past) but I do wish he'd stop saying things like this:

“Dimi is our best player, but we played a couple of days ago and the way he is playing in the game the position he is playing where he needs to go up and down, it drains you, so his substitution was tactical,”

Payet hasn't been our best player this season. I just wonder what this does to the confidence of the other players. Payet doesn't, in my opinion, do enough for the team and while we got away with it last season, it's diffirent this time round and we need eleven players that give 100% in every aspect.
  • Dimi has been poor since the Euros.
  • Payet is a luxury player. Always was, always will be. So games like tonight do not allow him to show his strengths.
I've read somewhere he has created more chances this season than anyone else in the division.

If you take him out of the team we will create very little.
  • Maybe so Herbie, but it's more that Slav keeps claiming he's our best player. Maybe, on a technical level, he is, but I think he's been outperformed by a few players this season.
  • Problem is, a lot of those chances he's created have been for himself and he's not converting them, so could you say he's wasting opportunities?
  • I can see now why for many years nobody really knew too much about him

Pure luxury from what I've seen this season, love him to bits but it's hard playing with almost 10 men some of the time

What I couldn't understand yesterday is that Payet is the man to find Carrolls head and he took him off
  • Presumably because we couldn't afford passengers when we were already down to 10. Also, yes, Dimi is a deadball specialist, but if the likes of Lanzini & Cresswell can't take a decent set piece then I'd be extremely surprised
  • I said this earlier in the season, when the other 9 outfield players are at 100% then we can cope with Dimi not tracking back or tackling, but as soon as a couple of those dip below that, we struggle.
  • West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has two games to save his job following the 5-0 home defeat by Manchester City in the FA Cup third round on Friday. (Sun on Sunday)

    Nonsense methinks
  • There will come a time when the board lose patience.

We seemed to recover with that good run of games, but now we're back to losing, 8-0 the aggregate score in our last 3 games.

If we sleepwalk much longer, he'll go. They know that they can't have this level of performance in this ground with tickets to sell.
  • So they'd sack him after the 21st January? Then appoint a new manager who'd have to choose his transfer targets and they'd try and get them, all before the window closes? Seems unlikely to me.

The FA cup performance was embarrassing but I think we deserved a draw against Leicester and the Man U match was over as a contest after 15 minutes due to poor officials.
  • We had this story just after our last run of tough games/losses (Spurs, Man U/Arsenal) just as we were coming up to the 'easier' run of games that started with Burnley.

  • He's not going......

They know that it's a good chance we won't be going down.

They know that essentially 57,000 tickets are SOLD every home game.

If they're dropping 20m this window then they wouldn't do that for a manager they didn't believe in

There would have to be a massive breakdown in the relationship and him to walk for anything to happen

    Just my opinion
  • Yeah I agree. I just can't see the DDs getting shot of him.

  • IMO, there is no chance that he will leave before the end of the season, I really like Bilic and hope he stays, however, I do not think his position is that secure, the rest of this season is pivotal to me as to whether he is still our manager next season
  • Stoke got knocked out of the Cup by a Championship side, they've had a bad run, losing three of the last six league games but I don't see the press saying Hughes's job is under threat.

As I've said repeatedly S&G have a history of not sacking managers mid-season and Slav has a history of not quitting on a unfinished job. I would be very, very surprised if anything happened between now and the summer.

Bournemouth went out to a league 1 side.....can't remember their name

Is Eddie Howe now in danger of the sack?
  • Slizzy

No, because he is the greatest young English manager in the history of football.

I know you're busy, but do try to keep up. ;wink
  • Was busy G man, off now, cya!
  • At least Howe changed virtually all the team, Hughes played a strong side and was at home too. For what its worth, I dont see the point in getting rid of Bilic after buying ( or attempting to buy) players in January and not giving him time for them to settle/blend.

Or we could go for a guy who knows how to organize our defence ;hmm Someone like BFS ;run
  • Slaven not going anywhere fast. Imo
We will finish mid table. Then get rid of the mediocre players we got last summer. Bring in players that will improve squad. And all will be fine. Imo ;pray
  • When Klopp and Howe swap out their teams it is because they are committed to promoting youth players.

For other managers it is because they don't respect the greatest football competition in the history of the universe.
  • WH will not break their history in 2 seasons. We have always been a team that was mid table and looking downwards, with a good season thrown in hear and there.

So this season is the normal pattern. Just because we moved to a shinny new stadium doesn't mean that WH change what we've been since the club was founded.

With Bilic he wants to play attacking on the ground football and that's what I want in a manager.

The Summer business and injuries haven't helped him, I would like to see him given next season.

Saying all that I am concerned with his subs and plan B in games.
  • We have had terrible luck with injuries and dreadful ref/lino decisions which have contributed to an overall poor season. BUT, I am losing faith in Bilic a little bit. After a season and a half we STILL haven`t settled on a specific system and style of play. All the best teams/managers have a system and for the most part play it. You have no chance of consistency chopping and changing formations and style. Bilic should stick with a system and play it. We are looking totally disjointed and have shown very little fight or spirit. This is down to the manager. I absolutely love Bilic, he feels "right" for West Ham. But he needs to be strong, and he needs to be consistent. How ever much I like him, if we continue to play as we have been, I see no choice but to let him go, because something isn`t right this season and the buck ultimately stops with Bilic. ;scarf

    So the headline says
Exclusive: Slaven Bilic reveals what was said between him and wantaway West Ham star Dimitri Payet
    but the article says
Two days ago, he and I had a meeting. I won’t disclose what was said, but I was left in no doubt as to his intentions.
So we're none the wiser as to what was said by either of them.
  • Yeah, that made me laugh!

The "something isn`t right" was obviously the French bloke. So I retract most of above which leaves me with just one thing to say:

Slaven Bilic claret n blue army...................Slaven Bilic claret n blue army......... ;quaver
  • Kent Hammers have just posted a get well message to the boss.

Apparently Bilic has been in hospital with the flu.
