  • What about Pablo Di Canio

    One letter out, Paolo.

  • That’s Jorderz, not Paolo

Pablo Barrera enters the chat 👀

    Pablo Armero feeling left out
  • Our new Pablo is certainly a fiery character it seems, my mate has just seen him shouting at a woman at the Heathrow booking desk, screaming he was over and over again ' I don't care anywhere will do' !
  • Apparently Castellanos is done and dusted and he's training at Rush Green. Thing is they won't pass the ball to him. 😂
  • Its on the OS now .Welcome and good luck .Your going to need it
  • Need two CBs before anybody can get excited over striker signings.
  • @Lukerz, Let's start with one and hope another comes along 🤞.

Waste of money in my opinion, all this work should have happened in the summer, not now. I simply do not see this team surviving relegation and these purchases will just compound the money constraints on when we do go down.
I get that the board need to do something, but I fear these purchases are going to be detrimental to the long term sustainability of the club. I really do think the owners are more than just gambling with the clubs potential status of league position at this point and it will be us as the fans and club that will suffer.

The Athletic is saying Wilson is in talks to leave.

    Probably for the best imo.

So we can go down with no strikers or at least attempt to stay up with them. I doubt these guys are on mega wages.
  • They will be on PL like wages, it adds to the wage bill which relegation will require the wage bill to be slashed (all written into the contracts i imagine so is not the biggest problem). However the amount spent of fees for PSR reasons will build up and we could be in a dodgy position like Leicester were. I don't see many players beyond Bowen making a profit for what we bought him for, which is going to compound PSR problems further on.
  • I know our board are incompetent, but surely in our current situation they are factoring in the possibility of relegation.

Any new signings will either have a relegation release clause or a wage drop if we go down, or we know with the parachute payments everything is still affordable (surely, please)
  • We’ll now have two new strikers sat on the bench tomorrow acclimatising.
  • I've seen some speculation that Pablo Felipe is getting £165k per week, which would make him our highest paid player. I highly doubt that's the case though.

    For him or us ????
  • Both I guess. If he's on a pay as you play type contract then he needs to play, which now seems less likely, and for us as it hasn't really worked.

Fair enough, although I'd say he probably hasn't been played enough or been given the service, he knows where the back of the net is and to let him go now, even if we've made a couple of signings is dangerous.....
But as you say, if it's a pay as you play, good for him I guess..
  • If he goes that would mean we’ve lost three forwards and signed two. How does Nuno think that rebalances the squad.
  • We will have replaced 2 forwards unable to complete 90 minutes on a regular basis with 2 who can.
  • I really think if we let Wilson go it will be a MASSIVE mistake....IMO
  • I am not sure about Castelannos as I don't think he will bring much, I am more excited about Felipe but hope the speculation regarding 165k per week is way out.

I note they have also both been given four and half year deals but that Felipe is only 22 compared to 27 for Castelannos. I hope to be proved wrong over the next few months but I fear it may be bad business for this second signing.

The centre back is a huge bit of business now, I would probably gamble as much as we can afford on one rather than split funds into two as I think Todibo is doing ok if he can remain fit.
  • I think Wilson has always been a lively box presence, but it's clear to me that we need strikers who are willing and able to run themselves into the ground, hold up the ball, link play, and make space for others. None of these are things Wilson can do, and it's why (IMO) we have never been able to replace Antonio properly. Having some mobile and physical options up front will make a huge difference to us.
  • I’d rather keep Wilson. Can understand him wanting to leave but for us there’s not much harm in having him around and if the other two don’t work out then he’s always an option. He hasn’t been a complete success but he’s chipped in and I think we’ve often looked better when he has played.

Having said that, the benefit of getting strikers in early is that if they do get off to a fast start then maybe we could move him on later in the window.

    Do you mean can't?

    Both.
  • Proper 4-4-2?

    Areola
    Wan-Bissaka - Mavropanos - Todibo - Diouf
    Bowen - Fernandes - Magassa - Paquetá
    Taty
    Pablo
  • Can’t see that happening. His wages must be huge.
  • Do all these signings have relegation release clauses in their deals? I’d assume so.
