    I also like Paqueta, he’s the one I consider most likely to change the game in a positive way… But I don’t like the timing of all this….
    Lots of his downfall I believe was to do the betting case against him, I think that really affected him and his performances, none of us know how that must have felt and what damage it’s done…..
    But as said, I’m not over the moon with the timing of this especially knowing what situation we’re in…
    If he goes, let’s just hope the money is wisely spent ⚒️🫧⚒️🫧

    An article by the Athletic/New York Times claims that Sullivan has insisted on a clause in every West Ham players’ contract that their salary is cut by 50% if we get relegated which is a major problem with signing players given our current situation

    It’s fairly believable as Sullivan did that with Demba Ba who only agreed to sign after they gave him a relegation release clause

    We might not have many players left in July…

    I know Ba had the release clause but don’t the two things cancel each other out? If they’re released from their contracts if we’re relegated, there is no longer a salary to pay half of.

    As far as I remember Ba only insisted on the release clause because Sullivan insisted on the 50% pay cut

    If he’d been full pay maybe he could have played in the Championship, he’d have been scoring for fun and we might have avoided the playoffs

    And we wouldn’t have signed John Carew, Sam Baldock, Nicky Maynard or Brian Montenegro (loan)

    Exactly. Who would want to stay and play in the 2nd tier on half pay? Any player with any ambition is going to hand in a transfer request

    Doesn't have to be accepted, and in doing so any loyalty bonuses etc. will be forfeited.

    Apparently they have quite large revenue (most in South America) and made a decent chunk from being in the club World Cup.

    That sounds very reasonable and I have been a little bit surprised at the figures quoted for him, due to only have one year left in the summer. I would have expected his value about now to be around 25m.

    I may be doing him down but I would be a little concerned about his effort level during a relegation scrap if knowing he was leaving and that an injury would scupper the whole thing.

    This is not proving a good transfer window for Reform UK, Nadhim Zahawi looked a shaky signing but now Robert Jenrick signs they are bringing in a lot of heavy baggage players who could unsettle the team dynamic. If you add in the terminally thick Jonathan Gullis and Lee Anderson they can't be accused of cherry picking the best brains from the Torries!

    Jacob Steinberg (Guardian) reckons that Flamengo aren't interested in a loan back deal and are happy to wait until the summer when Paqueta's price will have dropped

    The Brazilian season starts 26th January but their transfer window doesn't close until 31st March so they're in no rush

    West Ham midfielder Andy Irving is in talks to join Sparta Prague.
    A fee has been agreed between the two clubs, and Irving has been given permission to undergo a medical.
    The 25-year-old has made just seven appearances this season for the Hammers. He last played in early December.

    Who said he doesn’t want to be here? From what I’ve read Nuno told him he’s not going to start many games so may want to move elsewhere. There was talk of his contract being mutually terminated but he’s not been in any rush to deal with it.

    Like all players, we assume he wants to play as much as possible.
    So probs not keen to stay if he could realise his goals elsewhere.

    Also, I felt/judged that the post-game interaction between him and Nuno was quite cool, compared to other players.

    Wilson looks like he has an excellent attitude whenever he get on the pitch. I would really of liked him in his prime from what I have seen of him.

    Burnley are interested in West Ham midfielder James Ward-Prowse.
    Hammers boss Nuno Espirito Santo has said Ward-Prowse is one of the players West Ham are willing to move on.

    The 31-year-old has not played since Nuno was appointed in September.

    Burnley want a midfielder with Premier League experience after Josh Cullen suffered an ACL injury.
