Oh well. It's interesting that that's both a decent chase in India and I can see lots of areas, both batting and bowling, where we could get better. Game (series) on!
I guess India would have started to worry. Nobody would have given a visiting team a snowflake's chance in hell to get 399 but England actually even reduced the first innings' deficit. A little more luck here and there and the game could have been closer.
314-5. Jadeja, on 99, initially calls for a quick single, but then sends his partner, who made a rapid 62 on debut, back. Mark Wood, with a smart bit of fielding, runs him out at the non-strikers end.
India have been docked 5 penalty runs after a second player has run on the middle of the pitch (they received a warning yesterday). It's almost like they're cheating.......
388-7 at lunch. Much like yesterday morning, after early breakthroughs, a largely frustrating session, perhaps even moreso given these are tailenders; this eighth wicket partnership is already worth 57.
A frustrating final wicket partnership of 30 takes India to 445 all out, Wood with the final wicket. Dropped catches and poor use of reviews has allowed India to get to a much bigger total than they should have, a big ask for England to match that total, especially given how often our batsmen have got to 20 or 30 and then not gone on so far in this series.

Sets it up nicely.

England play 2 fast bowlers for the first time in the series, with Mark Wood coming in for Bashir.
Root comes in and hopefully he'll score some of the runs he's been short of recently.
