  • I'm not sure if you'll get the last two tbh

They were signed I am sure during the 2004 Olympic Summer. Here we are 20 years on signing another Argentinian. Is there another one out there we could buy.

Got me thinking that Tevez, Mascherano, Zabaleta and Lanzini all did well for us.

An Argentinian right back would be ideal.
  • Lampard perhaps Bellamy
  • Reo-Coker?
  • 1. Declan Rice - £105m
    2. Gianluca Scamacca - £26m
    3. Dimitri Payet - £25m
    4. Marko Arnautovic - £22.4m
    5. Sebastien Haller - £20.3m
    6. Rio Ferdinand - £18m
    7. Andre Ayew - £18m
    8. ???
    9. Flynn Downes - £18m
    10. Craig Bellamy - £15.5m

And with Mascherano, Liverpool spent £18.6m on him, but apparently that money went to the MSI agency, not us.
Yeah, I don't remember us getting much of anything for either of them, despite what they were worth.
  • Diangana or Hartson
  • 1. Declan Rice - £105m
    2. Gianluca Scamacca - £26m
    3. Dimitri Payet - £25m

    5. Sebastien Haller - £20.3m
    6. Rio Ferdinand - £18m
    7. Andre Ayew - £18m
    8. Grady Diangana - £18m
    9. Flynn Downes - £18m

I had to check, as I felt it was later than that; we signed them in 2006. We were still in the 2nd tier in 2004.
  • I think I had the fact that they were in the team that won the Olympic Gold?
  • Savio 😜
  • Killman, Paqueta, Scamacca, Haller, Anderson for starters.
  • Kudus and Alvarez too, maybe even Zouma.
  • 1. Lucas Paqueta - £51m
    2. Sebestian Haller - £45m
    3. Max Kilman - £40m
    4. Mo Kudus - £38m
    5. Felipe Anderson - £37m
    6. Edson Alvarez - £34m
    7. Gianluca Scamacca - £30.5m
    8. ???
    9. ???
    10. Kurt Zouma - £29.5m
  • I've done all the low hanging fruit, I'd better shut up now 😂🤣😂 (I had been thinking since you mentioned it earlier).
  • We made big losses on 2 of the 3 that have left, and the same will apply to Zouma if he goes this summer or next. £25m on Haller, and £30m or so on Anderson (we got very little for him, although maybe some loan fees as well), Zouma has a current value of £0, so nearly £30m on him too.
  • Vlasic

Whether he's included in the top 10 or not, we also made a big loss on him too.
  • 1. Lucas Paqueta - £51m
    2. Sebestian Haller - £45m
    3. Max Kilman - £40m
    4. Mo Kudus - £38m
    5. Felipe Anderson - £37m
    6. Edson Alvarez - £34m
    7. Gianluca Scamacca - £30.5m
    8. Nayef Aguerd - £30m
    9. James Ward-Prowse - £30m
    10. Kurt Zouma - £29.5m
  • Vlasic

In terms of profit / loss on players, I'm not going to do another guessing game, but of the top ten, only three were players that we signed. The rest have been academy players.

    Top 10 profit made:
    1. Declan Rice - £105m
    2. Grady Diangana - £18m
    3. Rio Ferdinand - £18m
    4. Dimitri Payet - £14.3m
    5. Frank Lampard - £11m
    6. James Tomkins - £10m
    7. Anton Ferdinand - £10m
    8. Havard Nordtveit - £8m
    9. Nigel Reo-Coker - £8m
    10. Joe Cole - £6.6m

    Top 10 losses made:
    1. Felipe Anderson - £34.7m
    2. Sebastien Haller - 24.7m
    3. Andriy Yarmolenko - 17.5m
    4. Pablo Fornals - £17.2m
    5. Nikola Vlasic - £15.8m
    6. Andy Carroll - £15.5m
    7. Said Benrahma - £13.7m
    8. Robert Snodgrass - £10.2m
    9. Julien Faubert - £9.2m
    10. Manuel Lanzini - £9m
  • That top 10 losses is a bit of an eye opener.
  • Diangana?

Zouma could be about to gatecrash the top 2. Seems harsh to include Fornals given he was with us for 4 and a half years, but, given he was 27 when he left, he shoulda been at his peak so really shoulda been worth more.

Haller was a shocker given he was only with us 18 months, and goodness knows what happened to Anderson; he started so brightly but just fell off a cliff.
  • Yeah it's definitely not an equal playing field here. Anderson, Haller, Vlasic were probably the flops there. The others all played and contributed a lot in their time here.
