I don’t get the tears over Scamacca. The guy has done nothing here yet gets lauded as some sort of world class striker. You then compare it to the likes of Cresswell, Moyes etc who have done lots for this club, who often get slandered (not talking about on here). Odd.
We have Antonio, Ings, Cornet & Mubama. We can afford to let him go if he doesn’t want to be here. Doesn‘t change the fact we still need to sort our midfield.
Fans on Twitter bemoaning our £25m bid for JWP. What’s wrong with that? I’d say that was about right. They are in the Champ & won’t get their full value based on that alone. Hold your nerve.

It's not about Scamacca the player. It's about the strategy. I have no issue with him going; I think he's a talented player but we don't play to his strengths and, from what I've read elsewhere, he's not happy living in London.
It's about replacing him. I don't know how we can spend £35m on a player and then decide a year later that we don't need to replace him.
And the players you've listed; Antonio is on the decline and is rumoured to also want out. Ings isn't an effective lone striker, which is what we're likely to see again this season. According to Transfermarkt, Cornet has only played 32 of 232 games as a striker so hardly his primary position, and Mubama is a complete unknown at PL level. We have the numbers, but do we have the necessary quality and balance to have a good season?
So we have to be positive because we're not leeds? Ok...
Not really, I think the point is that things are not quite as bad as some continue to say.
Thats your opinion... i think we have our right to be concerned about our season and lack of transfer dealings. Happy for you to be positive but we are allowed to have our concerns
I really don't understand selling Scamacca for about a third less than we bought him for. His season might have been underwhelming, largely due to injury absences, but it wasn't terrible and he showed some great signs of ability. There's no reason he should have devalued so much. I don't have any strong feelings about whether he stays or goes in general but I'm baffled by the idea of taking a big loss on him.
@OCS, We can solve two of those problems in one change in tactics play Scamacca and Ings up front.
@ASLEF, Who was the right manager for the mess we were in at the time doesn't automatically mean he is now the current one to take us further due to him appearing to be unable to take on anyone else's opinion that differs to his. Mark Warburton has said as much recently and it's being reported that Tim Steidten is struggling to get his views heard.

Er, I don’t think I said you didn’t have the right did I?🤷🏻♂️

Also, Cornet was off the boil at the end of last season. I liked him at Burnley and in his first few matches for us before the injury but who knows which Cornet will turn up next season. So we’ve got an a declining Antonio who doesn’t seem to want to be here, a raw Mubama, an out of position and risky option in Cornet, and an ineffective lone striker in Ings.
Our squad depth has been declining each year as it is but this year is something else.
We have to make it work. We have players who we have signed & pay big wages to. Until the day comes they are sold, we have to find ways for them to work.
He played for one of the Portugal youth teams in mid-July, and every player is entitled to 2-3 weeks holiday. The rumour is that he is still on holiday, will be back to City early next week, and at that point he'll be signing for us.

But up front we fundamentally haven't. Haller was effective in a front two with Jovic at Frankfurt, but we signed him and played him up front on his own.
Scamacca worked will in a three at Sassuolo, but we signed him and played him up front on his own.
Ings works best in a front two (with Watkins at Villa, Vokes at Burnley, Adams at Southampton) but we signed him and played him up front on his own.
Moyes has experimented with two up front during pre-season, but against Rennes it was back to his usual 4-2-3-1, and it's looking likely that we'll go into the new season with that formation. The only striker we have that has proven he can play that role is Antonio, who is 33, on the decline and is rumoured to want to leave.
1. I think this is true. Last summer's spending was very un-West Ham. 2. I think that, if Moyes spent the Rice money last summer, and brought in a lot of first-team players who, to be fair, didn't really have a chance to gel, thanks to injury and, yes, to Moyes' softly-softly approach to induction. However, now they're finally ready to start a new season, is it really wise to bring in a new manager who e.g. may decide they don't like Ings, or prefer Mubama as a left back, and have a huge fight with Paquetá, who hands in a transfer notice. (Disharmony is not guaranteed, of course, but a change in strategy is.)

Plus, it looks like we are selling him for a lot less than what he’s worth.

Kehrer - Zouma - Aguerd
Coufal - Soucek - Paqueta - Emerson
Fornals
Bowen - Ings
For Ings to work, or…
Fabianski
Coufal - Zouma - Aguerd - Emerson
Soucek - Paqueta
Bowen - Fornals - Benrahma
Antonio/Cornet/Mubama
Assuming Scamacca is inevitably sold & we sign nobody (which we won’t).
Teamtalk claim that Sean Dyche is keen on signing Harry Maguire
Maybe a reducing squad depth is a good thing...

@Jorderz, We won silverware despite of our manager not because of him but that is just IMHO.
Noice.
