With the fanbase that West Ham has, the stadium, the history - we really should be massive (yeah, I know we think we are ). So just what is it about West Ham that some players seem to turn their noses up at?
What history are you talking about that should make us massive and attractive to players? 3 FA cups and a European Cup Winners Cup? We have never ever been near to being a top team that can attract top talent.
MIA, The size or history of the club hasn't stopped the likes of Brentford, Brighton or Palace to mention a few from signing good young players. Just in passing in 1986 we were still in the title race on the last Saturday of the season.
Does anyone have any actual transfer news or are we just going to have debates about how "big" were are or aren't?
Here's a thought
Leeds United should be massive, the only team in the 4th biggest city in England with a fan base far bigger than ours. They've won the First Division/Premier League three times and been runners up 5 times
Next season they'll play on the Championship after three seasons in the Premier League
How do we compare to Leeds United?
I am seriously getting sick to the teeth of people whining about how bad things are when we're in our 12th consecutive season in the Premier League and have got European football for a third season
Sorry but fans of other clubs would give their right arm to be in our position but still people complain

Yes ASLEF & there are some fans who wouldn’t be too fussed if we were in the same division as Leicester and Leeds. I have spoken to many fans who are glad they haven’t got our manager.

Fortune, that’s my point. 37 years ago we were still in the title race on the last Saturday. And since then we got 5th place once. Hardly the pedigree that top players are looking for. My comment was in response to the question why some players turn their noses up at us. Let’s face facts. No top player wants to come to us or the likes of Brentford, Brighton or Palace. Instead we hope that every now and then our scouting or recruitment program uncovers a yet undiscovered gem.
We weren't in the title race on the last day of 1985/86, Liverpool secured the title midweek by beating Chelsea and on the last day we played Everton for 2nd place
Everton won the title the following season while we finished 15th, the season after we were 16th and the season after that we were relegated
If anything Everton has more "history" than us but they've not won a trophy since 1995, they've not qualified for Europe since 2017 and have been relegation contenders two seasons in a row
A club's history might mean a lot to the fans but despite what players might say at press conferences or on Twitter it means very little when it comes to the cold, hard business of transfers
Aslef we were in the title race on the last Saturday and we beat West Brom. Liverpool pipped us by beating Chelsea and then we faced Everton on the Monday night for second place but lost.
I'm not convinced it's the wisest move to let more people leave before we bring anyone in. It seems that Sullivan is unhappy about asking prices now everyone knows we have the Rice money, but that's not going to get better by adding Scamacca money on top.
Don't worry alderz we wouldn't sell anyone without having extensively scouting suitable replacements & once they leave we will have them signed very soon after, won't we?

I think you're being too diplomatic there alderz. It would be absolutely unforgivable.
We let Haller go without a replacement lined up and had to wait 18 months to get one in. The reason we had to wait so long, we were told, was because the manager wanted to find the right player. Twelve months later it's looking likely that we're letting that 'right' player go.
We clearly didn't learn from Haller, because we let Dawson and then Rice go without replacements lined up, so I have absolutely no faith that we have a plan to replace Scamacca.
If Scamacca goes, and if Cresswell goes, we NEED players at least ready to come in immediately, if not before the sales are sanctioned. We can't just trust to luck that we'll eventually find replacements given how much of the window we've already wasted.

Thank you
My mistake, I thought we played WBA midweek and Everton on the Saturday

It took the board ten years to find the "right manager" and now it looks as if some want to let the "right" manager go

Dawson would have gone in the summer if Aguerd hadn't got injured and he was allowed to leave in January because we had Aguerd, Zouma, Ogbonna and Kehrer all fit

So far you gotta get a pint for SHF, Herb, & whitehorsehammer..
