    New women's manager appointed.

Hopefully she has some good contacts to bring in a few good new players as Grace Fisk has joined Liverpool. I read somewhere that our new manager can’t actually start work officially but can offer advice on changes to the squad. 🤞

  • I think she is working at the Women's World Cup for a broadcaster.
  • ‘According to Sportitalia journalist Gianluigi Longari, Inter Milan are keeping tabs on Gianluca Scamacca.

The Beneamata are trying to understand if the striker’s return to Serie A would be feasible this summer’
  • I just don't see how JWP fits into the team we look to be trying to build. I hope it's just aimless speculation.
  • Cant see it being aimless speculation as it's been mentioned all window.
  • Given that we have Steidten, Moyes, Noble and Sullivan determining our recruitment strategy but all wanting something different we may well end up signing nobody.
  • So Marco Silva has reportedly been offered £40m for a 2 year deal in Saudi, Mitrovic has reportedly said he won't play for Fulham again, and Paulinho is interested in joining us yet we still think our transfer window is a mess. 😁
  • I'd be over the moon if we got JWP. For the right price.

It would also nice not be 2nd worst 😉
  • According to reports we never got around to putting in any offer for Barnes because the 4 recruitment team couldn’t decide between them if we wanted him.
  • "According to reports" sounds much more like uninformed mischief making to me.

Or maybe we were chasing Borges and not Barnes.
  • The Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg – whose connections to Moyes are unimpeachable – has said that while West Ham started the summer with Harvey Barnes on their shortlist, ‘changes in their recruitment team since the end of last season resulted in them failing to submit a bid’.

Steinberg added that Steidten ‘is driving the interest in’ Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana and Chelsea left-back Ian Maatsen, and it does not require a significant leap to imagine Moyes becoming increasingly frustrated with the input.
  • If we're going for Palhinha or Alvarez as a sitting DM, Fofana is a much better player alongside Paqueta than JWP will be; it's about trying to get the right balance in the middle of the park and I don't see that JWP will provide that with Paqueta and a holding DM.
  • Still a big James Ward-Prowse fan. Would be very happy with a midfield of him, Paqueta and a DM. Would also like to sign Alex Scott (yes I’ve seen him play, @Slacker 😉)

I'd love Alex Scott but I can't see it happening; apparently Wolves are in the driving seat having offered £25m plus £7m in add-ons. We'll have to agree to disagree on JWP, far too much money at the mentioned £40m, and, given we're unlikely to get Palhinha for less than £50m then the bulk of the windfall from Rice will have gone on a pair of 28 year old players and that doesn't sit well with me, apart from the fact that I don't think JWP provides enough pace and dynamism in the middle of the park alongside Paqueta and in front of Palhinha.

  • I’m not a JWP fan, but if alderz is happy, I will be
  • ‘Fortuneseeker June 22
@Lukerz, Whose desire is Phillips plus cash. I would rather Borges or Perrone if they are going to try a part/ex?’

I agree that £40m is steep
  • Silva could be off to Saudi.

    Get Palhinha.
  • thorn, I don’t have a problem with David Moyes becoming frustrated with Tim Steidten’s input. IF he can bring in some young talented players at a fraction of the price of our managers targets that will be good business IMHO. Who is to say the younger players aren’t better options than the likes of Palhinha, JWP, Maguire etc?
  • Fortune you’re kind of missing the point. We have 4 people involved in recruitment now and they need to agree on targets etc but it seems to be that two of them disagree and the other two seem to be somewhere in between resulting in our getting nowhere fast.
  • thorn, 👍. IF true it doesn’t bode well for us getting many transfers over the line. Thought there might be trouble when it was announced that DM & TS were going to on the same level when reporting on transfers to Mr Sullivan. Nobes loyalties must be stretched in trying to do what he sees is best for the club.
  • Are we assuming this Borges is a first team player?

French player is Truffert, or Rennes. LB.

We're not spending £14m to put him in the u21s imo, and I can't see him swapping City's u21s for ours either.

  • I had never heard of Borges before today but I now want him a lot haha Just sayin'
  • I'm in the meh camp regarding JWP. Yes, hes obviously good at set pieces but I'd only want to pay under 20M for him and I think we can do better
