  • Only two and bit games into pre-season, but Fabianski has looked very good. If, as looks likely, he starts as our No1 again, can anyone see Areola wanting out?

The Clubs transfer dealings is tinpot. We didn't even have a replacement ready to go when Rice was sold. We're still chucking bids out with zero clue to whether they will be accepted. Should have had these conversations 3 weeks ago before Rice was sold.
Actually disgusting watching how Brighton and others conduct business. Sell a player with someone lined up ready to come in within the week. Bids accepted straight away and looking onto the next one.
Meanwhile West Ham making bids to get rejected and jumping from target to target.

    Is this speculation?

    It's conjecture:

    Conjecture
    noun
an opinion or conclusion formed on the basis of incomplete information

So based on alderz's given definition of speculation, yes.
See, your English grammar education is never complete.

Is that conjecture, speculation or revelation?
  • It's his firmly held believe.
  • While we're at it

    Revelation:
    noun
a.:an act of revealing to view or making known.
b.:something that is revealed. especially : an enlightening or astonishing disclosure.

I think these are also the definitions of Ravel-ation. =)
  • Add revelation to the list, it's going to be a long new title hahaha
  • Transfer speculation, conjecture, revelation and convictions

    Not forgetting confirmation bias....

    noun
a.:an act of revealing to view or making known.

    Revelation

    c. the last book of the Bible where things get really freaky with earthquakes, meteorites, mountains moving, seas turning to blood, locusts with human faces, dragons, beasts, the four horsemen and lots more weird stuff

Possibly written by someone on acid

(And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little scroll. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey". Rev 10:9)

You say "little scroll", I say "tab"

Possible a bit off-topic (well, actually totally off topic) but I heard for the first time this weekend about that end-of-times conspiracy theory linked to chip+pin cards; they quote Revelations.

    I was astounded.

    You chose South London…

Funny you should say that. I watched a programme last night about chip and pin cards and was amazed to find that there is approximately 8cm of copper wire inside the card that acts as an antenna for use with contactless.

I though I'd never get the chance to share this fabulous fact. 🤓

The site that keeps on giving..

  • You chose South London…

'Fess up. You've heard of it too. Before me. In East East East London.
  • West Ham United are interested in Connor Gallagher (Sky Sports).
  • Presumably just repeating what was being said by their sister channel in Germany last night.

Monaco's Fofana also linked this evening. Ex has suggested that he'd be more reasonably priced than Palhinha and McTominay, but others are claiming that Moyes is unsure on him because of his lack of PL experience.

Just more noise in the increasingly deafening din of our transfer window.
  • Just a thought (regarding the loan taken out on the strength we'd sell Rice that needs to be paid back)... If this is correct, wouldnt you think that buying one or two players last seaon that were to replace Rice would be bought? Even in terms of bedding in and getting games in Europe, the other cups and through injuries?
  • Let me bring in to the conversation:debate /dɪˈbeɪt/ noun

    Britannica Dictionary definition of DEBATE
: a discussion between people in which they express different opinions about something
  • Would love to know how far down the list Moyes / Newman / Tim are. The list just seems to ever expand but nothing concrete from then on, the closest deal it sounded like was Zakaria which now sounds like its on the back burner over agreeing a fee since it was last speculated but now nothing.
But again it still screams tinpot that none of this was not done in advance of the Rice deal being concluded.
Now it feels like the club have hamstrung themselves by not having these types of deals in place upon Rice's move to Arsenal because every club can rinse us for more money or hold out for how desperate we will become because we didn't forward plan Rice being sold.

So you're saying no other clubs anticipated that Rice was leaving this summer, as I don't know anyone who didn't know. They would have rinsed us ahead of the Rice sale in anticipation.
  • Ham 🤣🤣🤣

Imagine you’re a professional footballer making your dream move to the premiership and you get announced by the teletubbies 🤪
  • @Ironherb, It was said we couldn't enter the market as we weren't sure the Rice money was guaranteed, well at least how soon it was going to be paid?
We should have had some targets lined up any way instead of still working down a long list of players it's an old aged problem, see what I did there! =)
  • There's no way the club will sell Cresswell IMO. He's one of the senior players, and has captained the team, and having lost Noble and Rice I don't think Moyes will want to lose any more of his trusted squad, particularly for £2.5m.

I get the idea that we spent some of the Rice money in advance because it was a lot of purchases but it can’t have been all of it. There was no way we could be sure it would be £105m coming in.
I thought Antonio was good last season.
  • Our transfer dealings or lack of is a real concern to me, I know others will say we still have weeks left to the start of seasaon and the Rice money either only just came in ( part of it ) or it was even spent last season etc etc, but we really do seem to be backwards in trying to sign players with little conviction.
Some will say we don't know what's going on behind the scenes etc etc and that's very true, but it does seem like the usual scattergun approach.
IMO we need at least 3 signings done that will improve our team / squad, we always seem to dither and leave it late, I'm pretty sure that's where Moyes got his nickname of "Dithering Dave" from the Everton fans, he's got the history.
I am not saying we won't come right, but it would just have been nice to at least wrap up one deal so far, rather than none, just IMO of course....
Let's hope the saying about buses comes true, none then a few in a row, I can dream on....
